Chapter 114 - Chapter 113 Communication

Chapter 113 Communication

On the flagship of the Faran star system fleet, an old general with a square face and graying hair, dressed in military uniform, heard these words and angrily rebuked them.

"Too busy? What a joke! Hundreds of Billions of people on the planet, Faran, are suffering greatly because of his Great Crusade, and your excuse is that he doesn't know!"

His voice rose. "The Faran government has officially broken away from the Imperium and gained independence. If you want war, then war it is. Stop talking nonsense!"

Omega paused, noting something in the general's tone. "So you're saying you knew my name before I even arrived?"

The general roared back, "I, Luffy Dornan, have no interest in your name. Don't think I'm afraid of you just because you're Space Marines. Every inch of the Faran system will be impassable for you, and your entire legion will pay a heavy price!"

Company Commander Dillion was taken aback, not expecting the general on the other side to have such a volatile temper. The other company commanders were all ready to go to war.

'Luffy? Here in the future?' Omega smiled calmly.

"Mr. Luffy Dornan, I'm glad to know your name. Before the war begins, you must let me know exactly what happened on your planet and why you're fighting. How about then we have a good, decisive battle?"

Upon hearing this, General Dornan swallowed his words of anger and the urge to start a war immediately.

"You want to know? Fine, I'll tell you everything, so you'll understand just how utterly worthless the Emperor you serve is!"

The two then talked for an hour across millions of kilometers, which was somewhat unbelievable for both sides, who were about to go to war.

Omega calmly persuaded the general to reveal all the problems on the planet Faran, and then proposed his own political solutions. Every word he said hit the nail on the head, leaving General Dornan astonished by Omega's wisdom and governance capabilities.

Inside the bridge, seeing the old general's surprised yet calm expression, a blond general in his thirties spoke up to remind him.

"General Dornan, don't be fooled by them. We are now enemies of the Imperium!"

Omega's calm voice came from the communicator that had been on all along. "The general is right. We need to communicate to find out the truth. Whether I have the ability to solve your planet's problems is for you to find out for yourselves, and then make your own choice."

The young general scoffed disbelievingly. "How can we know? What lies are you going to tell us?"

Omega replied, "I will send several envoys to you. You can ask them about the situation in my sectors. In my view, the problems of your planet can be resolved through peaceful governance. If things reach a point of no return and the war causes immense suffering to the people of planet Faran, I can only apologize. Until then, please do not give up hope."

"Stop pretending! You talk a good game, but you can't do anything about it!" the young general roared disdainfully.

A gaunt general in his forties, his expression serious, was somewhat moved by Omega's words. He spoke calmly, "Wait. Let them talk if they want. I want to see how they'll convince us."

"Major General Horn, do you want to betray Governor Kroll? What's there to talk about!" the young general said resolutely upon hearing the other generals' hesitant expressions.

"Major General Carol, it's normal for both sides to send envoys before going to war!"

For some reason, the elderly General Dornan had gained confidence in Omega, whom he had never met, and his tone softened considerably. Unless absolutely necessary, they were unwilling to wage a war that would result in mutual destruction and heavy casualties. More than the outcome of the war, they hoped to see their homeland live a better life rather than endure its current misery.

As a core star system, they were well aware of the Space Marines' strength, and everyone present was prepared to risk their lives to make the Imperial forces pay the price.

The two massive fleets confronted each other in space. A Thunderhawk gunship delivered twenty Imperial Army envoys, some from the Alpha sector and others from the Medias sector. The gunship was forcibly captured by the enemy as soon as it approached.

On the bridge, Captain Orsh was about to launch an attack when he saw the situation, but Omega stopped him. He watched quietly as events unfolded.

For an entire day, the twenty envoys were escorted to the bridge under General Dornan's supervision. Through interrogation and conversation, the twenty-odd generals learned from these envoys about the incredible development and prosperity of the Alpha and Medias sectors.

If one person was lying, more than twenty people couldn't lie simultaneously, given the generals' expertise in interrogation. Knowing about the prosperity of the Alpha sector and the incredible development of the Medias sector, General Dornan and his companions became even more hesitant. They had listened to an hour-long conversation that confirmed Omega's exceptional expertise in planetary governance.

"Major General Carol, I intend to report this to Governor Kroll. What do you think?"

"Can he actually solve our planet's problems?" Major General Carol, the governor's youngest general and most trusted confidant, felt during the interrogation that Omega was an incredible person.

It was the first time he had ever heard of such a human being.

Upon hearing this, the surrounding generals all smiled. General Dornan said, "In war, envoys are not to be killed. Let's treat these envoys well, and I will personally escort them back to the surface to negotiate with the governor. Send a message to the other side: no attack is allowed within seven days, otherwise negotiations will be invalid."

While the generals deliberated, they received a reply from Omega agreeing to the terms. He voluntarily withdrew his fleet one million kilometers to show goodwill. These actions made the generals feel favorably toward Omega.

The surface of the Faran star system was filled with tall, dense cities, but they were all decaying and dilapidated. The streets were sparsely populated, with drunkards, thieves, and robbers wandering freely. Many gangsters openly drove by in armored vehicles, firing indiscriminately. Dust and scraps of paper swirled in the wind, and occasionally, one could see thin, numb-looking pedestrians on the roadside.

The entire planet was filled with unregulated cities, rife with all sorts of evil deeds. Order had long been lost. Gangs were fighting each other in the cities, shells and bullets had riddled the dilapidated buildings with holes, and war was breaking out between urban centers. The whole planet was filled with disorder and chaos.

Furthermore, a large number of rebels and planetary defense forces clashed fiercely in various cities, leaving entire districts riddled with holes and littered with corpses.

In one megacity, hundreds of skyscrapers were brightly lit, and numerous flying vehicles shuttled back and forth. Occasionally, bandits arrived in aircraft armed with machine guns and cannons to commit robberies, followed by large numbers of pursuers.

A massive building, over a thousand meters tall, was heavily guarded. Inside the governor's office in one of the high-rises, a man in a marshal's uniform sat at the head of the table.

After General Dornan reported on the events in space, Governor Kroll remained silent for a long time, smoking his cigar. Smoke rings rose as his eyes wandered, as if he were not thinking about anything in particular.

After finishing his cigarette, Governor Kroll asked casually, "General Dornan, do you know why the planet Faran is now rife with crime and robberies?"

The elderly General Dornan analyzed, "Because for over a century, most resources have been allocated to the Imperium's expeditionary fleets. The planet's remaining resources are insufficient to sustain life for billions of people."

"Rising prices have led to a shortage of essential resources for the lower classes. Countless people, unable to survive, gradually became criminals and vagrants. Some even resorted to robbing others to survive. This is also why I firmly oppose the Emperor. I believe Faran should secede from the Imperium and become independent. The Emperor is a tyrant; he doesn't deserve Faran's loyalty!"

Governor Kroll nodded, sat up straight, and stared sharply at him. "And now, you're hesitating, thinking that the Primarch of the Twentieth Legion, Alpharius, can save this hopeless planet rife with criminals and allow countless people to live the ordinary life of the Alpha sector."

"I know my limitations well, General, and I'm well aware that I can't do that. Do you truly believe he can?"

General Dornan stated firmly, "If the Governor insists on war, I am willing to lead the fleet to fight the Alpha Legion to the last man. I no longer care about life or death!"
