Chapter 114 The Mysterious Blood!
Governor Kroll stood up and said calmly, "Alright, if they want to talk, then let's talk. Tell them everything about the planet's problems, one by one. I want to know their method for saving the world. If they can truly do it, I, Kroll, will be the first to submit."
"If this cannot be achieved, I will stop at nothing to make the Imperium pay a heavy price for its century-long exploitation of Faran!"
General Ludovic Dornan nodded in agreement. They were initially the defense forces of the planet Faran, which had purged its incompetent governor and corrupt government institutions, but their military rule remained inadequate.
The fundamental reason was that they could not provide enough resources and reliable systems to support the civilian population.
After much deliberation, everyone agreed that it was all the Emperor's fault. His great expedition had extracted resources from Faran at an excessively high price, and only independence offered any hope.
...
Over the course of seven days, Governor Kroll gave detailed reports to Omega of all sorts of problems and a deluge of conflicting information about the planet.
Like a highly skilled master of planetary governance, Omega, amidst the standoff between two massive fleets in space, meticulously and methodically analyzed the problems of Faran and provided systems of solutions.
Omega's calm guidance resolved countless problems that had caused Kroll and Dornan headaches and anger.
In the Faran fleet, Governor Kroll, with a friendly smile, communicated with Omega across millions of kilometers, eagerly learning about planetary governance like a student just starting.
The numerous generals around him also wore smiles, especially the young Major General Carroll, who was filled with admiration for Omega, whom he had never met.
After the communication ended again, Governor Kroll seemed somewhat reluctant to leave. Seeing this, Major General Carroll asked softly, "Your Excellency, that person is truly exceptional, as if he is omniscient and capable of solving any problem."
"Don't tell me you are considering letting him try governing Faran?"
"No!" Governor Kroll immediately replied.
"Why?" General Dornan asked curiously, "I've seen you talking quite well with them these past few days. Is there a problem?"
Governor Kroll turned to the generals and revealed his plan. "I intend to give the entire sector to Lord Alpharius. Only when the entire sector is ruled and governed by the Alpha Legion will I believe that the people of the sector will live happy lives."
"As for the Emperor, I don't trust him. He's too busy for us mortals, Hmph!"
Upon hearing the phrase "the Emperor is too busy," everyone present nodded in agreement. Through their interactions over this period, they had come to believe in Omega's talent and character, and therefore trusted him to save their world and the entire sector.
...
On the opposite bridge, Omega was both delighted and shocked by the answer, while Captain Skol and the others were dumbfounded.
"Lord Primarch is truly amazing!" Norton exclaimed with a slight smile.
The other company commanders stared at Omega in disbelief. They hadn't expected that a war could be so easily resolved with just a few days of conversation, and they admired the Primarch's compelling planetary governance capabilities.
Skol thought to himself, "This is our genetic father...all-powerful, too powerful!"
Omega, however, was in a great deal of trouble. He already had three star sectors, so wouldn't taking over another one be too overwhelming?
He had no problem with just taking over the Faran system, so he asked why the other party wanted him to govern the entire star sector.
The answer Omega received left him somewhat helpless. The hundreds of planets in the entire sector were in even worse condition than the Faran system, and the humans on those planets were already living in misery.
Omega wanted to refuse, but didn't voice it.
As soon as the call ended, Skol, seeing his lack of joy, immediately understood and laughed. "My Lord, this is a great thing. Anyway, the officers and tech-priests will be in charge of governing it; our Alpha Legion doesn't need to do it ourselves. It's not that troublesome!"
Norton, hearing this, quickly added, "I think so too. If Roboute Guilliman of the Ultramarines could govern so many planets, then our Primarch can absolutely too!"
"Ahem, you can't just say things like that!" Omega coughed to restore the Primarch's composure.
Did they really think that governing behind the scenes didn't take time and effort? Fighting wars and governing planets at the same time was not something that could be easily managed.
Afterwards, the two sides met formally, and Kroll, Dornan, and the others showed even greater respect and trust in Omega.
After both sides conducted a systematic analysis of the problems on Faran, Omega instructed Kroll to begin a large-scale reform and sent Space Marines and Imperial Army forces to assist him. Within a month, Kroll had pacified most of the planet.
At the same time, after the Kroll government carried out major reforms, it also launched a large-scale construction plan to absorb the unemployed population and distributed basic food rations to ordinary people.
The goal was to get the entire planet's stalled human social structure running again.
However, food was scarce in the early stages, so Omega generously provided his forces' food supplies and ordered his army to transport large quantities of food from the Alpha sector to sustain the planet for at least six months.
At the same time, large quantities of goods from Faran were purchased and sent to the Alpha sector, thereby meeting the planet's economic demand and restarting industrial production.
In just six months, this planet would be able to produce enough food to be self-sufficient and would no longer need the Alpha sector to provide it. Omega also significantly upgraded and integrated food cultivation and production technologies into a highly efficient system for the Faran planet.
However, this system overhaul also created a large number of unemployed workers.
Kroll and the others were astonished by what they witnessed, as if Omega could find the answer to any question.
The problems of billions of people on most of the planet, Faran, were gradually being resolved, but the other half of the planet, an entire continent, was being isolated by order of Omega due to a strange bleeding disease.
People with the hemorrhagic disease would have blood flowing out of their bodies inexplicably from various parts, with blood constantly leaking from their seven orifices like water.
Dead bodies could be seen lying everywhere on the streets from time to time, and pools of blood covered the ground. No one dared to touch them until they turned into skeletons.
The people of Reinharden called it the Demon's Curse. No one infected would survive; they would eventually bleed to death. The entire population of the continent was infected with this bizarre disease. Sometimes, a whole city could be wiped out by hemorrhagic plague, leaving behind an empty ghost town.
Upon hearing the news, Omega deemed it a terrifying viral infection and adopted isolation measures to prevent its spread to other continents.
He did not send troops to attack the mysterious continent of Reinharden. Instead, the legion's apothecaries conducted sample analysis to investigate whether the hemorrhagic virus could be cured.
Inside the spaceship's bridge, thousands of people in the data analysis teams were writing code and conducting targeted analyses on powerful cogitator array computers.
Just when everything was going smoothly, trouble emerged.
Inside a newly built research laboratory on a high mountain in the continent of Reinharden, several apothecaries in white coats were meticulously studying sealed samples of the virus, while armed Imperial Army soldiers stood guard in the corridor outside.
In a dozen sealed liquid containers, streaks of bright red blood danced and swirled in the white preservation fluid.
An apothecary, dressed in full protective gear, extracted a tiny amount of bright red blood and brought it to a precision testing instrument for microscopic analysis, while the other apothecaries watched nervously.
Suddenly, the sealed streaks of blood began to dance more animatedly, as if they were alive. This scene sent chills down the spines of the five apothecaries present. They felt as if these viruses were alive and greeting them, and an eerie atmosphere filled the entire research laboratory.
White snowflakes were falling on the mountain, and a strong wind was blowing, causing slight wrinkles to appear on the smooth, heavy-alloy exterior walls of the research lab.
As time passed, the thick alloy exterior walls developed more and more wrinkles. The metal wall, which was so tough that even tank shells couldn't damage it, suddenly started to show increasing wrinkles, as if it were aging rapidly.
Meanwhile, inside the sealed liquid containers at the research institute, several streaks of bright red blood clung tightly to the sealed inner walls, as if slowly trying to break through and escape.
