Chapter 917 - Chapter 868: The Giant Monster Appears

Everyone witnessed such a scene. A colossal monster of unknown origin suddenly appeared, striding through the city, its massive tail sweeping the streets like a giant broom.

The roads, designed for human use, could not withstand such immense pressure; every step the monster took left a shattered crater in the ground. It approached heavily and slowly, its tail sweeping aside parked vehicles and lampposts, and explosions burst incessantly at its feet, merging into a continuous blaze.

It was heading toward a building. The people inside fled in terror, as if racing against death in the last seconds of their lives.

But many knew it was futile—they had no chance of escaping before the monster toppled the building.

Unless someone intervened.

A dark torrent struck the side of the monster's face. The monster let out a low roar, its head turned left in a burst of blood mist.

It paused, changed its course, and turned fiercely to see who dared to provoke it.

He was a dark hero, clad in thick armor, with one arm a dragon's head roaring silently. Enormous, fearsome wings spread behind him, the bright moonlight pouring unreservedly over his sinister form.

Destiny Hero Plasma!

This was naturally the Plasma summoned by Ed.

Youyu, having reached level ten himself, no longer needed the spirit power of the original Plasma, especially since Youyu had a more utilizable physical version of Plasma. Hence, he had long returned the original card to Ed.

After all, Plasma was originally designed by Ed's father, and it was rightfully his. Youyu had only temporarily held onto it, waiting for Ed to grow into a competent Duelist, capable of wielding the card's power, before returning it to him.

And now, Ed evidently possessed such strength.

"Plasma!" Ed's Duel Disc was already activated, as he stood on a nearby rooftop, "Stop it!"

The enemy was formidable, but he stood up, blocking the giant beast's path, trying to halt its advance and reduce casualties.

Because he knew Yugi had done similar things more than once.

In private, Ed had watched the videos of Yugi sealing the Three Phantasm over and over, longing for the day he too could stand up like him, saving the people as a dashing hero.

After all, he, Ed Phoenix, was also a man destined to become the Duel King!

So, of course, he couldn't back down here!

The battle between the anti-hero and the giant monster commenced. Plasma was the first to attack, unleashing Blood Horror with countless blood-colored arrows striking the monster!

But nothing happened.

Then it was the giant monster's turn to counterattack. It opened its mouth and unleashed a high-pressure water cannon, also hitting Plasma directly. The effect...

... was overwhelming!

With just one strike, Plasma was blown away. His body shot backward like a cannonball, piercing through the high-rise building behind him from front to back. He flew diagonally downwards, crashing into the ground with a thunderous roar, creating a huge crater.

Ed's expression changed subtly.

Such immense power.

In its current state, Destiny Hero Plasma no longer possessed the Light of Destruction, and as a spirit, its power couldn't compare to its peak, but it was still a strong presence in the Duel Monster Realm.

To think it had no power to retaliate against this giant monster.

Having grown up alongside his father, a card designer, Ed considered himself quite knowledgeable about Monster Cards in the professional circle.

Yet even after searching through the Memory World, he couldn't recall any series of cards containing this giant creature.

What on earth is this?

Ed even began to doubt whether this thing was a spirit of a Duel Monster.

Plasma had been blown away and was unlikely to recover quickly, but unfortunately, the monster seemed to have locked onto Plasma's handler—Ed's location.

Ed realized this was not good.

He managed to slide down the roof slope just before the monster's overwhelming palm descended. The building seemed to explode right behind him, as the entire rooftop vanished under the monster's blow.

Ed was nearly caught up in the collapsing rooftop. He hung precariously from the edge of the shattered rooftop, his body dangling, with his entire weight supported by his arms.

He had never been more grateful for those push-ups he had done routinely.

But the monster had no intention of sparing him. Its massive eyes seemed to narrow, like it was mocking the duelist who dared challenge it.

Ed imagined the creature contemplating whether to steam or braise him.

Plasma needed more time to return—it might be too late. His only way to avoid becoming a monster's appetizer seemed to be trusting in his luck and free-falling...

Bang!

A heavy blow, like a blunt object, hit the monster's head. The enormous blue creature let out a wail, clutching its head as it toppled to the side.

As the beast fell, it was like an avalanche. The ground shattered upon impact, sinking a level. Dust rose into the sky, and a ruptured underground water pipe shot a clear water column into the air.

A black-and-white twin cyclone swirled in the sky. Gradually, a warrior's outline appeared at the center of the storm.

He had a symmetrically black-and-white body, harnessing the chaotic storm, with a helmet trailing black-and-white ribbons billowing in the wind.

Contrast Hero Chaos!

Ed was immediately thrilled, "Yugi!"

A black armed helicopter descended from the night, its rotor blades roared like steel. The door marked with the "KC" insignia swung open, and Yugi stood at the edge of the cabin, his coat swaying in the whirlwind of the rotors.

"Sir, getting any closer will be dangerous!" the pilot cautioned.

It's hard to blame him. Seeing that giant creature struggling to rise on the ground, any normal person would feel fear.

"It's fine, get closer," Yugi said.

The pilot, helpless, complied.

After all, he is the boss, right?

Through the dust, Yugi finally got a clear look at the giant creature's appearance.

A blue body as sturdy as rock, massive in size, its most prominent feature was the gigantic shell on its back, making it look like a giant turtle. The patterns beneath the shell resembled layers of overlapping scales, and its teeth were like a neatly arranged row of sharp saws.

Yugi recognized its identity on the spot—with such distinctive appearance that was almost universally recognized in the Duel Monster world, it would be hard for any Duelist not to recognize it.

Kaiju Gamsiel!

What? Unfamiliar with Yu-Gi-Oh! and never heard of this name?

Perhaps you might recognize its name in another parallel universe.

Because it is one of the iconic tokusatsu film stars who used to stand alongside the famous Godzilla—

—Giant Monster Gamera!
