As everyone knows, the card pool in the Yu-Gi-Oh series is all-encompassing. Aliens, Vampires, Mecha, Ninja... you can find almost any element within it.
In the series themed around "Heroes," we already have Masked Heroes, and there are civil servants from M78 who enforce intergalactic law, so naturally, their arch-nemeses are not absent — Kaiju, the professional Earthquake and Tsunami-causing monsters.
That is the "Kaiju" series of Card Decks.
Kaiju is actually a transliteration, and its pronunciation is "Kaiju." It is translated as "Kaiju" merely for differentiation, but in fact, it refers to the representation of giant creatures in the general sense of film and television works, which are also the villains that M78 civil servants specialize in dealing with.
Every Kaiju in this series corresponds to notable characters in famous tokusatsu works and is a well-known dominator in their respective parallel universes.
For example, the large turtle currently wreaking havoc in the city corresponds to the prototype "Giant Monster Gamera," a representative character in Japanese monster movies once as famous as Godzilla.
However, even for those who are not familiar with tokusatsu, "Kaiju Turtle Gamciel" is a flood beast that instills fear in the hearts of duelists.
All because of one seemingly ordinary line on this card: This card can use an opponent's Monster as a tribute to Special Summon in Attack Position onto their field.
Just this one simple line is enough to dominate all kinds of immortals in the Yu-Gi-Oh World. Whether you're the invincible Red Dad, the prestigious Three Egyptian Gods, or the anime's Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon with absolute resistance, all can be turned into a turtle in an instant...
Because "using the opponent's field Monster as a tribute to Summon" is its Summoning condition, its nature is like using "Obelisk the Tormentor as a tribute to Summon the Dark Magician Girl," no effect resistance can withstand it.
You racked your brains, exhausted all resources, explaining for five minutes, and finally summoned a Monster you think is invincible...
...only to be instantly turned into this clumsy turtle in the next turn.
Anyone who has experienced this kind of despair would never forget the terror of the turtle.
Moreover, similar Monsters like Lava Golem require two Monsters on the opponent's field to Summon, and the Winged Dragon of Ra's sphere form needs three. But our turtle only requires one tribute, meaning it can easily eliminate any single big Monster, without being picky at all.
The characteristics of the Kaiju series indeed well reflect the traits of tokusatsu Monsters — they can eat anything, and it seems there is nothing in this world they cannot digest.
Of course, the strike from the Chaotic Hero couldn't just easily one-shot the Kaiju Turtle. Gamciel shook its head and clambered back up, glaring angrily at the black and white Hero in mid-air.
And just when Youyu thought it was ready to pick itself up and battle for three hundred rounds with the Masked Hero, this creature nonchalantly turned 360 degrees in place and scrambled away.
Such a big turtle, its body instantly turned translucent and vanished without a trace into thin air.
But its presence didn't completely dissipate. On the contrary, after the Kaiju Turtle disappeared, Youyu could feel the power continuing to swell, growing stronger.
Standing at the edge of the cockpit, Youyu's gaze quickly swept through the ruins below and soon pinpointed the source of that power.
Or, more accurately, that guy didn't seem to have planned on hiding at all.
The man wore a black suit, with a scruffy beard and rectangular-framed glasses perched on his nose, the lenses reflecting a white gleam.
The street had long been empty when the Kaiju Turtle swaggered through, leaving him conspicuously standing amidst the dilapidated ruins.
Moreover, with the sinister smile at the corner of his lips, staring directly at the armed helicopter overhead, his punchable expression seemed to say —
— Yes, I let that turtle loose, come hit me if you can.
As a Duel King who has always been eager to help, Youyu decided without hesitation to fulfill this guy's request.
Seeming to discern Youyu's intention, the pilot in the cockpit front seat said, "Sir, we can land right now..."
"No need."
As soon as those words were uttered, Youyu had already leaped from the cockpit, descending vertically in free fall.
The Wind-Attribute Masked Hero's ability activated, cushioning his fall and adjusting his stance, landing steadily amidst the street's ruins.
Youyu discovered it.
The superhero landing...
...truly can be addictive!
Pretending to be cool feels great for a moment; pretending continuously feels great all the time.
Upon landing and standing firm, Youyu took a closer look and found, hmm, this guy isn't a novice... ah, oops, isn't this the famous DD?
DD, the "third-rate duelist with a fourth-rate card deck" mentioned in the original work, possessed by the Light of Destruction in distress and killed Ed's father to seize the Blood Devil D's card, later became Ed's foster father.
Back then, Youyu had dealt with the Light of Destruction within the Blood Devil D and thought this guy would fade into the backdrop of history.
Never expected him to stir trouble again?
Actually, from the moment the Kaiju Turtle appeared, Youyu felt the strong energy fluctuation from it was somewhat familiar. It's just that he had confronted too many villains to remember immediately.
Only when he saw DD's face and linked it to the storyline related to GX did he suddenly remember.
Whoa, damn, this energy feels a bit like that Light of Destruction!
"Duel King?"
Clearly supposed to be an inconsequential minor duelist, DD recognized Youyu's identity, yet showed no signs of fear, instead embodying the traditional villainous trait in Yu-Gi-Oh of "dark transformation inflation," with an expression fully confident.
"Ha! I was just worrying about finding a suitable opponent to test my current strength. Truly, when you're drowsy, someone brings you a pillow." DD smirked with a twisted mouth, adjusting his glasses in the process.
Youyu raised an eyebrow, "So, do you think you can beat me?"
"Exactly."
DD's face was full-on villain mode, as villains do, bringing out a sense of confidence.
"Let me guess, your confidence comes from that big turtle just now, right?" Youyu continued, "Was that Monster just now your doing?"
"Correct."
DD seemed genuinely unconcerned with hiding it, brimming with pride like a child showing off a new toy.
He revealed the card to Youyu — "Kaiju Turtle Gamciel," then began to laugh wildly.
"Even you, Duel King, are at most just a king in this world. But I have mastered a power not belonging to this world!"
If there was any doubt until just now, when DD revealed this card, Youyu was already entirely convinced.
No mistake.
This "Kaiju Turtle Gamciel" contains the Light of Destruction from the GX Animation that intends to destroy the cosmic everything.
