Faced with the impenetrable defense centered around the god, The Supreme King, although still expressionless, seemed to have a lively look in his eyes.
It was as if the undefeated general seeking a worthy adversary had finally found a strong opponent that matched his own strength.
"Attack power of seven thousand, Slifer's strength is more than twice that of Malicious Bane!" Ed commented, "It can't be defeated easily this way!"
The Supreme King furrowed his brow slightly, seemingly without a breakthrough method in the short term, and played another card: "Then, I activate the Magic Card 'One Day of Peace' from my hand.
Both players draw one card from their Card Deck, but until the end of the next turn, all battle and effect damage that either player would receive becomes 0."
One Day of Peace is almost the pinnacle card for stalling in the entire game series. Only rule-type victories led by cards like "Dark Great Mage" can ignore its defense; otherwise, no method can deal substantive damage during the effective period of One Day of Peace.
Youyu drew a card, gladly accepting the rare peace agreement during the duel, and reminded: "But at this moment, Slifer's attack power also increases."
[Slifer the Sky Dragon, Attack Power 7000 → Attack Power 8000]
The Sky Dragon roared at this moment, the azure lightning streaking across its back, illuminating the sky.
Yet The Supreme King remained unmoved: "Set two cards face-down on the field, turn ends."
He paused and added: "At this moment, the effect of 'Blind Spot Strike' ends, reducing the attack power of 'Evil Hero Malicious Bane'.
[Evil Hero Malicious Bane, Attack Power 5200 → Attack Power 3200]
"Turn ends."
"Then it's my turn, I draw." Youyu said.
[Slifer the Sky Dragon, Attack Power 8000 → Attack Power 9000]
Slifer's power increases once more!
Of course, no matter how high the attack power is, under the protection of One Day of Peace, damage cannot be dealt. Plus, Malicious Bane cannot be destroyed, making an attack meaningless.
However...
"I activate the Magic Card 'Advance Draw' from my hand!" Youyu declared, "I use a level eight or higher monster as a tribute to draw two cards from my Card Deck.
I use 'Elemental Hero Absolute Zero' as a tribute to draw cards from my deck!"
Absolute Zero disappears as a light dot, and the icy storm sweeps mightily across the opponent's field!
"The moment Absolute Zero leaves the field, the 'Absolute Zero' effect triggers, destroying all my monsters." The Supreme King said coldly, "But it's useless, Malicious Bane cannot be destroyed."
"I know." Youyu replied, "But at the moment of drawing, Slifer's attack power rises again."
[Slifer the Sky Dragon, Attack Power 9000 → Attack Power 10000]
"Then, I activate the Continuous Magic 'Infinite Cards' from my hand!" Youyu announced, "As long as Infinite Cards exist on the field, the hand card limit in this duel for me increases from six to unlimited.
Meaning, even if I exceed six hand cards at the end of the turn, I do not need to discard."
The appearance of this card also marked the formal formation of the "Sky Dragon Union Deck" developed by Mr. Ma at the time!
With the draw-increasing "Jar of Greed," the defense-consolidating "Jam Defender," and the "Infinite Cards" that can infinitely enhance the Sky Dragon's power, this is the ultimate form and the perfect lineup that Mr. Ma had developed for the Sky Dragon!
Looking back, had it not been for the king's nonsensical maneuvers in the original work, not only brainwashing the opponent's graveyard monster but also somehow reviving the opponent's monsters on his own field, otherwise, following the rules, Mr. Ma's setup back then would have been difficult to dismantle.
After all, one Sky Dragon is sufficiently overpowered, and with such a luxurious package, it's quite overwhelming.
"Set two cards face-down, turn ends." Youyu said blandly, "At this moment, the effect of 'One Day of Peace' also ends. Magic cannot protect you forever."
The Supreme King gazed indifferently at the Sky Dragon with an attack power of seven thousand, glanced at Youyu, and spoke heavily.
"I knew long ago that you would summon a god in this duel." He said.
"Oh?" Youyu raised his eyebrow.
"The strength of the Three Egyptian Gods is indeed formidable, perhaps truly the most powerful monsters in this dimension. But no matter which god you summon, I have prepared countermeasures.
Just like this!"
The Supreme King shouted clearly.
"Flip Cover Card! Continuous Trap 'Enervating Mist'!"
Youyu squinted: "This card is..."
"As long as this Continuous Trap exists," The Supreme King stated, "the opponent's hand card limit in this duel...becomes five!"
"Interesting..."
Youyu stared at him intensely.
"Not bad." He said mildly, "As a teacher, it's hard not to feel gratified."
"For victory, any means are of no concern, only victory proves the strength." The Supreme King responded indifferently, "I acknowledge your dueling prowess in that aspect, that's it."
When two continuous effects conflict, the later effect usually takes precedence.
Infinite Cards adjusted Youyu's hand card limit to infinite, but Enervating Mist refreshed the duel rules, adjusting the limit back to five.
And now it happens to be Youyu's end phase, meaning he must discard two cards until his hand count reaches five according to the rules.
Two cards sent to the graveyard, Slifer's attack power decreases.
[Slifer the Sky Dragon, Attack Power 7000 → Attack Power 5000]
Ed frowned: "This guy has Judai's memory, he knows all of Youyu-sensei's cards and tactics..."
"Draw." The Supreme King said, "At the preparatory phase, the effect of 'Evil Hero Infernal Gainer' removed from play two turns ago activates.
When this card is removed from play by its own effect, two turns later during its own preparatory phase, the card is special summoned in attack position.
Dimensional distortion, currents pierce through the space barrier. Clad in skeletal armor, bristling with bone-like spikes, the Evil Hero returns to the field.
[Evil Hero Infernal Gainer, Attack Power 1600]
"But at this moment, Slifer's effect also activates." Youyu waved grandly, "Thunder Force Attack!"
The mouth atop Slifer slowly opens, thunderous light sphere long brewed inside! The electrified sphere roars forth, obliterating the 1600 attack power Evil Hero instantly.
"Thunder Force Attack destroys attack position monsters with attack power less than 2000 directly." Youyu said, "As for monsters with attack power above 2000, they lose 2000 attack points... I assume you're aware of this, correct?"
"Doesn't matter." The Supreme King raised his head, declaring victoriously, "This turn, you and your Egyptian God...will be halted here!"
