"Naruto, what happened?" Yamato asked Uzumaki Naruto as he approached after extinguishing the flames.
He was just as confused about the current situation. He had been battling enemies amidst ruins, only to suddenly find himself in a bustling town in the next moment.
Uzumaki Naruto grinned and pointed at Kakashi, saying, "Captain Yamato, look who I ran into! Kakashi-sensei actually has a kid, and he's about the same age as Konohamaru."
"No way, how could that be...?" Yamato instinctively wanted to deny Naruto's words.
He's known Kakashi for so long; he would know if Kakashi had been single all this time. But when he saw the boy Naruto was pointing at, he was momentarily stunned.
With so many clones of Naruto around, and the scene obstructed by flames and water waves, Yamato had not had a clear view. Upon closer inspection, he realized the boy Naruto was pointing at really resembled Hatake Kakashi.
The same silver hair, the black mask covering half of his face, no scars by the eyes, and unlike Kakashi, lively eyes full of spirit. It was like a young version of Kakashi.
"And his last name is Hatake too," Uzumaki Naruto said with a chuckle.
In Naruto's eyes, there was no doubt; this silver-haired boy was definitely Kakashi's son, given the resemblance and the matching surname. What else could he be?
Yamato was too astonished to speak. With a surname like Hatake, it seemed certain this was Kakashi's son. Hatake wasn't a common name like Watanabe Tanaka.
It was palpable; Kakashi's fists were clenched tight.
Kakashi glared at Yamato and Uzumaki Naruto, feeling an unusually strong urge to hit someone. If he didn't think he would lose, he might have already gone up to punch both of them.
Uzumaki Naruto's strength needed no mention, having demonstrated vast and unfathomable Chakra along with a formidable No-seal Jutsu.
And Yamato, just moments ago, released a tidal wave of Water Release without forming any seals, clearly a strong Water Release Ninja.
Just as Kakashi was furious, Obito wanted to laugh, finding it all extremely amusing. First, a disciple of Kakashi had emerged, now a descendant.
But given they were in battle, Obito held back his laughter, only letting it slip out when he couldn't contain it.
"If he's really Kakashi-senpai's son, then why did you end up fighting?" Yamato asked Naruto, puzzled.
"It wasn't me trying to bully him; he was the one who wanted to fight," explained Naruto.
"I even handed over my Ninja Certificate, yet he insisted I wasn't a Konoha Ninja, and that's how the fight started."
Even if Hatake Kakashi found out afterwards, Naruto felt he was justified.
"This..." Yamato's expression became more questioning, suspecting Naruto might have left out some crucial details. How could such a reason lead to a fight?
As for not recognizing Naruto, Yamato didn't see it as strange. Although Uzumaki Naruto was well-known in Konoha, not everyone was familiar with him.
For instance, he had known Kakashi for over a decade without knowing he had a son.
"Naruto might not be the best communicator, so let me handle this. I'm Yamato, a Jonin from Konoha. Here's my Ninja Certificate," Yamato said, taking his credentials from his Ninja Pouch and showing them to Kakashi.
"What's this about me not being a good communicator?" Naruto grumbled, feeling unjustly blamed.
Yamato ignored Naruto's complaints temporarily, meticulously observing the three before him and their reactions.
At Yamato's words, Kakashi's gaze sharpened as he looked at the certificates Yamato handed over.
His primary focus was on the ninja registration number, and as expected, it was absurd.
This self-proclaimed Konoha Jonin, Yamato, had a ninja number of 010992. If he were a Konoha ninja, he'd have to be from the same graduation class as Obito.
Graduating less than a year ago, leaping straight from Genin to Jonin, no sensible ninja novel would dare to depict it so. If he weren't struggling to delay and wait for Mokgetsu, Kakashi might have sarcastically commented.
"What do we do now?" Obito, falling out of the Breath of Flame Chakra Mode, quietly asked Kakashi as he walked over.
He's not truly naive; judging by the stance opposite, it seemed like they couldn't win.
Nohara Rin also approached, looking at Kakashi.
Although there was no designated captain within their team, in such situations, Kakashi usually made the decisions.
"Do not speak much and adapt according to my words," Kakashi calmly sighed.
Further combat was impossible—Kakashi's duty was to wait for Mokgetsu.
"Hmm, no problem. Hello, Jonin Yamato, it was all a misunderstanding earlier," Kakashi said, handing Naruto's Ninja Certificate back to him.
If they intended to disguise as Konoha Ninja, Kakashi decided to humor them, taking them to visit Mokgetsu.
Kakashi couldn't believe these two ninjas could surpass the AB combo of the Hidden Cloud.
"What's that about Captain Yamato's?" Naruto studied his Ninja Certificate, compared it to Yamato's, and didn't notice any differences.
Yamato nodded with a smile, putting away his credentials.
"Are you two pursuing a ninja called Mukade? I happened to hear our captain mention this name earlier. Why don't I take you to meet our captain as compensation for the misunderstanding?" Kakashi said earnestly, as he put on a Konoha Headband from his Ninja Pouch.
