"Fire Release: Great Fireball Jutsu!"
Although somewhat surprised, Uchiha Fugaku's good ninja qualities prevented him from delaying the release of the Ninjutsu. After completing the hand seals, he immediately spat out a large mass of flames forming a gigantic fireball.
Just as Uchiha Fugaku completed his Great Fireball release, Shisui's Great Fireball had already traveled a short distance.
Fortunately, the two were not too close, so Uchiha Fugaku wasn't immediately confronted by Shisui's attack right after finishing his jutsu.
Boom!!
The two large Great Fireballs collided, a huge explosion sounded, flames erupted, and heat waves surged. Finally, the two Great Fireballs dissipated in the air, leaving only a scorched patch of ground.
"Not only can he release without hand seals, but the power is also so strong. What has Shisui been through these past few months to have improved so dramatically?" Uchiha Fugaku wondered in his heart.
Counteracting Ninjutsu with the same Nature Transformation is the best way to see the level of Nature Transformation. If it's the same jutsu, even more so.
The two Great Fireballs cancelling each other out was unexpected for Uchiha Fugaku, especially since he had just used most of his strength. After all, he was the Clan Leader of Konoha's foremost noble family, and Shisui was just an eight-year-old genius.
A few months ago, during the Chunin Examination, Uchiha Fugaku went to the scene to watch Shisui's battle. Back then, Shisui's Fire Release wasn't nearly this strong.
"The Clan Leader's strength is indeed extraordinary," Shisui thought to himself.
Just now, it was his full-power Fire Release under the Breath of Flame Chakra Mode, different from the usual Fire Release.
However, this was within Shisui's expectation. The strength of the Uchiha Jonin was well-known in the Ninja World, and within the clan, the strong are respected. If Uchiha Fugaku weren't strong, he wouldn't be able to command respect.
Based on Shisui's observation, Uchiha Fugaku was quite influential within the Uchiha Clan.
"Fire Release: Impatiens Fire Jutsu!"
After some thought, Shisui chose the faster and more flexible Impatiens Fire Jutsu.
Although the Breath of Flame Chakra Mode can enhance Fire Release, it only speeds up the release and increases the flame's power, without altering some inherent weaknesses of certain jutsu.
While releasing fireballs, Shisui ran around Uchiha Fugaku, forming a network of small fireballs arching towards him.
"Still releasing without hand seals, utilizing Ninjutsu in an untraditional manner," Uchiha Fugaku evaluated internally while avoiding with Instant Body Jutsu.
Uchiha Fugaku felt slightly embarrassed, as Shisui's Fire Release performance seemed beyond his ability to guide.
Even though with full effort Shisui would definitely not be his opponent, essentially their Fire Releases weren't too far apart, making it difficult for Uchiha Fugaku to guide Shisui.
Yet, as the leader of the clan, Uchiha Fugaku had his pride. If he couldn't guide in Fire Release, he would direct combat.
"Fire Release: Fire Dragon Flame Bomb!"
As Fugaku prepared to counterattack, Shisui gathered large amounts of Chakra within and converted it into Fire Attribute Chakra before forcefully exhaling.
A mass of flames combined to quickly form a small sea of fire spreading towards Uchiha Fugaku.
"What strong flames," Uchiha Fugaku thought, feeling the heat conveyed by the flames.
Ready to attack Shisui, Uchiha Fugaku stopped abruptly. Such an evidently challenging jutsu couldn't be charged into directly.
Since it was an open space lacking materials for the firesea's expansion, Shisui immediately controlled the flames to divide into three fire dragons attacking Uchiha Fugaku from three directions.
"Fire Release: Mighty Dragon Fire Jutsu!"
Uchiha Fugaku retreated while forming seals, using just the Tiger Seal to release a large fire dragon, neutralizing one of the divided fire dragons from the Fire Dragon Flame Bomb.
Though Uchiha Fugaku couldn't release Fire Release without seals, he was proficient enough to reduce seals.
Subsequently, Uchiha Fugaku activated his Sharingan to enhance insight, dodging the impact of the two remaining fire dragons.
Yet, as Uchiha Fugaku prepared to attack again, Shisui suddenly stopped.
"Thanks, Uncle Fugaku, I am out of Chakra to continue fighting," Shisui said politely.
In reality, Shisui still had some Chakra left. Although the Breath of Flame Chakra Mode consumed a lot of Chakra, Shisui, having awakened the Three Tomoe Sharingan, had more Chakra than average people.
But with so little Chakra left, Shisui felt further fighting was futile.
After all, he had roughly gauged Uchiha Fugaku's strength.
This left Uchiha Fugaku at a loss, having been pressured the whole time, and just when he was ready to shine, his opponent conceded.
Yet, Uchiha Fugaku found it hard to say anything since Uchiha Shisui was his junior.
"Ahem, Shisui, your Fire Release is already excellent, just continue cultivation as before," Uchiha Fugaku said, adjusting his mood with a light cough.
Despite the awkwardness, Uchiha Fugaku wasn't one to fabricate for pride; he genuinely couldn't guide Shisui's current Fire Release.
Not to mention guidance, frankly, Uchiha Fugaku couldn't quite understand Shisui's Fire Release now, finding it peculiar.
Not only were all Fire Releases seal-free, but the flame power was also high, entirely uncharacteristic of someone who's only practiced Fire Release for a few years.
The ability to release all Fire Releases without seals puzzled Uchiha Fugaku the most; he couldn't fathom how Shisui achieved it.
"Perhaps this is what a true genius is," Uchiha Fugaku sighed inwardly.
Though hailed as a genius in his youth, he couldn't match Shisui or Obito.
"Thank you, Uncle Fugaku, for your guidance," Shisui expressed his gratitude.
Uchiha Fugaku kept a stern face, nodding slightly in response.
After the battle with Uchiha Fugaku, Shisui spent some time alone with Uchiha Itachi, sharing some positive stories.
The next day, Shisui formally underwent the Jonin examination.
However, Shisui was surprised that his examiner turned out to be Uchiha Fugaku, whom he had fought the previous day.
This time, Shisui didn't immediately enter the Breath of Flame Chakra Mode with full power but rather tested step-by-step with normal combat.
Shisui started with Fire Release to force positioning, then threw ninja tools, tested with Taijutsu, and finally used the Breath of Flame Chakra Mode to unleash full power.
After fifteen minutes of combat, seeing Fugaku's satisfied smile, Shisui felt confident that his practical score would be favorable.
During the afternoon written exam, Shisui clearly sensed the difference in difficulty between the Jonin examination and the Chunin Examination.
For Shisui, the Chunin Exam hadn't been long ago, so he still remembered some of the exam questions. The two were completely on different levels.
Were it not for Shisui continuing his studies post-graduation, he wouldn't have been confident about passing the written test.
