Lana's POV
The house felt too quiet.
Not peaceful.
Not calm.
Just… empty.
I sat on the couch, staring at my phone, reading the same messages over and over again—none from Leo.
No explanation.
No reassurance.
Just silence.
A knock on the door broke the stillness.
I frowned.
Leo had a key.
Slowly, I stood up and walked toward the door.
For a second, I hesitated.
Then I opened it.
And my heart dropped.
"Mick."
He leaned casually against the frame, hands in his pockets, like he had every right to be there.
"Miss me?" he smirked.
My grip tightened on the door.
"What are you doing here?"
"Visiting," he replied smoothly. "Can't I check on my favorite mistake?"
Anger flared instantly.
"Leave."
He didn't move.
"Wow," he sighed. "Still cold. I thought you'd at least be curious."
"I'm not."
He tilted his head, eyes scanning my face.
"Really? Not even a little curious about what your boyfriend is doing right now?"
My heart skipped—but I refused to react.
"Get out, Mick."
He chuckled.
"You know, I always liked this about you," he said. "Acting strong even when you're breaking."
"I'm not breaking."
"Not yet," he corrected.
Silence stretched.
Then he stepped closer.
Not enough to touch.
Just enough to invade my space.
"Do you know where Leo is?" he asked softly.
"I don't care."
"Liar."
My jaw tightened.
He leaned in slightly, voice dropping—
"He's not at work."
My breath caught.
"He's with Chloe."
The words hit like ice.
"No," I said immediately.
Mick smiled slowly.
"You really want to believe that, don't you?"
"He told me it was business," I added, more to myself than to him.
"Of course he did," Mick said. "And you believed him. Just like you believed everything before."
My chest tightened painfully.
"Why are you doing this?" I whispered.
His expression darkened just for a second.
"Because you chose him," he said quietly.
"Over me."
I shook my head. "You lost me a long time ago."
"Did I?" he asked.
And before I could react—
He grabbed my wrist.
Not violently.
But firmly enough to stop me.
"You deserve the truth," he said. "Even if it hurts."
"Let go of me."
"Come with me," he insisted.
"No."
His grip tightened slightly.
"Just see it for yourself—"
The door suddenly slammed open wider.
"Get your hands off her."
Leo.
His voice was cold. Dangerous.
Mick let go instantly, stepping back with a slow smirk.
"Well… this just got interesting."
My heart was racing.
Leo stood there, eyes dark, jaw clenched, gaze locked on Mick like he was seconds away from losing control.
"Leave," Leo said.
Mick raised his hands casually.
"Relax. I was just helping."
"I said leave."
The air felt charged.
Tense.
Like something was about to explode.
Mick looked between us, amused.
"Careful, Lana," he said lightly.
"Not everything is what it seems."
And then he walked away.
The silence he left behind was heavier than his presence.
Leo turned to me.
His eyes softened—but only slightly.
"Are you okay?"
I nodded.
But my mind was still stuck on one thing.
He's with Chloe.
I looked at Leo.
And for the first time…
I didn't know what to believe.
