Chapter 490 - Chapter 455: Ambush Becomes All-Out Assault

At the same time, the Titan Squad, with the help of Steel Armor, had transformed a sonic boom transmission room, planning to launch themselves onto an alien spaceship in geosynchronous orbit like a cargo shipment.

They picked a spaceship that looked the biggest and most luxurious as their target.

Generally speaking, isn't the flagship always the largest? That logic makes sense.

In fact, it's because Batman didn't tell them about the Blood Reef, that giant Cosmic Coral Mountain was the alien's unsinkable flagship...

And the naive Titans clumsily squeezed into the transmission room, each securing themselves in a seat.

"Nat, accelerate!"

Gass immediately self-appointed as the captain, ordering Steel Armor to quickly pilot this contraption and take off.

Steel Armor's name is Natasha Jasmine Ailes, so Gass called her Nat, a close nickname among teammates.

However, while he might use nicknames for Donna and Raven, and even Beast Boy, Steel Armor is actually a new member of the Titans and barely knows him, so this was quite impolite.

Fortunately, Steel Armor is a scientist, and her attention wasn't on things like addressing. She looked at Gass as if he were an idiot.

"This is a kind of sound transmission, it's point-to-point transmission, there's no such thing as acceleration."

"Uh, just get it moving then." Gass scratched his head, too profound, can't understand!

"Actually, it's space moving, not us..."

Steel Armor was adjusting the equipment and planning to explain more, but Raven stopped her from continuing.

Gass is a standard Berserker; no matter how much you explain, it's useless. He, like the Sea King, only knows to charge and slash.

If Steel Armor wants to integrate into the team, she needs to learn more from her. Raven never tries to explain the principles of magic to Gass; that would drive Gass crazy.

Now it seems, science doesn't work either.

"Chat with him about the ecology of fish." Donna, sitting in the back row with her arms crossed, said helplessly.

She even somewhat misses the times when she acted with Deathstroke. Although his plans often seemed very bizarre and disgusting,

the results were undoubtedly good, achieving tactical and strategic goals 100 percent of the time.

She only needed to assist a little, protect the mages, and clear out the minor enemies.

Plus, he left cleanly afterward, leaving all the credit for saving the Magic Realm to her and Bo Bo and Zatanna.

Neither mercenaries nor hired mages care much about reputation.

And now, if it weren't for the alien invasion, Donna should have been welcome among the Warlocks.

Although there's now a cost to casting spells, it's better than having no magic at all, right? Losing magic or seeing others turned into grotesque corpses by magic made them begin to cherish the magic they previously took for granted.

It's not an inherent power, but rather a hard-earned treasure; all magic comes at a price.

As someone who saved the Magic Realm, Donna was imagined by the Warlocks to be the contract holder of the Inverted Man. Her reputation was booming, and she could easily rally a warlock team stronger than her sister's Dark Justice League, with just a call.

However, Donna did not do this, partly because of the alien sea race invasion, with Earth in imminent danger.

On the other hand, she clearly had no merit, and the credit that Deathstroke didn't want, she couldn't take either.

Amazons would never claim someone else's hunt.

If someone else hunted the prey and gave her a piece, she could accept it, after all, she'd share her own hunt next time as a return gift. But if it was someone else's discarded prey, she'd let it rot on the spot rather than pick it up.

This is the dignity of an Amazon Warrior.

On this thought, she began to worry about the issues on Paradise Island.

As a small island, how's it doing now?

Before, it was protected by divine power, but now that the Inverted Man is ascending, aren't the divine powers of Earth's gods invalidated?

The powers they stole from Hecate were in fact what Hecate stole from the Inverted Man, and now the rightful owner has returned, becoming a new concept of the Main World.

Although the divine artifact equipment can still be used, the divine power arrays on Paradise Island might not be, as they are maintained by the Witch Council, requiring daily prayers to recharge.

But she was a little too slow to realize; Batman foresaw this long ago. Although he didn't know exactly what happened in the Magic Realm, he could observe the whole world through satellites early on.

This morning, he discovered Paradise Island was being flooded.

He knew that if Diana disappeared and he let all the Amazons on Paradise Island turn into fish, he'd have no way to explain it to Diana when she returned.

The unity of the Justice League could potentially be disrupted; he must avoid this.

Thus, Batman dispatched the Young Justice League, led by Diana and Donna's niece Cassie, to evacuate the Amazons from Paradise Island.

The reason for choosing Cassie was her mother being a close friend to Diana and Donna, though not an Amazon, her mom was sisters to these two Amazons by name.

However, the relationship is somewhat confusing as Cassie's father is Zeus, making her indeed a Demigod... Logically speaking, she is Diana and Donna's sister.

Diana couldn't care less about Zeus' issues, she insisted on addressing Cassie from the female side, making her Cassie's aunt, while Donna is the younger aunt.

Batman told Cassie to make the Amazons understand that evacuating Paradise Island isn't to look down on the female warriors, but it is an order from their Queen, Diana, which they just have to execute.

Cassie just rolled her eyes at that moment; the adult world is full of lies, clearly, Diana is missing, yet Batman still uses her name to issue orders.

It's conceivable that if, upon arriving at a temporary settlement, and they didn't see Diana, what kind of reckoning they would have with Batman afterward.

It's important to know that the Amazonians never lack legendary warriors. Besides Diana and Donna, there are plenty of well-known female warriors out there.

Each one of them can break Batman's ribs like Diana.

But since the Justice League is led by Batman, Cassie followed his orders.

So, members of the Young Justice League were among the first to leave the Hall of Justice, not even getting a chance to meet the Titans.

While Donna was deep in thought, Steel Armor finally completed the adjustment work, turning a device originally used for Earth-based teleportation into a cannon aimed at the cosmos, with the added challenge of making it return.

Even for her, a young lady at the pinnacle of the world's quantum physics research, sweat trickled down her face.

But fortunately, it worked.

The next instant, the view outside their transmission pod changed.

The once snow-white alien rock walls of the Hall of Justice turned into a mysterious glow of alien alloy.

They had arrived on the alien "flagship".

As the teleporter stopped, the roar and the violent shaking followed, everyone in the seats swaying back and forth.

Gass excitedly unfastened his seatbelt, his eyes bloodshot, breathing heavily like a bull, eager to rush out of the transmission pod.

The others had no choice but to follow.

The Titans had been working together for many years, with a set of mature tactics, albeit with a slightly problematic team composition.

Their current team consisted of Defense Warrior Donna, Berserker Gass, Weapon Warrior Steel Armor, Bear Form Druid Beast Boy, and an addition of Warlock Raven...

Needless to say, there are reasons they've been thrashed by Old Deathstroke over the years.

Building a long-term team with more warlocks is understandable, as magic is diverse.

For instance, Albella's magic is more destructive, and teleportation is convenient; whereas Zatanna's casting is faster, and the magic effects can reach higher limits.

But why have so many front-line tanks in one team? And that's without Nightwing; otherwise, there'd be another melee fighter.

Gass can cut with water blades, and Donna's Fire God Sword can do the same, and Steel Armor's two-handed warhammer works on the same principle.

However, Raven is undoubtedly the happiest little girl in the DC universe, not only having a "caring" father but also having four to five warriors protect her, a warlock, on their missions. What kind of treatment is that?

Meanwhile, underwater, surrounded by hundreds of the Sea Trench Race, Night Shadow only has two warriors for protection.

Too many melee fighters in the team can cause problems unless facing giant enemies like Barbatos; otherwise, when powerful opponents of ordinary human size appear, a bunch of melee fighters surrounding them...

Can you even swing your weapons? In avoiding enemy attacks, you'd probably get hit by your own teammates, right?

"We are conducting a decapitation operation, and I want our actions to be stealthy and silent," Gass said, his eyes red, turning to his teammates, as if he still retained some intelligence.

However, Steel Armor looked at him like he was an idiot, prompting him to look ahead.

"In fact, with sound transmission technology, when the fourth dimension reconnects with reality, it creates a tremendous noise, which is why it's called the 'sonic boom' passage!"

Gass turned his head and saw a large group of peculiar sea creatures, brandishing their weapons, rushing towards them from the corridor corner.

He sucked in a breath through his teeth, making a hissing sound, and rubbed his face.

"Alright, the plan changes to a frontal assault! Let's go!"

The Fish-Men on the other side seemed to have the same thought, charging at them with a battle cry that no one understood.

"Rua!!!!!"

"Raven, what are they saying?" Gass asked, raising his water blade, poised for battle. He had the ability to harden water, turning it into curved blades.

Such a meaningless question was indeed one that Gass would ask.

The composition of the Titan Squad did have its perks, allowing Raven to be very, very idle.

Idle because the warriors formed a human wall in front of her; sometimes she couldn't even see the road ahead and just had to stroll along, with no need to cast spells.

Though translation spells could be used casually, Raven didn't want to waste her energy on meaningless things.

"Even without magic, I can guess they're saying 'kill!' just like us."

Raven replied to Gass offhandedly.

Gass nodded earnestly as if motivated by some unknown source, turning his head and letting out a battle cry at the Fish-Men.

"Rua!!!!!"

He shouted louder and more menacingly than the Fish-Men.

In the next instant, Donna almost saw a look of confusion on the Fish-Men's faces, although she didn't know if alien facial expressions were the same as Earth's, she seemed to understand their thoughts from their eyes.

'The human on the other side isn't dumb, right?'

Rua!!! had a very complex meaning, as alien languages differ entirely from Earth languages. This seemingly short phrase was actually a specific sentence the alien sea race constructed over millennia.

It meant—'Cursed Earth creatures are only fit to die consuming feces at the bottom of the sea!' This was the alien sea race's most brutal punishment, making sinners burst from everyone's excrement.

And now Gass was shouting this phrase loudly, leaving the aliens somewhat dumbfounded.
