Chapter 77 - Chapter 77: The Eye of Odin

The replacement of my left eye with the eye from the well had been a gamble, but one that already paid dividends. Carefully, I used my mastery of healing magic and other intricate techniques to integrate the eye with my nervous system, threading its magic into the synapses of my brain. Pain flared briefly, sharp and intense, but I remained focused. Every pulse of energy from the eye sent ripples through my body, and soon I could feel its power settle into me like a second consciousness.

The first thing I noticed was the clarity. The world was suddenly sharper, more defined. And then the abilities revealed themselves, one by one.

True Sight. I glanced at the wall of the lab, and immediately I could see through the wood and stone, straight into the core of the building. The layers of materials became transparent in my vision, exposing beams, pipes, and hidden flaws I hadn't known were there.

X-Ray Vision. I tested it on a stack of books and a solid cabinet. Each item became almost ghostly in my view, every page, every binding, every hidden marking visible as though I could peer into the heart of matter itself.

See Through Invisibility. This one made my lips curl into a grin. Invisibility cloaks, magical concealments, and hidden wards—nothing could hide from this eye. Any wizard trying to sneak past me would be revealed instantly, no matter the charm they used.

360-Degree Vision. I rotated the eye experimentally, and for a moment the world swirled around me. I could see everything behind me, every angle, every shadow, as though the world had unfolded into a complete panorama. It was dizzying, but exhilarating.

Beyond these, the eye pulsed faintly with a current I recognized as magical energy. I could trace the flow of magic in the air, in objects, even in people. My own spells became easier to refine, more precise, and my perception of magical currents in the environment expanded exponentially.

But I knew these were only the basic abilities. Odin—assuming this truly was his eye—had surely imbued it with layers of hidden power, subtle effects designed for a mind capable of comprehending them. That realization made my pulse quicken with anticipation.

I set to work immediately, combining the insights I had gained from Mímisbrunnr with my ongoing research on magical flow, ancient magic, and transmutation. With the eye, I could detect weaknesses in runes, trace hidden enchantments, and predict magical reactions before they occurred.

Soul hovered nearby, watching with intelligent, golden eyes. "I can see why you wanted this," she said telepathically. "You've practically become a living sensor for magic itself."

I nodded, my gaze sweeping the room, reading every spell residue in the air, every rune etched into the walls, every trace of magical energy in my lab. "And this is just the beginning," I said. "The eye will teach me far more than I can even imagine. I can already see its potential—warding spells, invisibility detection, combat prediction, magical analysis… I haven't even begun to scratch the surface."

Hours passed as I tested it on everything I could find: magical artifacts, enchanted scrolls, even the faint magical remnants of past spells in the castle. Every experiment revealed more, more intricate layers of perception, more nuances of energy that had previously been invisible to me.

With the wisdom of the well and the eye of Odin combined, I was no longer just a powerful wizard—I was a force of perception and insight unlike any other in history. And deep inside, I knew that the true potential of this eye, and the knowledge it contained, was still far from fully revealed.

This was only the beginning.
