Chapter 121 - Chapter 120: Desperate Steve, Stryker Comes to Visit

The girls quickly tidied themselves up, stopping their fussing.

If there was anything they needed, they couldn't deal with it now, and they didn't dare provoke Leo.

They had more important things to do.

For example, they tested their strength, speed, and so on. Of course, their telekinesis had just awakened.

Except for No. 18, who could move dozens of pounds, Wanda and Natasha could barely shift a few coins.

Still, they were far stronger than the average teenagers in Chronicle, who could only move a needle when they first started.

After a few months, their strength reached tens of tons. With Wanda's innate talent, it would likely hit at least thirty tons.

Telekinesis grew slowly; the more they practiced, the stronger it became.

The force of a heavy blow could reach about ten tons, and their speed could hit roughly one hundred meters per second—about half the strength and speed of Spider-Man.

Leo and the girls were already very satisfied. This was the power of primary technology.

Later, Leo planned to snatch the leftover potions from the junkie Sentinel and study them carefully.

He wanted to turn all his harem members into Sentinels. His beautiful army would be unstoppable throughout the universe.

The Super T-Virus Serum's effect on Jean Grey was minimal, but it was still helpful given her current state—she hadn't fully mastered the Phoenix Force yet.

Wanda and Natasha, having just unlocked new abilities, were like kids with the best new toy.

They played endlessly, testing every piece of equipment in the gym with ease, feeling an indescribable excitement.

While some were thriving, others were downcast.

After Bucky was taken by Tony, Steve realized he was no match for him now.

He had no allies willing to help. Everything seemed to be sinking into an endless abyss.

A pained Steve sat alone by a deserted river, lost in thought.

"Alas, Bucky, I'm sorry. I really don't know how to save you."

His eyes were dim as he murmured to himself, facing the river. He felt desolate and helpless.

Suddenly, a figure sat beside him.

"Hello, let's get acquainted. My name is William Stryker."

Steve didn't even look up. He had no time to entertain opportunists.

Stryker's expression flickered with surprise. Was he really that stubborn?

"Hehe, Captain America, Steve Rogers, don't you want to know my purpose?" Stryker asked patiently. To achieve greatness, one needed composure.

"Your purpose? I don't care, and I'm not interested in helping anyone with their purpose," Steve replied, keeping his head down.

He just wanted to lie quietly but felt disturbed, annoyed.

"I can help you rescue Bucky. You join our team later. Want to consider that deal?"

Stryker's eyes gleamed playfully, as if it were already done.

In reality, his confidence wasn't fake.

The words "rescue Bucky" struck Steve like magic, grabbing his heart and forcing him to pay attention.

He snapped upright, eyes wide, grabbing Stryker by the collar. "Are you serious? What organization are you with?"

"Hehe, calm down, Steve, don't rush. Since I say so, we can do it."

"As for our organization, you don't need to know yet. We only provide help for rescuing Bucky. How you do it is up to you."

Stryker patted Steve's tense hands with a composed expression.

"Okay! I agree! As long as I can save Bucky, I'll do whatever you say."

"What do I need to do? I can't do this alone," Steve admitted, shaking his head.

"You don't need to worry. We have a way. Now come with me, and I'll let you complete your transformation."

"You'll be ten—or even a hundred—times stronger than now. Rescuing your brother will be a piece of cake," Stryker said in an eerie, conspiratorial tone.

Steve felt like he'd boarded a pirate ship.

Even if it was dangerous, even if it led to a bottomless abyss, he had no choice. This was his last straw. He had to save Bucky.

In an underground base in the suburbs of New York, Steve and Stryker had arrived.

"You brought me here for some experiment, didn't you?"

Steve glanced at the pale, gloomy environment.

His instincts screamed familiarity—he'd been in places like this before, back when he became Captain America.

"Oh? Seems Captain America has a lot of insight, doesn't he?" Stryker teased, a mysterious smile playing on his lips.

"Yes. This feeling… it's not unpleasant," Steve said, shrugging.

Trying to make the best of a bad situation, he comforted himself.
