The sea of suffering was boundless, yet salvation was finally at hand. There was no turning back.
Stryker and Bolivar had been making a fortune with their technology all this time.
How could tech from the Time Variance Authority not be extraordinary?
Even a tiny leak of something years ahead of its time would rake in unimaginable profits.
To the companies buying it, these two "genius tech dealers" were a godsend, though many secretly mocked them for being so short-sighted.
They sold all the golden geese, blind to their own potential—but the fools brought money, and that was all that mattered.
What the buyers didn't realize was that the tech they received was practically junk—discarded items no one else cared about.
With their wealth, Stryker and Bolivar quietly set up a shell company. They purchased materials and equipment, building a secret production line.
They didn't dare develop openly—they were still too weak to confront governments or major corporations.
Working day and night, the simple production line produced several Sentinel robots, though none were yet activated.
The workers only knew the factory made "robots"; no one saw the parts being secretly taken away.
The scale was small, just a few dozen units. They lived one day at a time, taking things as they came.
When Bolivar and Stryker saw Tony Stark battling Steve Rogers, they immediately sprang into action.
This was their chance, a heaven-sent opportunity.
They were especially fascinated by biotechnology. Sentinel robots were a form of genetic engineering, a unique blend of technology and biology.
Abomination was just a failed, castrated version of the Super Soldier Serum—a monster created from a broken experiment.
What would happen if the real Super Soldier Serum combined with Gamma Radiation?
They could hardly wait.
"Steve, we're going to irradiate you with Gamma Rays," Stryker finally revealed, his tone calm yet chilling.
"The goal is to create a rational Hulk. That's when you'll be at your strongest. Are you ready?"
Steve froze. Was this a gamble on his life? Anyone exposed to Gamma Radiation without preparation would die.
"This…"
Steve's mind reeled. Were they trying to kill him on purpose?
"Why the hesitation? We're not trying to kill you. This is… a gamble in your life," Stryker said smoothly.
"Whether you take the risk is up to you. We won't force you… but what about your poor brother?"
Stryker's shrug was indifferent, like a philanthropist expecting nothing in return—but his words made one thing clear: Steve had no choice.
Steve's mind whirled. On one side was a life-threatening experiment; on the other, a half-dead Bucky.
He gritted his teeth. He would take the risk.
"Haha! Congratulations on making the right choice. A person must always fight for his future," Bolivar said, stepping forward. "Time to carve out your own place in the world."
He guided Steve into the Gamma Ray irradiation chamber.
Everything was ready. Stryker and Bolivar's smiles grew twisted, almost gleeful.
"Haha, begin!"
Bolivar pressed a button. The chamber glowed brightly.
Gamma Rays—the most mysterious energy in the universe—repeatedly bombarded Steve. The pain hit instantly.
He wanted to faint, but he couldn't. Every attempt to escape the pain was crushed by the intensity of the radiation.
This was the beginning of metamorphosis.
The Gamma Rays rapidly mutated the Super Soldier Serum in his body. Ordinary cells died off, replaced by high-energy, supercharged cells.
Dying on one side, being reborn on the other—what evolution might take thousands of years, Steve was forced to endure in just half an hour.
Changing blood, bones, skin—every inch of his body was pushed beyond limits.
Even his golden, sun-like spirit was tested. The agony pierced his very bone marrow.
No one could explain how he endured it. Every time he wanted to give up, he thought of Bucky, of their shared memories, of Bucky's care.
Bucky was waiting. Steve needed strength to protect him, just as Bucky had once protected Steve.
With sheer willpower, he suppressed the urge to flee.
But physical pain was only the beginning. The real trial was yet to come.
When the body's transformation ended, the Gamma Rays invaded his brain—the most fragile and sensitive organ.
Steve, already near collapse, was like a tiny boat in a raging storm.
He screamed in agony, then finally lost consciousness, blissfully fainting.
