Luffy wanted to see the injured Iceberg and also needed his help with the ship, but now the people in this city were claiming Robin attacked him.
Because of that, Luffy had to clarify things with Iceberg first.
With the situation so chaotic, having Sandy and the others stay with him would only make things worse. Letting them leave first was the smartest choice.
After all, the Straw Hat Crew waiting on the Going Merry didn't know what was happening.
If they suddenly got chased and captured, things would turn terrible. If they resisted, that would be even worse.
So Luffy decided: Sandy and Nami should return to the ship and stabilize things, while he would go confront Iceberg himself…
Meanwhile at Dock 1, Luffy was suffering. He was only defending, while the shipwrights attacked relentlessly.
The battered Luffy dodged their blows while desperately trying to think of a plan.
And off to the side, Franky mimicked Sandy by setting up a table and casually drinking tea.
"Oh, oh. The weather's so clear today. Drinking tea really lifts my mood."
He took a sip and sighed contentedly.
"Yeah, as expected of the Carrera Company employees. Those kinds of scoundrels deserve to get blasted away. But hey, didn't I already say he's my prey?"
Franky stood up, suddenly exploded with fury, flipped the table, and roared:
"How many times do I have to tell you idiots, Carrera Company!?"
Kaku turned around and replied, "Put your business aside for now. We'll settle the damages to the shipyard later."
Franky didn't bother listening. He rambled to himself:
"You punks… stealing my prey? Forget it. Talking to you is useless. Weapon Connection!"
Enraged, Franky connected his left and right hands with a T-shaped pipe.
"Coup de Vent!"
A massive blast of air shot toward the shipwrights. The entire area erupted into chaos, and Luffy used that instant of wind pressure to slip away and search for Iceberg.
Back at the Merry
As soon as Sandy and Nami landed on the ship, Sanji erupted into flames.
"Damn you, Sandy! Get your filthy hands off Miss Nami's waist!!! Who allowed you to hold her like that!?"
Chopper looked around and asked, "Where's Luffy? Why didn't he come back with you?"
Sandy replied, "Things got complicated. We've become the suspects who attacked Iceberg."
Zoro frowned. "What happened exactly?"
Nami slapped her forehead. "I don't really know either, but the shipwrights said Uncle Iceberg was attacked by Robin."
Sanji asked in disbelief, "No way. Robin must've been threatened by some organization! She would never hurt Iceberg!"
"Yeah," Chopper agreed. "Robin wouldn't do that. Sanji, Robin said she didn't want to drag us into the darkness, right? That's why she said goodbye."
Sandy blinked. "Wait… you guys saw Robin?"
"Yeah," Sanji replied. "She found us while Chopper and I were shopping. She said goodbye and left. Looks like we really have to do what you said last night."
Sandy shrugged. "Didn't I say so? Unless Robin sees certain things, she won't come back. So let's just wait for her to leave this city with those people, then go straight to wherever they are and turn that place upside down."

The cabin door opened. Usopp stepped out.
"I'm going too!"
"Usopp!" Chopper panicked. "You can't move around yet! Get back to bed!"
Sandy said, "Stop chatting. Let's just wait for Luffy to return. Or we can nap for a while, then go cause a ruckus…"
Zoro reminded, "Hey. The broadcast said a storm's coming tonight. Is it fine to leave the ship here?"
Nami groaned. "If we hide, how's Luffy supposed to find us?"
Sandy ran a hand through his hair proudly.
"Relax. My Observation Haki isn't just for show. You guys keep talking—I still have something important to deal with."
He sat down at his usual sleeping spot and showed a dramatic thinking face.
Usopp stepped forward. "Sandy, what's the important thing? Tell us and we'll think together!"
"Yeah!" Chopper added.
Nami's eyebrow twitched.
As expected, Sandy said, "I haven't thought of my entrance line yet…"
Thud.
Nami face-palmed.
"You idiot! You're thinking about THAT at a time like this!? We're wanted by the whole city!!"
Sandy replied, dead serious, "So what if we're wanted? We'll hide after Luffy gets back. But before that, I'm going for a swim."
SPLASH.
Before anyone could react, Sandy had already jumped into the sea.
Everyone stared speechlessly.
But Sandy wasn't playing around.
Using his Space Devil Fruit, he felt his understanding of space expanding.
He sensed the currents, the carefree fish rising and sinking freely through the water. Gravity didn't bind them the way it did people on land.
What if a person could move like a fish?
BOOM.
Suddenly, Sandy shot up from the sea and began walking in the air.
Using tiny Space Barriers and the principles he learned from Luffy, Sandy could now ignore gravity.
Luffy's Rubber Fruit turned his whole body to rubber—more like a Logia than a Paramecia. Paramecia users manipulate abilities but keep normal bodies.
But Sandy had the Space Fruit.
And he could let his body resonate with the space around him.
He couldn't turn into space…
But he could move as if he belonged to it.
And so—
Sandy walked in the air like a fish swims through the sea.
His dream of flying… had come true.
The Straw Hat Crew stared up at him, dumbfounded.
"What is that guy Sandy doing up there!?"
"Is he just putting tiny Space Barriers under his feet again?"
"He wasn't THAT natural before!!"
Sandy just kept walking across the sky like it was solid ground.
