The back garden stood in quiet contrast to the front lobby, where the guards were already preparing to receive Rafael's guests.
I walked firmly to the edge of the pool and turned to Rodrique, who stood a few steps behind me, straight and silent.
His gaze stayed lowered, fixed somewhere near my shoes.
"Let's tell him," I said, my voice steady.
His head snapped up, disbelief flashing across his face, clearly not expecting those words.
"Ma'am…"
I stepped closer. "But only the part about his father being innocent. Just that."
Rodrique's frown deepened, his lips parting slightly. "That's… Ma'am…"
"With that, we will make someone else the culprit." My breath came out uneven, my heartbeat pounding hard against my ribs, but I forced my voice to stay steady.
