Rafael's POV
The sharp beep of the desk alarm dragged me out of sleep. I groaned as my hand reached to shut it off. Five in the morning.
It was that day.
The day my late father and mother would finally be proud of me for bringing Dimitri Island down.
After the fall and suffering of the Housley, this would complete the revenge. A perfect redemption to cleanse the Kingstone name.
My hand searched the empty side of the bed, looking for the warmth of my amulet.
Instead, it only found cold silk sheets.
Where is she?
I opened my eyes and glanced around the room, wondering if she was in the bathroom, but no sound came for several minutes.
Does she sleep with the kids?
I sat up at the edge of the bed and grabbed my phone from the bedside table to call Rodrique.
One ring. Two. Three.
He never made me wait until the fourth. But now he did.
The call was finally answered on the fifth ring.
"Rodrique—"
"You really trained a good doberman. I'm impressed. He can't be tamed."
