The first question directed at Kyo was:
"Why did you decide to hide your identity for so long?"
The question came from an older woman with an elegant appearance. She was a reporter from Tokyo Star Press, the same company that had revealed Kyo's identity.
However, since it had been an employee acting without permission, the company itself hadn't been banned from attending the interview. After all, it was one of the biggest celebrity magazines in Japan.
Kyo listened to the woman's question, and his lips curved into a smile.
Even though he felt extremely nervous, he answered.
Countless cameras were pointed at him. The interview was being broadcast both on television and online.
However, the TV channel airing it was relatively small, so most of the audience came from the internet. People all across Japan were watching the interview live. Japanese speakers living in other countries were watching too.
On top of that, a page focused on foreign audiences had volunteered to translate the entire interview for fans of Overlord and Aoi Haruki's other works.
"Well, isn't it obvious? I'm very young, so I decided to hide my identity. I wasn't worried about myself, but about my parents. I was afraid people would criticize them. In fact, there are already people criticizing them online."
"May I ask why?" the woman questioned.
"Like I said, I'm very young. People are treating my parents as if they were irresponsible for allowing me to write something like Overlord at such a young age. There are very violent scenes in Overlord, including torture scenes."
Kyo smiled.
"To be honest, my parents didn't really like the idea when I first started writing Overlord and publishing chapters online. Besides the violent content, they also didn't think it was safe for me to be so active on the internet."
"And honestly, they were right. It's just that I'm a little stubborn… maybe too stubborn. Hahaha."
People in the room laughed.
"So please, don't criticize my parents. I started writing without their permission and begged them to let me continue. Ever since I was very young, I read a lot of things without their permission… I learned many things and decided to write something. In the end, I turned out to have talent for it."
"I understand, thank you," the woman nodded, satisfied, before sitting down.
Then the next question came.
"My name is Mo Chen, from Nippon Celebrity Wire. Author, what was your reaction when you discovered your identity had been leaked? Are you feeling a lot of pressure? Were you angry at that journalist?"
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Mo Chen," Kyo said with a friendly smile toward the reporter. Everyone present was surprised by how approachable Kyo was acting.
"As for my reaction... I felt a chill because I wasn't exactly prepared for it. I wanted to keep it hidden and focus on my acting career." Kyo laughed softly before continuing.
"But in the end, I couldn't hide it. I guess I should've been a little more careful. And about feeling pressured… well, I don't think so. I actually feel fine. I was just extremely surprised when I saw all those people outside my school."
Many of the journalists present had been there outside Kyo's school.
Several of them looked a little embarrassed.
"Now, regarding the journalist…" Kyo sighed, and the atmosphere in the room changed.
Kyo looked seriously into one of the cameras and spoke.
"That woman had been stalking me for some time, and the company was aware of it. I met her a few days before my identity was leaked. She approached me while I was walking down the street and handed me a piece of paper with an email I had received from a company printed on it. I think that was the moment her suspicions about me grew stronger. I couldn't hide my surprise when I saw that paper."
Kyo paused briefly before continuing.
"Before anyone blames the company for failing to prevent this from happening, I'm certain they did everything they could. That woman is intelligent… well, maybe not that intelligent since she ruined her own life."
Kyo looked toward Rikuya and received permission to continue.
"Amuse Inc will be filing a lawsuit against her, and she will pay for what she did." Kyo smiled before softening his tone again.
"That's basically it. Even though I was a little nervous, I'm not truly angry that my identity was revealed. I think this might even allow me to become closer to my fans."
"Thank you very much," the man said before sitting down, satisfied with Kyo's answers.
Right after that, a woman stood up.
She wore her hair in a ponytail and had thick glasses. Although her face was fairly average, she had a very attractive figure. Since she wore a tight-fitting women's suit and a pencil skirt, her curves were very noticeable.
"My name is Akane Tsukiko, from Neo Tokyo Media Press."
"It's a pleasure to meet you."
Akane smiled at him before asking her question.
"First, I'd like to apologize."
"Hmm?"
"It's because I was one of the journalists outside your school… since I'm actually a huge fan of yours."
"Hahaha." Kyo laughed, and the other journalists laughed as well.
Even Rina, sitting beside him, laughed.
"Don't worry, I recognize a lot of faces here."
Akane smiled, then cleared her throat before finally asking her real question.
"When you arrived at your school, a girl with wavy black hair and glasses helped you. And when you left school, you were accompanied by that same girl. A few days ago, you hinted on Twitter that you were in love. Could that girl be the person you're in love with? Is she your girlfriend?"
Kyo heard the question, and his mouth slowly opened.
He remained there, staring at the journalist with his mouth slightly open.
'What do I say?'
For a moment, he was completely speechless.
