The Heavenly Poison King's aura surged in a strange, unnatural manner. The moment the green flames erupted, the poisonous mists blanketing the swamp seemed to find an outlet for release, rushing toward him of their own accord. Like fuel feeding a raging blaze, the mists were devoured, causing the flames around him to burn fiercer and his presence to swell rapidly.
In an instant, even the two Poison Dou Zongs beside him—Xie Long and Wang Ai—backed away in alarm. The poisonous fire engulfing the Heavenly Poison King radiated such corrosive intensity that even fellow Poison Dou Zongs dared not come close.
Fa Ma's expression shifted slightly as he muttered, "The power of a Heavenly Flame?" But he quickly shook his head, denying his own thought. "No… a Heavenly Flame could obliterate heaven and earth. This poison flame is powerful, yes, but not to that degree. What exactly is this?"
"Old man Fa, stop overthinking! Let's kill him first—then you can study that fire to your heart's content. We don't have time for your theories right now."
Hai Bodong's cold voice cut through his musings. His palm lifted, and frigid white energy surged, condensing into a long spear of ice that radiated biting cold.
Jia Xingtian's posture lowered, his sharp eyes filled with caution. Even a lion used its full strength to hunt a rabbit—if the Heavenly Poison King still had the confidence to fight back against four Dou Zongs, he clearly had a trump card.
"Sect Master Yun, Association Head Fa Ma, Hai Bodong—let's strike together. Don't give him the chance to grow any stronger!" Jia Xingtian called.
"Agreed!" the three responded at once. They knew well the danger of giving their enemy time. Here, where the Heavenly Poison King had the advantage of terrain, the sooner the fight ended, the better.
Four mighty auras exploded at once—one blazing, one icy, one steady, and one razor-sharp. Together, they converged upon the Heavenly Poison King in a deadly crossfire.
The Heavenly Poison King's eyes flickered with apprehension. Though he was confident, facing four Dou Zongs at once was beyond him. Fortunately, he still had two subordinates left to use.
"Xie Long, Wang Ai—each of you hold one of them off. Once I deal with my opponents, I'll come to your aid."
The two exchanged a glance. There was no other path forward now—only by standing with the Heavenly Poison King could they hope for survival.
"Understood!" they replied through clenched teeth. As the killing intent of Poison Dou Zongs took over their minds, their fear gradually gave way to ferocity.
The Heavenly Poison King's body shone with eerie green light, his form wreathed in ghostly fire like a demon crawling out of the Nine Nether Hells. His aura continued to rise sharply. This forbidden technique was what had allowed him to advance to a 5-Star Dou Zong, but it came at a cost—too long a duration, and the venom would invade his mind, leaving him beyond recovery.
Xie Long and Wang Ai lunged out simultaneously, clashing with Fa Ma and Hai Bodong. Their poisonous Dou Qi was fierce and unpredictable, evening the fight despite their lower cultivation. The two had at least chosen wisely—leaving the 3-Star Dou Zong Jia Xingtian and the 6-Star Dou Zong Yun Yun to face the Heavenly Poison King directly.
If he triumphed, they would share the credit; if he fell, they would have a chance to flee.
The Heavenly Poison King no longer cared for their schemes. Yun Yun's sword was already in motion—gusts of blade-like wind howled across the swamp, carrying a killing chill that made one's blood run cold.
"I am not the same as before!"
He thrust out his right hand. The green flames around him spun violently, forming a whirling inferno that erupted forward as a towering tornado of fire.
Chi! Chi!
Wind blades tore through the flames—but the next instant, the green fire clung to them like rot to bone, corroding the blades one by one until nothing remained but smoke. The poison's intensity was terrifying, capable even of devouring wind itself.
When the final wind blade disintegrated, the Heavenly Poison King withdrew his flames just as Jia Xingtian's Dou Qi condensed into a dragon claw, surging toward him from barely ten meters away.
"Jia Xingtian, a mere 3-Star Dou Zong dares to posture before me? Taste my Nether Ghost Claw!"
The Heavenly Poison King's grin twisted cruelly. He thrust his hand forward, five fingers curving into claws as green fire gathered upon them, forming a massive spectral talon that shot forth with blinding speed.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
In a blink, the two attacks collided—dragon claw and ghost claw meeting head-on. Fire and water burst together, detonating with deafening force. Ripples of power tore through the air as green mists spread like venomous waves.
The poisonous smoke consumed everything in its path, even crawling along the remnants of Jia Xingtian's Dou Qi toward him. His face paled, and he instantly severed his energy link to the dragon claw, cutting off the corrosion—yet before he could breathe, a green shadow burst through the smoke, hurtling toward him.
Jia Xingtian's eyes widened as he saw the Heavenly Poison King's twisted grin drawing near. "Jie jie, I've got you now!"
The overwhelming difference in strength left Jia Xingtian cold all over—but rage flared in his chest. 'When did I, Jia Xingtian, ever allow myself to be looked down upon like this?'
Fueled by fury, his Dou Qi erupted. His robes billowed as he unleashed a palm strike filled with roaring power.
The Heavenly Poison King's eyes gleamed with madness. 'I'll cripple Jia Xingtian first—then face Yun Yun to the death!'
Clang!
Pfft!
Blood spurted from the Heavenly Poison King's lips. His expression twisted in fury as he glared at the elegant woman before him—Yun Yun, her blue robes fluttering, sword pressing against his chest. Her strike had pinned him still long enough for Jia Xingtian's palm to land solidly.
Yun Yun's expression didn't change in the slightest. Her skirt fluttered in the storm of Dou Qi as her voice rang calm and cold. "Elder Jia, fall back. Circle around and guard the perimeter."
"Haa… thank you, Sect Master Yun!" Jia Xingtian exhaled in relief, his face pale but grateful. The thought of what might have happened if Yun Yun hadn't intervened sent a chill down his spine. He retreated to the side, laughing self-deprecatingly. "I really am getting old… even as a Dou Zong, I can't match the younger generation anymore. Yun Shan, you truly raised a fine disciple."
Yun Yun's sharp gaze fixed upon the Heavenly Poison King's disfigured face, her eyes filled with disgust. "Your opponent is me."
The Heavenly Poison King's flame-wreathed hand seized her sword, his eyes glinting with greed as he leered at her cold beauty. "Hehe, Sect Master Yun, you're the strongest of the Jia Ma Empire, and I'm the strongest of Chu Yun Empire. Why not join me? Together, we could sweep across the continent!"
The revulsion on Yun Yun's face deepened. "Delusional!"
Whoosh! Whoosh!
Through her blade, sword-qi exploded outward in violent bursts. The Heavenly Poison King caught it full-on—his palm shredded and bleeding profusely.
Hissing in pain, he released her sword and leapt back, glaring at his mangled hand. Rage twisted his features into something monstrous. "You wretched woman! Since you won't appreciate mercy, I'll break you first and then feed you a few bags of aphrodisiac—let's see how cold you act then!"
And all of this… was heard loud and clear by a handsome young man stepping out of a spatial rift high above the swamp.
His fists clenched.
They were hard.
