Atop the Medicine Mountain of the Yao Clan!
This was the most magnificent place within the Yao Clan.
On ordinary days, rare medicinal herbs blanketed the mountainside. The thick fragrance of the herbs was so rich it seemed to have turned tangible, as if one were surrounded by an ocean of medicine the moment they breathed in the scent.
At the summit floated a vast suspended square—the place where the Medicinal Ceremony was held. But now, it had become a brutal battlefield.
The heavens were shrouded in darkness, without the faintest trace of light. Black flames engulfed the entire sky, and above the firmament, four colossal abysses had torn open, spewing endless waves of Death Qi.
Within that endless darkness, only three radiant sources of light resisted the tide. Beneath their protection, one could barely fend off the encroachment of death.
A thousand-zhang-tall remnant soul of Emperor Yao hovered serenely, its face calm and compassionate. Within the surrounding seas of lightning and fire, Lei Ying and Yan Jin radiated terrifying auras, their energy waves shaking both heaven and earth.
The Void Devouring Flame once again clashed against Emperor Yao's remnant soul. The terrifying black flames collided with the soul fire ignited from Emperor Yao's burning remnant, and each impact swept across the space, purging even the deadly Death Qi that sought to devour everything.
Out from the surging Death Qi, countless chilling auras emerged. The figures that stepped forth were skeletal and corpse-like, faces pale and lifeless, shrouded in a dense stench of death. Yet the power radiating from their bodies was shockingly strong. Empowered by the Death Qi, their strength surged higher and higher.
Silent and expressionless, these resurrected powerhouses of the Hun Clan began slaughtering the people of the Yao Clan, Lei Clan, Yan Clan, and all the gathered guests.
Shouts, explosions, and the clash of Dou Qi echoed across Medicine Mountain. It had become the cruelest battlefield—life held no value here. Even the strongest could fall like ants, and flowers of blood bloomed everywhere.
Even Lei Ying and Yan Jin were trapped, unable to break free. Four Late 8-Star Dou Saints had surrounded them, their strength in no way inferior to the two clan heads.
Both Lei Ying and Yan Jin wore expressions of rage and disbelief.
"Hun Yuantian, Hun Tiansheng, Hun Yao, Hun Feng—you four old ghosts are still alive?!"
A hoarse laugh answered from the darkness. "We've long been dead—slain by Xiao Xuan. But we were unwilling! We could not rest without seeing the Hun Clan unify the continent. So we crawled back from the abyss! Today, we'll send you to accompany the Xiao Clan!"
As the voice fell, the Death Qi rolled violently, transforming into a boundless serpent of blood and malice that spread through the sky.
The Lei, Yan, and Yao Clans had truly underestimated the Hun Clan. The number of strong enemies that emerged far surpassed even the combined might of the three clans. Countless powerhouses once thought to have perished had now returned from death itself.
Even with all their preparations, the three clans found themselves at an unprecedented disadvantage—suppressed in both high-tier and mid-tier combat strength.
But none of this had anything to do with Liu Xi. The Death Qi did somewhat hinder the release of Spiritual Power, yet for a soul of the Emperor Realm, such resistance was like a thin veil—easily torn apart.
Following the thread of a soul imprint, Liu Xi traversed the battlefield, veiling himself entirely with a touch of Nightmare Heavenly Fog Technique, vanishing from perception.
Leaping down from the floating square, he glided silently down Medicine Mountain, slipping past the chaos of battle until he reached the mountain's base—where he finally found the figure of Hun Huzi.
What he saw made his expression turn strange. To put it simply—Hun Huzi was beating Xiao Yan.
Within Liu Xi's vision, Hun Huzi sent Xiao Yan flying with a single palm strike. Xiao Yan spat blood as his body crashed backward, covered in wounds and drenched in crimson. Though gravely injured, he was not fatally so.
He skidded across the ground for nearly a hundred zhang before coming to a stop, carving a deep trench into the soil. Even with his bloodied face, the hatred and venom burning in his eyes could not be hidden.
Hun Huzi sneered and flashed forward, appearing before Xiao Yan in an instant. Though he could have easily crushed him to death, he instead toyed with him like a cat playing with a mouse.
With a single step, he stomped down on Xiao Yan's chest, causing another mouthful of blood to spurt out. Trembling, Xiao Yan reached up, trying to push the foot away, but he could not move it an inch.
Leaning over him, Hun Huzi mocked coldly, "So that's why this bloodline felt so familiar… Turns out it's you—the remnant spawn of the Xiao Clan. I didn't expect such a useless bloodline to produce someone like you. You're nearly at Half Saint now, aren't you?"
Xiao Yan glared up with bloodshot eyes, his mouth full of blood as he rasped hoarsely, "Old dog… If you want to kill me, then do it. I, Xiao Yan, and your Hun Clan are irreconcilable enemies."
Hun Huzi chuckled. "Still so defiant! Back then, Xiao Xuan caused my Hun Clan so much trouble. To think that his descendant would beg a Hun for mercy… just imagining it excites me."
With a sinister smile, he drew a black pouch from his sleeve. It radiated dense Yin energy. Opening it, a wisp of azure smoke floated out and coalesced into a faintly visible soul figure.
Xiao Yan's eyes widened, the murderous intent within them intensifying. His voice trembled as he shouted, "Teacher!"
That soul's face—was precisely Yao Chen's.
With a sharp crack, a soul chain shot out and pierced Yao Chen's spirit, binding him tightly. His once-calm eyes filled with agony.
Watching this, Hun Huzi smirked. "So Yao Chen was rescued from the Hall of Souls after all. But what of it? I can always take him back. What's even better—he's broken through to a Heaven Realm Soul. A single soul like that is worth a hundred thousand ordinary ones."
"Beg me, boy. If you plead with me to spare him, perhaps I'll consider it."
Xiao Yan gritted his teeth, glaring silently. He knew Hun Huzi would never let Yao Chen go. A Heaven Realm Soul was far too precious. To beg now would only disgrace himself.
Seeing Xiao Yan's stubborn silence, Hun Huzi's expression twisted with impatience. He exerted more force—the chain tightened—and Yao Chen's soul cried out in pain.
Xiao Yan shut his eyes, refusing to look or listen. He had come with Yao Chen seeking protection and resources to break through to Half Saint, and eventually to Dou Saint. But all he had received were cold stares and rejection.
And now, before his eyes, the Hun Clan's invasion had begun. They had tried to flee, wanting no part in the Yao Clan's destruction, but fate brought them face to face with Hun Huzi. Yao Chen's puppet body had been destroyed, and his soul nearly shattered again. Though gathered once more, his recovery would take time.
Hun Huzi sighed in mock pity, then suddenly sneered, his voice piercing directly into Yao Chen's spirit. "You don't care about Yao Chen? Then what about your father?"
"What!"
Xiao Yan's eyes snapped open, veins bulging, fury burning like wildfire. His hatred became tangible, twisting his expression.
Hun Huzi laughed wildly. "There we go. Beg me, and I'll tell you your father's condition. Maybe, just maybe, I'll even let him go—after all, you no longer possess what we seek."
Xiao Yan's heart wrenched painfully. Of all the people in this world, only Xiao Zhan and Yao Chen held his true affection.
He truly wanted to know his father's fate. Torn by agony, after a long silence, his hoarse voice finally escaped his lips. "I beg you… tell me…"
