"Elder Zhu Bei, remain seated and watch how we defeat the Void Devouring Flame. Even a 9-Star expert is not beyond our reach!"
Yao Dan smiled as he stepped into the air, sleeves billowing as a majestic aura erupted around him. His voice thundered across the mountains.
"Members of the Yao Clan, the time to defend our home has come! All clansmen, heed my order—form the Heaven Transforming Yao Formation!"
"Yes!" Countless elders rose into the sky while squads of elite armored warriors assembled rapidly. The once serene peak of Medicine Mountain became filled with a chilling, murderous aura as waves of killing intent surged toward the heavens.
After a year of blood and battle, even the alchemists of the Yao Clan had long since transformed into hardened warriors. Every clan member had already prepared for this moment—those too weak withdrew, while the strong advanced and aligned in formation, intensifying the oppressive energy further.
Their Dou Qi connected with the earth veins, activating the grand array buried deep beneath the mountain. Dense natural energy was drawn violently from heaven and earth, and across the mountainside, countless rare medicinal herbs withered and turned yellow under the strain.
Brilliant light patterns intertwined across the land, forming an immense, complex formation that covered the entire mountain range. Within it, an unseen divine consciousness seemed to awaken—gazing upon all beings below, inescapable, omnipresent, terrifying beyond reason.
"The Yao Clan's protective formation, pushed to its limit, can even summon the remnant soul of Emperor Yao…" Liu Xi murmured softly. His spiritual perception sensed a towering presence stirring within the formation—an ancient will that was neither alive nor dead. It was indeed a fragment of a Dou Di's soul.
As expected, Yao Dan bowed deeply toward the formation, his face trembling with fervent reverence.
"Please bless us, Ancestor!"
Boom!
The formation roared to life. Countless runes ignited with dazzling brilliance, their light converging like swarming fireflies. Gradually, a colossal figure a thousand meters tall began to materialize—its silhouette growing ever clearer until a robed man stood revealed, his plain face radiating a strange tranquility that calmed all hearts at a glance.
"The Yao Clan…"
A gentle voice reverberated through heaven and earth, shaking every soul.
"…has fallen so far."
At those words, every Yao clansman, including Yao Dan, flushed with shame, wishing they could sink into the ground. It was the disappointment of their ancestor himself.
The Void Devouring Flame regarded Emperor Yao's remnant soul calmly, unmoved even before the aura of a Dou Di.
"Emperor Yao's remnant soul… stronger than the Ling or Shi Clans' once were, but tell me—how much of your peak strength remains now?"
"Void Devouring Flame…"
Emperor Yao's tranquil gaze turned toward the black flame, faintly solemn. Ranked second on the Heavenly Flame List, and now possessing 9-Star Dou Saint strength—its power could not be measured by ordinary standards.
"Junior Lei Ying greets Emperor Yao."
"Junior Yan Jin greets Emperor Yao."
Both bowed respectfully. Though he was not their direct ancestor, a Dou Di deserved the reverence of all.
Yao Dan spoke solemnly. "The Hun Clan has grown cruel beyond measure, and the Void Devouring Flame aids their tyranny. The Ling and Shi Clans have already perished, their bloodlines devoured like livestock. We were powerless to resist, and so we called upon the Yan and Lei Clans for aid. Please forgive us, Ancestor."
A faint sigh echoed within the heavens. Then came the calm, resounding word:
"Granted."
Relief washed over Yao Dan's face, tension melting from his shoulders. He quickly gestured to the two clan leaders beside him and bowed deeply.
"Thank you for your blessing, Ancestor!"
Lei Ying laughed heartily. "Members of the Lei Clan! Form the Ten Thousand Lightning Prison Formation—aid Emperor Yao in subduing the Void Devouring Flame!"
Yan Jin shouted as well. "Members of the Yan Clan! Form the Flame Abyss Demon-Sealing Formation—assist Emperor Yao in binding the Void Devouring Flame!"
"Hah! You wish!"
The Void Devouring Flame's voice boomed coldly. It might be a Heavenly Flame, but it was far from foolish. If it allowed these arrays to fully form, the battle would become far harder to win.
Its robe of fire rippled as the surrounding dark flames surged forward, gathering before it. The sea of black fire twisted violently, merging into a gigantic black python tens of thousands of meters long.
The serpent roared toward the heavens, and space itself began to melt away like an erased painting, vanishing without a sound. As it moved, a single black streak cut across the void, and all it touched dissolved into nothing—leaving behind no ripple, no echo, only an eerie silence that made every onlooker's blood run cold.
Apart from the few clan leaders, Zhu Bei, and Liu Xi—none could remain composed. Even seasoned Dou Saints felt their hearts freeze. For the first time, they witnessed the terror of a 9-Star Dou Saint.
Boom!
The destructive wave that followed tore through the skies. The black flames devoured the heavens while howling winds ripped across the Medicine Mountain's summit for tens of miles in every direction. It was like the end of the world—sky collapsing, earth shattering, and rare herbs obliterated to dust. Many trembled, faces drained of color.
That cataclysmic strike was stopped only by Emperor Yao. A colossal cauldron stood before him, trembling as it absorbed the impact—the same cauldron that had blocked the Void Devouring Flame's devastating blow.
"Let's see how many strikes you can still block."
The Void Devouring Flame's voice was laced with disdain. It raised its arms, commanding the boundless flames once more. Dozens of black serpents formed, their massive bodies writhing chaotically in the air, filling the heavens with despair.
The sky quaked under their might. Emperor Yao looked tiny before them, yet his form grew brighter as the Heaven Transforming Yao Formation poured power into him. Radiance flooded his spectral body, solidifying the fading remnant soul.
"You were once a divine being of heaven and earth. But now, so violent and corrupted—you cannot be allowed to exist. Even if it costs me this remnant life, I shall seal you away!"
Emperor Yao struck the cauldron. From within, flames surged skyward—ethereal and translucent, unlike any Heavenly Flame. It was the fire of the soul itself, born from his own essence.
The divine fire spread across the heavens, forming a hazy curtain of light that blocked the black serpents' descent. Though the barrier seemed thin, on the verge of shattering, it remained unbroken, stabilizing the entire space.
"Emperor Yao, allow us to assist!" Lei Ying and Yan Jin shouted in unison.
The Thunder Prison Formation bloomed like a storm, filling the sky with a vast black sea of lightning far stronger than any seen before. At the same time, the Flame Abyss Demon-Sealing Formation erupted like a volcano, waves of molten fire covering the heavens and burning all evil beneath its glow.
The Void Devouring Flame hesitated. To face three 9-Star powers simultaneously, even its arrogance faltered. Not even the second-ranked Heavenly Flame could bear such odds.
"Is the Death World Formation ready?"
The words had barely fallen when four massive dark portals tore open in the sky. Four colossal Deathly Silence Gates descended, enveloping the heavens in a shroud of eternal darkness.
A suffocating wave of deathly aura poured forth, flooding the world like an unending tide. The entire Yao Clan territory was swallowed by its shadow.
Yao Dan, Yan Jin, and Lei Ying were stunned by the sight. This was an ancient, forbidden formation—the Death World Formation, infamous since ancient times. To forge even one Deathly Silence Gate required countless lives as sacrifice.
And yet the Hun Clan had conjured all four. It was proof—they had long planned the annihilation of the seven ancient clans.
There was no turning back now. The battle had reached the point of no return, and the bloodiest clash since the war began was about to erupt.
Amid the chaos, Liu Xi quietly seized his chance. While the heavens trembled and flames raged, he slipped away, heading toward Hun Huzi—to retrieve the pill that rightfully belonged to him.
