Chapter 614 - Chapter 614: Seizing the Flame

"Lord Void!"

The state of the Void Devouring Flame shocked all the members of the Hun Clan. Countless gazes turned toward it in alarm.

At that moment, the Void Devouring Flame was clutching its head, enduring unbearable soul pain. Emperor Yao's final self-sacrificial attack had wounded its very soul, causing its strength to fall sharply.

Fortunately, it was the Void Devouring Flame. Had it been an ordinary 9-Star Dou Saint, its entire soul would have been burned to ash by Emperor Yao's soul fire, leaving nothing but an empty husk of a body.

Seeing the looks directed its way, the Void Devouring Flame bellowed harshly, "What are you staring at! Keep killing! Emperor Yao is dead—today, annihilate the Lei, Yan, and Yao Clans!"

"Yes!"

With Emperor Yao's remnant soul vanishing from the heavens, the morale of the Hun Clan surged skyward. In contrast, the alliance of the three clans fell into despair—especially the Yao Clan, whose spirits collapsed completely.

Every member of the Yao Clan could feel something fading from their bloodline—a connection severed forever. They stood in disbelief, unable to accept that Emperor Yao's remnant had truly perished.

For the Yao Clan, Emperor Yao was their origin. Now that even his remnant soul was gone, the exhaustion of their bloodline power had become irreversible.

Yao Dan's eyes were empty. His entire plan—to use the Medicinal Ceremony as bait to lure the Hun Clan into a trap and annihilate them here—had crumbled.

He had never imagined the Hun Clan would come with such overwhelming force: the 9-Star Dou Saint Void Devouring Flame, four resurrected 8-Star Dou Saints thought long dead—powerhouses even older than the Hun Tiandi himself—and the terrifying Death World Formation that blanketed everything.

Compared to that, even the joint preparations of the three clans were woefully insufficient. And now, with Emperor Yao's remnant gone, the Yao Clan's final pillar of hope had vanished.

The endless Death Qi concealed all. Yao Dan could no longer even sense how many of his clan's experts still lived. If he failed to find a way to turn this around soon, the Yao Clan would truly be erased from the continent.

But the Hun Clan gave him no chance to think. One 7-Star Dou Saint and two 6-Star Dou Saints of the Hun Clan joined forces to besiege Yao Dan—already a grim display of respect for his status.

The two 6-Star Dou Saints were manageable, but the 7-Star Dou Saint was a hidden trump card—one who had never appeared before. Even without the Four Demon Saints, the Hun Clan still had terrifying reserves to draw upon.

Their depth was unfathomable.

In the sky, of the three great sources of light, one had already vanished. Only the billion-fold Ten Thousand Lightning Prison Formation and the Flame Abyss Demon-Sealing Formation still illuminated the heavens through the dense Death Qi, sustaining the remaining warriors' will to fight.

Lightning roared, fire raged.

Lei Ying and Yan Jin, empowered by their formations, battled the resurrected souls—Hun Yuantian, Hun Tiansheng, Hun Yao, and Hun Feng—four Late 8-Star Dou Saints. With the aid of their arrays, they barely held the line.

The formations shielded them and their forces from the corrosive Death Qi, but as the Hun Clan continued their slaughter, the Lei and Yan Clans' fighters fell one after another. The protective strength of the arrays weakened with every death.

Now that Emperor Yao was gone, the Void Devouring Flame had also regained its freedom. Fear began to creep into Lei Ying and Yan Jin's hearts. Even if they wished to retreat, they were trapped inside the Death World Formation, with the Void Devouring Flame watching from above.

To defeat such an enemy was impossible—to escape was no less than a miracle.

At that moment, Liu Xi, hidden deep within the Death Qi, sensed the Void Devouring Flame's injury. His heart stirred—but he did not act. Not yet.

The Hun Clan's power remained intact, and the extent of the Void Devouring Flame's injuries was uncertain. Even if Liu Xi managed to strike it down, escaping the encirclement with it would be nearly impossible.

"Wait a little longer…"

He raised his hand and grasped a wisp of Death Qi. The frigid aura gnawed at his palm, but with a faint flicker of azure flame, it was instantly purified.

All around, the Death Qi was endless. Emperor Yao was gone; if Lei Ying and Yan Jin didn't reveal their true trump cards soon, they too would be consumed.

Then, Liu Xi's eyes suddenly widened, a faint smile curving his lips. His Spiritual Sense flared—and his body vanished.

He tore through layers of Death Qi, and his Spiritual Perception revealed a scene clearly before him.

Elder Wanhuo of the Yao Clan was still fighting, wielding the Nine Serene Wind Flame against two equally matched Hun Clan 6-Star Dou Saints. That he had lasted this long was a miracle.

But after Emperor Yao's death, Wanhuo had weakened drastically. His opponents seized the moment—pressing harder. In a desperate outburst, he severely injured one of them, only to be struck down by the other. Both were left gravely wounded, and one perished alongside him.

That was the scene Liu Xi arrived to.

One Hun Clan Dou Saint was tending to his comrade's charred remains, unaware that death was already near.

Liu Xi's gaze lifted to the heavens. The Void Devouring Flame was still recovering, the Death Qi around him was thick, and the only others nearby were low-tier Dou Saints who could never sense him.

"Time to move."

"What—who's there?!"

The black-robed Dou Saint's head snapped up. He scanned the shadows, feeling a sudden chill crawl up his spine. Someone was near—yet he hadn't sensed a thing.

Puchi!

Blood sprayed. The Dou Saint looked down in disbelief to see a slender hand piercing straight through his chest, bursting out his back.

"Yellow Spring Palm."

The calm voice echoed softly. The strike had come and gone before the man even registered the danger.

Though Liu Xi was an 8-Star Dou Saint capable of crushing a 6-Star opponent outright, he preferred speed and silence. One clean strike—no witnesses.

Azure flames erupted, consuming the man's body and soul. In the blink of an eye, nothing remained but drifting ash.

Without pause, Liu Xi flashed forward into the raging Nine Serene Wind Flame, now out of control after its master's death.

Before him, the fierce black-green flames were nothing. A faint wisp of his azure fire swept out, suppressing the Nine Serene Wind Flame entirely and sealing it back into Wanhuo's body.

He lifted Wanhuo's corpse gently and disappeared once more into the sea of Death Qi.

By the time three lower-tier Hun Clan Dou Saints arrived, breaking through the gloom, the place was already empty. Only a single charred corpse remained, the fading ripples in space whispering of the battle that had taken place.

"Lord Hun Shi… is dead!" one stammered.

"What about Lord Hun Tu?"

The three looked at one another, pale with disbelief. That two 6-Star Dou Saints had been slain so swiftly was inconceivable. Even with the Hun Clan's vast might, such experts were rare.

Panicking, they retrieved the corpse and fled to report—fearing that the mission to slay Wanhuo had failed.

Meanwhile, hidden once more within the Death Qi, Liu Xi's aura vanished completely. Here, among the gloom, he moved even more freely than the Hun Clan themselves.

He drew out the Nine Serene Wind Flame, sealing it within his body with the azure fire. He would devour and refine it when the time was right.

As for Wanhuo's body—Liu Xi intended to bury him. He had taken the man's Heavenly Flame; it was only right to grant him peace in return.
