Six years had passed. Ned now had patches of white hair at both temples, and the fine lines at the corners of his eyes had deepened a bit, but his eyes were still the same as they had been six years ago.
Deep and bright — a light that had grown even more profound after being tempered by time.
"Ned, these six years since we got married have been the best six years of my life."
Ned's fingers paused at her waist. "What about the next few decades?"
"They will definitely be even better!" Sophie tilted her head, a smile spreading across her face.
Ned lowered his head and gently kissed her forehead, just as tenderly and warmly as he had in the snowy fields of Iceland.
"Mommy! Daddy! Come quick!" Emily's voice rang out urgently from the living room. "The cake is ready!"
The two of them exchanged a glance and smiled as they walked into the dining room.
