The man ran at Ameila with pure killing intent, his presence pressing down on her like a weight she couldn't escape. Her breath hitched as her body reacted before her mind could catch up, she dodged to the side, but her footing failed her again. The edge of the water betrayed her, and she slipped, falling back with a splash as the cold swallowed her whole. Panic surged instantly. Her injured hand burned as she struggled beneath the surface, her lungs screaming for air, her limbs heavy and uncoordinated.
"Not again… I can't die like this…"
Above her, a loud crack echoed through the cave. The man had missed her completely, his momentum sending him crashing straight into the statue. The impact was brutal. His body dropped to the ground, blood gushing from his head as he lay still. For a brief moment, everything went quiet.
