Ameila wrapped her arms tightly around herself as her body trembled.
Her shoulders shook with silent sobs, her breath uneven, fragile.
"You must stay alive…"
Abigail's voice echoed in her mind, over and over again.
It refused to fade, it clung to her like a command she didn't ask for but couldn't ignore.
Ameila squeezed her eyes shut, tears slipping down her cheeks.
"…You must stay alive, Abigail" she whispered back, her voice breaking.
There was no one there to hear her.
Slowly… she lifted her head. Her gaze settled on the wall behind her, the one that had sealed Abigail away.
Her chest tightened.
Then she stood up. Her legs felt weak, but she forced them to hold. Forced herself forward because standing still wouldn't save anyone.
Ameila turned and faced the dark path ahead.
Then she began to walk.
