Chapter 22 - Chapter 22:The Declaration of War!

The door to the office burst open with force as armed guards rushed in, only to freeze mid-step at the horrifying scene before them.

The president of the Hero Public Safety Commission lay lifeless on the ground, blood pooling beneath him, while Lady Nagant stood over the body in silence, her expression devoid of emotion, as if the act she had just committed meant nothing anymore.

"Deactivate your Quirk!" one of the guards shouted, raising his gun as the others followed suit, aiming directly at her.

Before anyone could pull the trigger, the floor beneath them trembled violently.

Massive stone hands erupted from the ground without warning, grabbing two of the guards and slamming them against the wall with brutal force.

The impact echoed through the room as cracks spread across the surface, and the pressure continued until both guards went limp, unconscious.

The remaining two guards barely had time to react before a glowing blue aura enveloped their bodies. They were lifted helplessly into the air, their weapons falling from their hands as they screamed in pain.

The invisible force tightened around them until their voices cut off, and moments later, they dropped to the ground, completely unconscious.

Another set of stone hands emerged, grabbing the fallen guards and embedding them into the wall alongside the others, sealing them in place as if they had become part of the structure itself.

Alarms began blaring throughout the entire building.

Nagant's eyes flickered slightly, the lifeless emptiness within them disturbed for the first time since she had pulled the trigger.

She turned her head slowly, scanning the room until her gaze landed on a figure crouched to the side.

A girl in a white suit, wearing an angelic mask, her hands still pressed against the ground.

The one responsible for the stone hands.

Nagant's attention shifted again when she noticed the president's laptop was missing.

Her eyes snapped to the opposite side of the room, where another figure stood—clad in black, wearing a demonic mask, calmly typing on the device with a pendrive connected to it.

"I got everything," his voice echoed, distorted through a modulator. Without hesitation, he pulled out the pendrive and tossed the laptop aside as if it had already served its purpose.

"Novangle, let's go," he said.

The white-suited girl straightened, her wings unfolding behind her with a metallic shimmer.

"Alright, Novabel," she replied, her tone surprisingly casual.

"You take care of her. I'll handle things outside a bit longer."

With that, she launched herself through the window, soaring into the open air.

Outside, chaos had already begun to spread.

Heroes and guards were rushing toward the building from every direction, but Melissa—now Novangle—hovered above them, her wings beating steadily as she took a deep breath.

A surge of wind burst from her outstretched hands, forming a massive whirlwind that pushed back the advancing forces. Dust, debris, and even people were forced off balance as the storm raged outward.

She twisted midair, dodging incoming bullets and projectiles with increasing ease. In her palm, a crackling sphere of red lightning formed, glowing intensely before she hurled it downward.

The explosion of electricity sent several heroes collapsing instantly, their bodies convulsing before going still.

A grin spread beneath her mask.

'This is… incredible!'

She dove downward, slamming her foot into the ground. The earth responded instantly, rising into thick walls that surrounded multiple heroes, trapping them within hardened structures like cages.

Each movement became smoother, more natural. The more she used her abilities, the more instinctive they felt.

Inside the building, Arata—now Novabel—turned toward Nagant.

"Come with me," he said simply.

Nagant didn't object much. She had already lost everything. At this point, there was nothing left to question. If the demon mask wanted to kill her, he could do it. She didn't care anymore.

They moved through the building together, guards attempting to intercept them at every turn. Gunfire echoed through the halls, but Arata raised his gauntlet slightly.

The bullets froze midair.

With a single clench of his fist, they compressed into fine metallic dust.

He waved his hand again, and the guards were slammed into walls by overwhelming spatial pressure, losing consciousness instantly.

Floor by floor, they descended, Arata clearing every obstacle with effortless dominance while Nagant followed silently behind him.

By the time they reached the ground floor and stepped outside, the battlefield had already shifted.

Dozens of heroes lay unconscious across the area.

Above them, Novangle continued her assault, surrounded by swirling winds, moving freely through the air as she pushed back wave after wave of resistance.

"Novangle, that's enough," Arata said through the communicator. He waved his gauntlet as the space energy swept through the remaining guards and heroes, knocking them uncouncious.

A small, exaggerated pout echoed back through the channel. "Aww… fine."

She descended gracefully, landing beside him.

"What now, Novabel?" she asked, her tone returning to seriousness. She already understood that the stronger heroes hadn't arrived yet. This was only the beginning.

Arata's gaze shifted toward the gathering crowd of reporters. Cameras were already rolling, broadcasting everything live.

Exactly as he had planned. He had tipped them that something big was gonna happen when he was flying with Melissa towards Tokyo.

With a small motion of his gauntlet, space warped—and in an instant, the reporters found themselves repositioned directly in front of him, a safe distance away but perfectly aligned.

Panic flickered across their faces, but Arata raised a hand calmly.

"I want to speak to Japan."

The moment those words left his mouth, every camera focused on him.

Across the entire country, live broadcasts shifted.

Every screen now showed the same image.

"People of Japan," Arata began, his voice steady and commanding, "you may know me by many names—Demon Mask, I-Island Destroyer, Space Demon, or perhaps something else entirely."

He paused briefly.

"Allow me to introduce myself properly. I am Novabel, leader of Nova Genesis."

He gestured toward Melissa beside him.

"And this is my second-in-command, Novangle."

A murmur spread among the reporters, but Arata continued without interruption.

"You're probably wondering why we chose this place… why we attacked the headquarters of the Hero Public Safety Commission."

He spread his arms slightly.

"The answer is simple."

"I want to bring revolution to this world."

Some scoffed. Others watched in silence. Arata's eyes hardened beneath the mask.

"You think I'm speaking nonsense? That I'm just another power-hungry individual chasing attention?"

He tapped his phone and activated the temporary hack quirk chip.

The broadcast split instantly.

Across every screen, classified files, hidden records, and secret operations began appearing—atrocities committed by the HPSC, exposed in full detail.

The truth flooded into public view.

"I've just shown you a fraction of what your government has been hiding," Arata continued. "Now tell me… do you still believe they represent justice?"

Silence fell.

"Villains… heroes… justice… evil," he went on, his voice rising slightly. "These labels have been rewritten over and over by those in power since the beginning of the quirk era."

"Children born with so-called 'villainous' quirks are crushed by society. Those without quirks are treated as worthless. Meanwhile, those born with 'Heroic' or 'Strong' abilities are praised and elevated without question."

His tone sharpened.

"And you let these same people decide what is right and what is wrong for you?"

He stepped forward.

"Why should corrupt individuals, hiding behind authority, be allowed to rule over you?"

He raised his arms wide.

"I refuse to accept that."

"I hereby declare this country… a neutral ground."

Shock spread instantly across every part of Japan.

"From this moment forward, we will see with our own eyes who truly represents justice… and who does not."

His voice thundered.

"And when this war ends… the victor will define what justice truly is!"

The Space Stone flared with power.

In an instant, the entire HPSC building behind him compressed under immense spatial pressure, collapsing into nothing but dust.

Gasps erupted across the broadcast.

Arata pointed directly at the camera.

"Watch me."

"I will tear out the corruption poisoning this country… and bring forth a new era."

He pulled out a compact rod from his belt and activated it. It extended into a tall pole, unfurling a black flag marked with a radiant supernova symbol.

He planted it firmly into the rubble.

"Those who have been silenced by this society… those who have lost their voice…"

His tone lowered, but carried even more weight.

"Join me."

"Raise this flag."

"Show the world that your voice matters."

He stepped back slightly.

"The revolution begins now!"

A portal opened behind him.

Melissa stood frozen for a moment, still processing everything she had just witnessed, before stepping forward. Nagant, after getting a look from Arata, followed as well, her expression conflicted but no longer empty.

Arata gave the cameras one final look. Then he turned and walked through the portal.

It closed behind him, leaving only silence, dust…and a country on the brink of upheaval.
