Kenneth felt there was something off the minute Lucien had invited him to his dorm.
The unusual aroma of mango and coriander lingered in the air, as though the room had decided to suffocate him in Lucien's scent. Despite the premonition he felt in the pit of his stomach, he came anyway.
Even as he stood at the door and felt Lucien's gaze on him, he could tell something was wrong. Off, but he couldn't put his finger on what felt off about him.
So against his better judgment, he ignored the alarm bells that rang in his head and crossed the threshold.
Kenneth didn't realize it then, but he had somehow stepped into a space that had remained untouched and unventured for some time now.
The air was heavy with a lingering stillness, almost as if silence had settled thickly over everything. It mirrored Lucien to a tee. Distant on the surface, but layered underneath. And now that he was in it, there was no way he could go back.
