There comes a time in every soldier's life when they wonder what would happen to them after they die.
Would their names be remembered after they were buried? After the dust settled and they were buried twenty feet under? Would their accomplishments be rewarded and cemented into history, or would their names die out as their body, souls, and minds had?
They say most men go into battle not thinking about doing right by their country, but for the renowned glory that usually finds them after death. Victory, after all, was self-motivated, and it was a guarantee that most people went into the military for selfish reasons.
For Kenneth, it was a way to make ends meet. He was an orphan with no other family to call his own. The only options he had were to become another cog in the system or to follow his family to the end. Because death would have awaited him either way if he chose homelessness.
