Marcus sighed in relief; he had done his part. He grilled the burgers, set up the barbecue for tomorrow, and let the females do their thing.
Now he can relax and do his tinkering!
'Finally! Peace and quiet! Just how it's supposed to be!'
The Emperor leaned into his comfortable chair, closed his eyes and enjoyed the hum of his computers in the background, the waves smashing on the beaches outside, and the fresh air that came through the open windows.
This was life! After conquering the world, one should always spend a couple of days developing more advanced forms of 18-metre-tall killer robots.
"Right, back to the drawing board." Marcus opened his eyes and looked at the holograms that appeared on the table.
"Legion, are you with me?"
[Always, what can I do for you?]
"Those two GN Drives I have, can we synchronise their output?"
[The so-called Twin Drive theory I found in the black box? You want me to try it?]
"Yes. My own initial observation is that they need to link up the frequencies of the particle dispersal; if they are not in balance, it can cause them to lose power and reset." Marcus concluded after watching the GN Drives in action.
[Understood. That is my observation as well; I checked our Frequency databanks, and we confirmed over there as well.
I suggest we put both GN reactors into a single mobile suit frame, then balance the synchronisation rate.]
'Exactly, like I have thought.'
"Then we can do that once the workshop is done. What's the progress?"
[The concrete foundations have been laid, with reinforced nano tubes. The walls and ceiling will be strong enough to take shots from a mobile suit's rifle.]
"Good, from the sounds of it, it will be a couple of days."
[With the current speed of construction, I will finish the workshop in around 36 hours.]
"Wonderful, for now we play around." Marcus smiled as he used his fingers to flick through the databases and selected his AGT- 01 Gundam Throne Tiranis and CB- 01 Gundam 1.
With casual finger motions, he broke these two machines apart.
"Let's compare the core joints and frames, which units have the best ones?" He asked his AI as he looked at two holograms of skeletons spinning above his table.
[Running diagnostics, followed by tests… here are the statistics.]
Two windows popped before him; what he got were tests with the recorded specs.
"Benchmarks… right, they aren't docked, are they?" Marcus rubbed the back of his hair.
[Not needed, Your Majesty, Anaheim Frames and Joint technology is superior to anything Celestial Being has produced to this date.]
The AI highlighted the parts.
[Our technology is based on millions of biological joints we have scanned and is based on them. While Celestial Being tried to replicate organic limbs, and succeeded to some extent, they are a far cry from what we achieved.]
"Indeed. They were not competing with us, but what nations of this world have produced, and so far, their technology was leagues ahead."
As Marcus commented, he flicked aside Gundam 1's skeletal frame and threw it into a holographic bin. He left behind his Tiranis frame and added GN particle storage areas. Something akin to 'muscles'.
Bit by bit, based on Celestial Being's data, he finished in a decent amount of time. But then he reworked the whole thing and slimmed down the muscles.
The reason is very simple, Sakuradite.
Nemesis Gundam had synthetic Sakuradite installed, and the experiment proved to them that their pink magical material is effective with GN particles.
In fact, the power transfer is far greater than anything Celestial Being has made so far.
Next, he considered installing the Fusion Reactor, but it was not needed.
While it is the most stable power source to date, it lags behind in what the GN drive can do.
In one-on-one benchmark competition, his 3rd-generation Fusion Reactor would beat GN Drive down without competition.
But Twin Drive technology? With its squared energy boost? It's a completely different ball game.
After 'muscles', Marcus checked out the cockpit. He needed to adjust as the 'muscles' were originally Gundam 1's, so he altered a bit to fit his sphere cockpit.
With that done, the only thing left was Tiranis wings.
It has been a while since he messed around with the wings system of his mobile suit; now it's the perfect time to improve the configuration.
'Since it's a pure GN machine, I should focus on verners'
Verners are the thruster equivalent of the GN system; they are placed in similar locations to where the thrusters are supposed to be.
So Marcus didn't need to think much about that. The data from all thirteen Celestial Beings' machines is enough to work with.
After placing the verners, Marcus focused on the wings. The original design had eight wings, four on each side, powered by gravity resonators to assist with movement and energy control.
Now he can make more and add more functions to them.
'Ohh… data on fangs…' The Emperor pulled up information he had on Gundam Zwei's Fangs.
The AI system is linked to the machine's Neural Interface. Now it's nothing special; compared with the systems he developed for Andraste, his wife's machine is far more complex. The system in that Gundam is leaps and bounds more advanced, and it has been utilised in true warfare situations.
In fact, Andraste was one of the most destructive machines in the whole Independence War and World Conquest.
The small funnels on the mech's wings are a piece of art.
And now he is going to develop something from them.
'I don't need them to shoot anything… let's go with amplification. The wings will be verners and gravity resonators.
At that moment, he decided to mix it up. Can he make them separate two types of particles at once?
Lockon and the Nemesis Gundam showed that it could do so. GN particles can be emitted through gravity resonators.
'Could I ditch Verners completely and use Resonators?'
Resonators look similar to 'glass', but they're more like miniature thrusters with 'nets' inside. It's from where the thrust comes from. The particle needs to be pushed through this net so that it can leave the resonator, which causes the propulsion to happen.
It's nothing 'fancy' or 'ground-breaking', just a bit of ingenious tech. Verners are similar but much more primitive pieces of tech.
"Legion mark Resonators as possible complete replacement of the Celestial Being's Verners propulsion system."
[Understood, marking for review.]
After playing around with verners and then replacing them with resonators, Marcus improved the wings once more. He went for twelve wings this time around. He played with ten, a bit bigger, then made them a bit smaller, added another set of wings, and made them twelve in total.
With the wings in place, he began designing new attachments. The fangs were not good, and Andrastes' models didn't fit GN tech, so he went with something new and fresh instead.
'Funnels and Fangs exist, so let's make Bits.'
He went with a triangular shape, and one side had GN-sharpened edges that could cut through most known materials, and on top of that, they had particle storage inside.
The best part is that these bits can operate inside the atmosphere even if their size is bigger than Andraste's funnels.
'Six per wing, so in total seventy-two bits… with AI and Veda, with my spatial awareness, this shouldn't be hard to work with.
Not to mention there is Andraste's combat data.'
Marcus decided to push his latest mobile suit to the limit.
After the wings were done, the last piece was the Twin Drive system. Two cone-shaped reactors, He went with the most typical choice and added them to the shoulders.
These drives will rotate from back to the front, and could generate a field of particles that could deflect incoming beams.
But there is another option he decided to try to see if it could work.
The GN drives slide into the wings to directly power them, increasing speed.
"Legion, show me how the frame would fold into cruising mode."
[I need to generate a transformable frame, Your Majesty.]
"Do it." Marcus nodded as he saw the AI building up a transformable frame. As it was happening, he did a couple of spins in his comfortable office chair, and he was considering possible weaponry for his next Mobile Suit.
Since he was switching to a completely new platform, he might as well create new rifles and weapons.
With that in mind, he checked the weapons created by Celestial Being and Alejandro Corner's Gundam Thrones.
More precisely, the Innovodes faction.
Most of the weapons they created are particle compression and discharge.
'Some forms of acceleration are there as well.'
Regardless, before he can make any changes, Legion is done with the rendering of his new Mobile Suit. There are several options available for him.
"Huh… since the Cones can rotate, we can make something out of them."
Marcus recalled that one of the first Ribbons machines could transform into an artillery unit and even a tank.
But he was never purely a tank-type of guy. Planes were always something he preferred over tanks.
So he went with a plane… if he could copy what he did to Oldrin's Gundam and have a flying tank…
"Yeah…"
He checked the frames, realising that one had legs that bend forward and fold into a more aggressive plane frame.
'Why don't we add a bit more mass and allow the legs to transform into forward-facing cannons? Copying Aegis' leg model for that.'
With a decent selection of samples, he could easily apply another Gundam's parts. This is, after all, a designing part.
He pasted over Aegis' legs and altered them to be legs that transform into cannons.
The principal was similar, condensed and released in a burst shot, while the beam saber is condensed and keeps releasing energy at a steady pace.
"What do you think?" Marcus asked his AI.
[The legs will be transformable. We need to rework the leg frames; it will be weaker than the regular design.]
"No one needs to know that legs are on the fragile side of things." Marcus hummed as he stroked his chin. From the looks of it, he was somewhat done with the initial design.
The last thing he needs is to decide on the head unit.
'Gundam 1 is supposed to be the bad guy machine, so that I will keep it.'
The Emperor flicked with his finger and selected the head. After that, he pressed on to execute the model, and the AI, with Veda's assistance, began compiling it.
[Do you want to send this built request to HQ, Your Majesty?]
"No. I will compile a list of parts that I want them to send over, alongside the tools." Marcus explained to his AI.
[Understood, I shall assist you in the assembly.] Legion understood what his Creator desired.
"Indeed, I have years to waste in this…" 'regardless here or on my Earth.'
After waiting for a bit, he decided to check what the females of his household were doing.
When he left his room, he strolled around his house. He then deadpanned upon seeing them sleeping all over the living room. The smell of alcohol made him realise that one of them had sneaked in the booze.
"Last time I checked, I forbade them."
"...that is true, you forbid drink to Milly." A familiar voice of Euphemia made him turn around. He saw the pinkette with flushed cheeks and glassy eyes look at him.
"So you sneaked it in…" Marcus stared at her.
"Maybe~~~" Euphemia tried to pretend to be innocent.
"Ugh… you do know that I don't like this and… it's time for you to sleep." He got a bit commanding.
"I don't wanna!" The Pinkette burped while complaining.
The Emperor rolled his eyes as he walked over. At that moment, the drunk girl jumped on him.
But he already expected this. This was one of the girls' plans to have an 'upsie' moment. Not the first time, so when she was in his hands, they made eye contact, and Marcus's eyes glowed. A set of sleeping desire memories was added, making her wish to sleep.
"Sleep… silly girl," Marcus whispered into her ear, and the girl ended up dozing off in his hands.
