In simulated space, a 'stock' model of a Gundam appeared.
The one who was piloting it was Graham Aker, who was marvelling at the Neural Interface technology.
He moved his head and the Gundam moved his, the same applied to the limbs, though for stronger actions he would need to use the sticks and the pedals, which were made from solid holograms…
"What you are using is a basic setup of a Byzantine Cataphract, a stock model of a mass-produced unit.
As you train with us, the AI that is collecting the data will determine what kind of systems suit you the best." Jeremiah explained that his face was on the screen.
"I see. This was similar to the Neural interface system I assisted in developing for the Over Flag."
"Precisely, Legion is learning about you and determining how to utilise your gifts in the best possible way.
So give your best and don't dare to hold back."
"...I wouldn't want any other way." Graham grinned as he was getting goosebumps.
"Good, then Kewell, you know what to do."
With that said, tens of rockets began to fly towards him.
The Blonde recruit pointed his rifle and blasted one rocket with impressive accuracy. That shot caused a chain reaction, setting others off and ending the attack, but next came a blue-and-yellow beam and several bolts of yellow lightning rushing towards him.
It was a literal Artillery strike.
'That's some serious destructive power!' Graham activated the thrusters and gravity resonance, causing the mech to dodge the barrage rapidly.
'This is their mass production suit's manoeuvrability!?' For a second, he was surprised, but there was no time as his opponent moved the same way, if not better, as more literal 'cannon fire' was rushing towards him.
Beams, railguns, positron cannon, all sorts of destruction flying towards him.
"Are you serious!? You want me to fight this with a stock model!?" Graham was sweating buckets as his machine tried to move closer for a decent shot, but it was tragically hard.
Eventually, his machine got clipped, and he lost balance before the beams consumed him, and the simulation ended.
"Not bad, you lasted against a G-Force Gundam for over five minutes with a basic Cataphract-level Gundam." Jeremiah was pleased at what he saw.
"Now the data will be analysed and applied for the next engagement."
[Already got it. I have Graham Aker's Over Flag data, and I have been comparing them.]
All of a sudden, another voice joined; it was a synthetic male.
[With cross-referencing, I can determine that you prefer more of a speed option than armour.]
"That is true. I prefer dishing out than taking damage." Graham nodded as the next moment, he saw a Gundam form on his monitor.
It looked a bit similar to Exia of Celestial Being, but it was Anaheim's design. Slender frame, and several beam sabers.
[I am leaning more towards a Sword Gun design, from what I saw.]
"Oh…that is cool." Graham looked giddy seeing this machine!
[Adjustments finished, next test can commence.]
"Let me fight you this time."
The brown-haired knight said with a friendly smile on his face.
"I am Suzaku Kururugi, Pilot of Gundam Duel and close quarters specialist of G-Force." As the Knight introduced himself, he saw a Gundam manifest in front of him.
Graham's eyes perked up as he recalled this machine utterly crushing Exia in close-range combat! It was even an unfair fight, how brutally one-sided it was.
"Alright! Then let's fight!"
Moments later, the blonde's machine changed. He has a couple of moments to play around with the controls.
'It's even lighter than it was before! This simulation thing is incredible!' The Union's Ace grinned like a small child; he already likes this G-Force thing! This place rocks!
"Alright! I am done! Let's do it!"
Graham's Gundam pointed its new Sword gun hybrid at Duel and shot it while moving forward. This was the first time he had done it, but he already had a general idea of how this weapon worked.
'He is good. He already knows how the weapon works without even testing it.'
Suzaku effortlessly dodged the shots before moving in and activating his beam sabers.
The blonde grinned as he engaged the Gundam before him. Before he could advance, Duel's shoulder moved, revealing a weapon on it.
It was a cannon.
'Shit! A railgun!'
Graham moved his Gundam's head to dodge the shot, but this is where Suzaku showed him why he was a master at close-range combat. The Knight was a freak of nature, and his Duel can imitate some of that freakishness.
With a knee strike to the gut, Graham reacted and tried to counter with his sword gun, but Suzaku had anticipated how the blonde would react.
The next two exchanges caused the blonde pilot to lose his limbs before his Gundam's head was cleanly cut off.
"Not bad. You lasted against Ser Kururugi a decent amount." Jeremiah nodded with satisfaction.
"Lasted? I got cut to pieces after the initial exchange." The blonde wasn't feeling that good after that!
"And that is more than anyone else."
"..."
[Applying new data.]
There were some minor changes to his machine.
"Let's do this again, Ser Kururugi!" Graham wanted to fight Suzaku again.
"Very well."
After this, the pair continued to spar, and the Union's Ace showed them why he was an ace. He was learning rapidly, and after several losses, he was able to exchange a decent amount of strikes before he was taken apart.
"Impressive, he is good. That growing curve is…"
"Unheard of."
Maya, who was standing next to Villetta, commented. She was a bit concerned that someone from another world was offered such a privilege, but now… as long as this guy is loyal to the crown, then she doesn't mind that he joins G-Force.
"This is to train Legion as well." Jeremiah chipped in.
"We need more talented people to utilise this system so that unique weapons can be created. Weapons that could lead to systems, like the one created by Princess Cornelia when she trained with the system for the creation of her Morrigan Gundam."
"...The Beam deflector and energy absorption system." The pair of them knew this system well. It became standard-issue equipment and is utilised on warships and even in colonies in the event of an attack.
"Precisely, his Majesty would use any chance he has to use it to develop something unique."
"...Yes. but I assume it's not that simple…" Maya commented that if it were that important, it would be widely spread throughout the Empire.
"Of course it's not. Legion's processing power, and the talent has to be way above normal. Even then, it could lead to nothing impressive but some basic improvements." Jeremiah snorted as he looked at them.
"Besides, we all know that this depends on His Majesty's whim; he designed this system to help create mobile suits for himself and the ones he acknowledges."
~~~~~~Hours Later~~~~~~
Truth to Jeremiah's word. Legion did come up with a new system for Graham Gundam.
It was based on data from Gundam Andraste and Celestial Being. The Gun Sword was improved to the point that it can extend and grow with bits that attach to the weapon; these bits are stored on the shoulders and the Gundam's skirt.
[This system is devised with GN future technology in mind.]
[Custom Anaheim Gundam Force- 71 Graham. A variable close-range Gundam that can be used for range, deal with multiple threats at once or engage in close range.]
"...Amazing, so this is what all of that data leads to. I have never seen those detachable pieces before. Are they based on Gundam Zwei's fangs?" The blonde asked the AI.
[Partially, the Holy Byzantine Empire had its own version of it. The Funnels, ranged or physical units.
Eventually, it could also deflect beams using the Beam Deflection technology developed during wartime.
However, this is a new piece of technology as I designed a transformable frame for future utilisation with GN particle.
Using the neural interface, you will be aware of the pieces; this will help you in dismantling threats to the Empire in the most literal sense.]
"..."
"...This is far more impressive than I have expected."
Jeremiah commented as he saw the machine on the screen. The frame is slender and equipped with a Custom Sword Rifle that expands into a huge sword or a prototype wave beam.
For the wave beam, simply put the bit attached to the barrel and use the bit parts to launch the beam as an extension.
If this technology is applied properly… for example, on warships, it could be used to deliver 'splash' damage instead of a straight line; it could be horizontal or vertical.
It could end as revolutionary in a broadside exchange between warships.
"Improving this tech was something that we have been considering; the last person to pioneer it was Empress Leila, but she is not an active combatant anymore.
With Celestial Being's data and now your data, we created something praiseworthy! His Majesty will be pleased!"
The moment Jeremiah starts speaking about the Emperor, Graham can tell it's becoming zealous fanaticism.
Though… he can tell all of the members of G-Force are like that.
'I wonder how Billy is doing… I hope he is having as much fun as I am.'
~~~~~~On Other Side of G-Force Headquarters~~~~~~
"...A sun… a literal sun confined and properly utilised as a source of energy! Absurd, this is utterly absurd!" Billy Katagiri was gawking at the red sun behind a container.
This was the power source that was powering the whole station they were in.
"Much more than that. The sun is heavy; it generates gravity, those rods and the sections on the sides are rotating, generating the gravity which we use to stand at this moment." Lloyd explained to the newest addition to G-Force.
It will take a while, but Billy will eventually be added to the rest of the team. But they just added more than 250 people from Celestial Being.
There could be some friction, so for now, Billy will be with Lloyd.
"...That… I assume this was made possible with the Precurson Civilisation's expertise in frequencies?" Billy had already heard about the crazy technology humans wielded in the previous cycle of civilisation.
He wouldn't mind researching that, but it belongs to an even more secretive branch of the government.
"Not quite, His Majesty discovered that on his own. The technology from previous humans expanded on it and allowed it to be utilised in easier ways." Lloyd explained, motioning for me to follow him.
That lazy, casual behaviour from this top researcher is making it hard for Billy to take this seriously… almost everything sounds like a game to him.
"I see."
"Indeed. His Majesty might not look like a scientist, but he is one scary individual. He made the first proto-Fusion Reactor back when he was just a student at the academy, using scraps from old military hardware in the basement.
That is where he found his faction, Anaheim, in the basement of the occupied nation. So when you sometimes question his choices, just know that he made a sun in a basement, with scraps." Lloyd chuckled while saying that.
Not that Billy found it funny.
"...Yes… I am well aware. I did find him… unique. When I first saw the proposed changes to our Flag, I thought it was too easy, but it turns out that we had a mobile suit developer who could build this.
Now it made sense. He was maximising our technology without revealing anything excessive." Billy recalled his gut feeling years ago, when he felt it was 'easy' that Marcus was pulling technological advancements out of thin air.
All of a sudden, years of advancements passed in a matter of days, and their Over Flags, powered by simple batteries, could keep up with machines powered by perpetual-motion engines.
"It does sound like something his Majesty would do. Now come with me! Let me show you one of the greatest inventions of mankind!" All of a sudden, he got excited and motioned to come after him.
"There is no need to rush, sir!" Billy needed to run after him.
'What an eccentric man!'
"Come! Let me show you Automated Assembly Lines!" Lloyd was grinning as he ran towards the wide doors ahead of him.
