Chapter 74 - Chapter Seventy-Three: Hillar

At this moment, the Kaili city army had already approached the outskirts of the city. They had located Kote and his people and surrounded them from the outside.

But Kote and Obi-Wan were still chatting leisurely.

"You're saying your Dark Side power is stronger now, but you're prone to indecisiveness? Don't make me laugh." Obi-Wan sounded like he was listening to a joke.

"I'm serious, if you don't believe me, feel it yourself." Kote placed Obi-Wan's hand on his shoulder.

Obi-Wan felt it, and indeed, even with stronger Dark Side power, he hadn't become extreme or changed in any other way.

"Why is this, and why is your Dark Side power so strong!" Obi-Wan pulled his hand back, wary of Kote.

"I can change my power at will, just like this." Kote imagined beautiful things, and his power directly transformed into an even stronger Light Side.

"Remember this website domain for the best Taiwanese novels!"

Obi-Wan felt all of this. It was simply impossible. Such a thing had never been heard of. Had anything like this ever happened in the history of the Jedi Order?

Freely changing his Light Side and Dark Side, what exactly was he?!

Obi-Wan wasn't sure, but currently, Kote was his friend, so he asked a question important to everyone, "Are you a Sith or a Jedi, Kote?"

"I only belong to Mandalore, and only to myself. I am merely a user of The Force, not affiliated with any side," Kote answered naturally.

"That's somewhat reassuring." Obi-Wan was helpless; after all, the Jedi Order hadn't kept Kote back then, and now no one could interfere with his choices.

Just then, Commander Jabba walked over. "Commander, the local natives on Kalee have gathered. They've stopped the food distribution."

"Have their Clan Chief or Great Master come. Keep everyone else outside for now." For the safety of the people, Kote only allowed the highest leader to come.

On the outskirts, the Kaili people trained by the Mandalorians and that company of Mandalorians stood in confrontation with the local Kaili warriors, both sides pointing weapons at each other.

"Why are you helping these outsiders!" A Kaili warrior raised his bow and arrow at the Kaili people on the other side.

"No, my compatriots, we have returned to help you! The Gods have descended! He has come to help us, the Kaili people!" The Kaili people trained by the Mandalorians shouted.

"Kalee only has two demigods, Great Khan Hilar and Khan Kumar! Everyone else wants to enslave us!" The Kaili warriors completely disbelieved the opposing claims, as eight Khans currently led the Kaili people.

Seeing these stubborn compatriots, the Mandalorian Kaili people were helpless but wanted the other side to agree to continue distributing food. "You don't understand, but at least let us give the food to our compatriots!"

"No, this is all strategic material and must be uniformly distributed by the Great Khan," the other side replied.

Just then, Jabba, having received Kote's message, walked over and told the Kaili translator to ask their Clan Chief or leader to come forward and speak. The Kaili people nodded, indicating understanding.

"Tell your Khan to come out. The God wants to speak with him alone!" The Kaili translator relayed Jabba's words.

But the other side completely disagreed, shouting, "This is impossible..." However, a male Kaili, taller than the others, walked out and calmed him, "It's alright, I believe they won't harm us." This was clearly the Kaili Great Khan, Kieman Jai Hilar.

"Alright, Great Khan." The Balta retreated but kept his eyes fixed on everyone on the opposite side.

"You must be the Great Khan. Come with me, I'll take you to meet the God." The Kaili acting as translator walked over and led Hilar.

Hilar followed behind, asking a question he wanted to know, "Why do you call them God and God's messenger?"

The Kaili person in front quickly answered his question, "Because they appeared when God's manifestation was most needed, and they taught us how to protect our homeland, and even provided food to our Kaili compatriots for free. Is that not a God?"

Hearing his compatriot's explanation, Hilar understood. It was just like how people believed he and Kumar were Reincarnation of deities, serving as the demigods of their time.

Soon, Hilar saw Obi-Wan and Kote sitting at a makeshift table and chairs, drinking tea.

Upon seeing the opposing leader approach, the two stood up and nodded, showing friendliness.

"Greetings, guests from a distant planet. I am Kieman Jai Hilar, the current Great Khan of Kalee. Thank you for saving my compatriots and even bringing us food." Hilar spoke first, expressing his gratitude.

Kote waved his hand, "I am Kote Vizsla. All of this is The Force's will, which is why I coincidentally saved your compatriots." He then handed over a cup of tea, a specialty of Vadir.

Hilar took a sip, indicating it was quite good.

"I am Obi-Wan Kenobi. Both I and this person beside me are special envoys dispatched by the Republic to investigate and mediate the conflict between the Yamri people and the Kaili people." Obi-Wan spoke, which was much faster than Great Master Qui-Gon going to the temple.

"I also guessed the purpose of your visit, but we cannot make peace with them. They have invaded our land and enslaved my people. This is not something that can simply be ended with a ceasefire; this is a blood feud!" Although he had guessed their purpose, Hilar still couldn't accept it when he actually heard them say it.

"Then negotiate with them. The Republic is here to mediate this matter," Obi-Wan said to Hilar.

"But they must first return all the land and resources to us! That is the attitude for negotiation, not the Republic taking sides!" Hilar said to the two.

"But you are no match for them at all," Obi-Wan painstakingly persuaded.

"That's just our strategy. Now, the army, the people, and the resources are all in my hands. I even have a million troops!" Hilar told Obi-Wan about his strategy.

"You mean, all the previous retreats were just a means for you to gather your army and people?" Kote was a bit restless upon hearing this.

"This is a strategy for the victory of all Kaili people. Concentrating power leads to triumph," Hilar said as a matter of course.

"Hmm, that makes a lot of sense, but I don't like it. Don't translate that," Kote said to the translator beside him.

Upon hearing Hilar's words, the Kaili translator was somewhat distraught. It was for such reasons that hundreds of millions of Kaili people were enslaved and trafficked.

"Furthermore, the food you brought should be uniformly allocated by us. Now, we should train more troops, not give them food. Just let them live, but don't let them live too well. I imagine as a politician, you can understand, right?" Hilar said as a matter of course.

Kote nodded in agreement, preparing to have the Kaili people purchase this batch of grain. The free food was gone, while Obi-Wan clenched his fists tightly, wanting to punch him.

"You're right, but as a politician, I've changed my mind. There's no more free food. If you want it, you must exchange it for your most precious possessions." Kote looked at the other party's attitude and felt that with such a leader, even if the Kaili people won, it would only cause greater chaos.

"You! You're going back on your word! Isn't this Republic aid!" Hilar thought Kote's continuous nodding meant he agreed, but he didn't expect him to suddenly go back on his word.

"No, the Republic has no time for your backwater, poverty-stricken place that can't even pay taxes. If I hadn't wanted to help the Kaili people, they would still be under attack. And do you really think I'm someone easy to bully?" Kote truly wanted to burst out laughing. He thought he was so clever.

"What did you say!" Hilar was slightly annoyed. He had thought the other person was a pushover.

"I suppose a bumpkin like you wouldn't know who I am," Kote stood up, his six-foot-tall frame looking down at Hilar. "Then let me formally introduce myself. You are looking at the Commander of the Mandalore Police Force, Chairman of Mandalore Free Company, Chairman of Vadir Shipyards Company, Governor of the Mandalorian Sector, Zanbar System, and Vadir, Clan Chief of Mandalore's strongest clan, and the renowned Kote Vizsla of the Mandalorian Sector."

"These are just some of my titles, of course, you might not know what Mandalore is," Kote held up five fingers. "This is five, representing that Mandalore would only need five hours to conquer this entire planet if it wanted to invade Kalee."

"And my mediation is merely because of my personal noble ideals and the pitiful state of the Kaili people. So this is compassion, and a person like you is completely unworthy to be a leader of the Kaili people." Kote made a gesture to leave, dismissing him.
