The first thing Arthur thought while looking at Eugene's smile was that even while looking apologetic, the man was pretty. It was the kind of smile that contained vulnerability, making it easy for people to feel bad and forgive them.
Arthur would definitely forgive Eugene easily, whatever his fault was.
A few seconds after that thought passed, confusion followed. Arthur tilted his head inquisitively. "What do you mean?"
The apologetic smile turned into a wry one. "By hiding the truth from both of you and Hannah."
An admission of guilt all of a sudden? Didn't Eugene say he wouldn't apologize about that? Arthur had accepted that as well, so he couldn't help but widen his eyes. "That's--"
"You've done nothing wrong, really, and Hannah deserves to have a set of parents just like any other child," Eugene sighed. "But I was too prideful to accept that."
