Arthur was, quite naturally, shocked at the stern answer. His arms, which were wrapped around the omega's waist, trembled slightly.
No. Eugene said they would not work out even if he returned to the past and changed his decision.

But Eugene went further than that. "It would probably turn out even worse."
Arthur widened his eyes. "Worse?"
"Well...I guess it might work out at first?" Eugene tilted his head. "If you called me, I might entertain the thought of going for a real date."
He was thinking about settling down somewhat anyway, stopped sleeping around with random people, and was looking for a relationship. He would have thought this puppy-like, friendless alpha to be entertaining for at least three dates before deciding whether he would like to go further or call it quits.
"Then...why?" Arthur asked confusedly. In his head, as long as they could work it out through several dates at the start, as long as they could become lovers, things should go well.
