"Ian, should we try contacting Emilia?" Ella asked on their way back from the Wynne House.
"H-huh?"
Ian flinched, lifting his hand off the little girl sleeping on her lap so he wouldn't accidentally grab her out of surprise.
"I mean...if it's for a witness account, her words would be more...credible, don't you think?" Ella explained. "She was older than me back then."
"I..." Ian bit his lips, carefully caressing Hannah's hair. "I don't want to force her into this. She has her own family, and it might..."
Even now, he was still afraid Jacob would do something to him and Ella. His other sister already had to deal with having shitty parents who abandoned her, and Ian didn't have the heart to pull her into a fight against a shitty brother-in-law.
"We're not forcing her," Ella whispered. "We're just...asking, you know? If she doesn't want to, then..." she shrugged. Besides, there was something more important than testimony. "You haven't been talking to her either, have you?"
