The children almost refused to sleep after playing with the sparklers, but there was nothing they could do against natural drowsiness when they had been running around all afternoon. The adults stayed awake past midnight to have their own New Year's Eve party, and missed their usual breakfast time because of that.
Because of that, Ella and Ian had a late breakfast with Arthur and Eugene, who woke up last. Even the children had already eaten and were on a morning walk with their great-grandfather. Ella felt ashamed at first for being so tardy, but she was grateful later on because she didn't have to be too mindful when half her soul was still in the dreamscape.
"People are coming later?" she raised her brows. "Like...relatives?"
"Hmm...not really. Well, there will be some relatives, but it probably only Grandma's nieces and nephews," Arthur shrugged. "The others either live out of town or abroad, so they'll just come for our wedding."
"Ah, makes sense," Eugene nodded.
