The one who texted him first was Mr. Edwards, followed by his dad a minute later. Receiving such news out of the blue, honestly, pushed away all of the thoughts about the leak and the doxxing.
"Wait—what?" Sophie grabbed her friend's hand and pulled the phone closer to her eyes. "Isn't there usually a two- or three-month cooling-off period? Isn't this extremely fast?"
"Hmm...maybe someone pressured the office to get it done quickly?" Eugene shrugged, pulling his phone back so he could reply to his dad.
"Who—" Sophie tilted her head before pausing. Her eyes widened gradually as her mind churned. "Oh...Arthur's dad?"
"...yeah," Eugene glanced at his friend in amusement. He never told her about his conversation with James Crowley, but she always managed to draw the right conclusion. "This timing, though..."
