Gravity Chamber
Sweat dripped from Vegeta's chiseled face, splashing onto the metal floor with a dull thud.
"Haa… haa… haa…"
Vegeta stood shirtless, muscles bulging, veins popping across his body.
"Kakarot…"
"And… Loren…"
Seven full years.
Ever since the Cell Games, Vegeta had trained without rest.
He swore that one day, he would surpass both Goku and Loren and reclaim the title of the strongest Saiyan.
"Aaahhh—!"
Vegeta roared, clenching his fists as a blazing golden aura erupted around him!
"Not enough!"
"Still far from enough!"
He punched wildly into the air, each strike tearing through the chamber with deafening sonic booms.
Mount Paozu
Gohan's home sat quietly among the mountains, far from the noise of the city.
"This… is your house?"
Videl stood in front of the round, oddly shaped building, her bright blue eyes filled with disbelief.
She had imagined it countless times.
Gohan—the gentle, polite honor student.
The awkward superhero Great Saiyaman.
But his home?
It looked like a… cute mushroom house.
"Uh… yeah."
Gohan scratched the back of his head, smiling shyly.
"Come in. My mom should have dinner ready."
As soon as they entered, a rich aroma filled the air.
A woman with long black hair and an apron stepped out of the kitchen, carrying an absurdly massive platter.
On it—
Golden roasted dinosaur legs.
Videl froze.
"Gohan, you're back!"
"And this must be…?"
Chi-Chi's sharp eyes locked onto Videl, scanning her from head to toe with the unmistakable gaze of a future mother-in-law.
"M-Mom, this is my classmate, Videl."
Gohan's cheeks reddened as he introduced her.
"She… she wants to learn Flight to prepare for the World Martial Arts Tournament."
"Oh? A classmate…"
Chi-Chi's smile instantly widened.
"Well then, welcome! Sit down, dinner's almost ready!"
"Ah—hello, Auntie…"
Videl sat stiffly.
She suddenly felt… judged.
"Where's Goten?" Gohan asked quickly.
"He's training in the backyard with your dad."
Chi-Chi untied her apron and sat at the table.
"Honestly, your father only knows how to train."
"He doesn't know how to spend time with his wife at all."
She complained loudly—but her face was full of happiness.
Videl sat there, completely out of place.
This family was really strange.
Dinosaur meat.
Dad training outside.
Flying lessons.
"…Um, Gohan?"
Videl finally whispered.
"Flight… does it really let people fly?"
"Of course."
Gohan nodded as if it were common sense.
"It's pretty simple."
Simple?!
Videl's mouth twitched.
Backyard
After dinner, Gohan led Videl to an open space behind the house.
"Alright, let's begin."
"The first step to learning Flight is sensing Ki."
"Ki?"
Videl blinked.
"Yes. Ki."
Gohan explained patiently.
"Everyone has energy inside their body."
"You just need to feel it… and control it."
"Like this."
He extended his hand.
Hum—
A soft white ball of light formed in his palm.
Videl's eyes went wide.
Her mouth fell open.
What… what was that?
Magic?
Special effects?
"Do you feel it? That's Ki."
Gohan dispersed the light.
"Now, you try."
Videl took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and concentrated.
One minute.
Five minutes.
Ten minutes.
Nothing but sweat.
"…It's not working."
She opened her eyes, frustrated.
"I can't feel anything."
"That's normal," Gohan reassured her gently.
"It takes time—and talent."
"Back then, I—"
He stopped.
…He had learned it instantly.
That would be awkward to say.
"Um… how about I help you?" Gohan suggested.
"Help?"
"I'll share some Ki with you so you can experience flying first."
Before she could respond, Gohan stepped behind her and gently placed his hands on her back.
A warm current flowed into her body.
Suddenly—
Her body felt light.
Her feet lifted off the ground.
"Ah—!"
Videl gasped as she floated upward.
"I—I'm flying!"
"I'm really flying!"
She looked down, eyes sparkling with excitement.
So this was flying!
"Careful! Balance yourself!" Gohan called.
But Videl was already panicking and flailing in midair.
The Ki ran out.
"Ahhh—help!"
She dropped like a rock.
Gohan sighed.
In a flash, he appeared midair and caught her.
Holding her in his arms, feeling her warmth and faint fragrance, Gohan's face turned crimson.
"Th-thank you…"
Videl's heart was racing.
She wasn't sure if it was from the fall…
Or from how close he was.
"N-no problem."
Gohan slowly lowered them back to the ground.
For a moment—
Neither of them spoke.
The air between them felt… strangely awkward.
