A low, ragged, and entirely feral grumble vibrated deep within the Fox King's chest.
"Somewhere else," Ren repeated, the words tearing from his throat.
He didn't give her a single second to brace herself. Ren's massive hands clamped down on her hips, his grip bruising in its intensity. He practically lifted Roxy off the floorboards of the nursery, dragging her backward out of the moonlit room and into the dimly lit hallway.
They tore down the corridor, the heavy white chiffon of Roxy's over-cape trailing wildly behind them.
Ren kicked the heavy oak door of the master bedroom open, hauling her inside. The moment they crossed the threshold, he slammed the door shut with his boot. A deafening crack echoed through the room as the latch caught.
Instantly, Ren spun her around. He slammed her front flush against the solid wood of the door, pressing her face and chest against the cool oak.
