Selena called at twelve forty-seven.
Roman answered before the first ring finished and said nothing, because nothing was the correct response until he knew what he was responding to.
"She's genuine," Selena said. "Or as genuine as someone in her position can be, which is sufficient for our purposes." She gave him the outline: Voight's location, the communication protocols, the two additional operatives.
Roman listened. He was standing at the window of the library, watching nothing. He had been standing there for forty minutes, not because standing helped but because sitting felt wrong.
"Two additional operatives," he said, when Selena finished.
"Yes. She doesn't have their identities yet. She'll send what she has tonight."
"Which means we have three operational assets moving toward Eli currently. Holt is out. That leaves two unknowns and Carmila, who we're now treating as temporarily friendly."
"Yes."
"That's a lot of moving parts."
