"I can explain!" Little Spider held out his hand, adopting a conciliatory posture as the Hulk stomped closer, his face contorted with a fury that made him look as if he wanted to devour his opponent whole. But the Hulk had no intention of giving him a chance to speak.
Betty was his only weakness, and now Little Spider had snatched her from his grasp. As the old saying went, this was practically suicidal.
Little Spider seemed to realize this as the Hulk showed no signs of slowing down. Instead, he ran faster, single-handedly creating the impression of a charging army. Everything in his path was being destroyed—the earth trembled, the ground split, and anything that blocked his way was sent flying. It all seemed to scream at Little Spider: *You've provoked someone you shouldn't have.*
But it was already too late. Little Spider knew in his heart that there was no turning back. So he could only grab Betty and start running.
With a long web line, he swung Betty toward a distant skyscraper. The Hulk, witnessing this, refused to let them escape. He let out a furious roar, the force of the blast causing the air around him to tremble. Then, he crouched down, his leg muscles tensing and exploding. The ground beneath him erupted as if from a terrible explosion, dirt and debris flying upward as the Hulk launched himself into the air like a living cannonball, hurtling toward Little Spider.
Seeing the Hulk's massive form hurtling toward him, Little Spider's heart leaped into his throat. He quickly shot out another web line, adjusting his trajectory and narrowly dodging the Hulk's aerial assault. Then he noticed outlandish sounds emanating from the skyscraper he'd been aiming for.
Hank dropped through a window, and the entire floor erupted in a series of thunderous explosions. A massive cloud of dust and debris, mixed with countless fragments, shattered every window on the floor and erupted in an endless torrent. Even Little Spider, thinking with his rear end, could tell that floor was utterly ruined, a scene of utter devastation. Still, a sliver of hope remained: perhaps a single wall might hold firm, giving that rampaging green behemoth a taste of resistance.
But the figure charging through the billowing dust proved his daydreams were just that. As he watched Hulk leap again, he wished he could punch himself twice. *Why didn't I retreat when I had the chance? Why did I have to stick around to watch this disaster?* Now, escape was impossible, for Hulk was once again lunging at him.
*Someone save me!* Little Spider swung toward another building with Betty, his heart screaming the plea. Behind them trailed the terrifying force of destruction that was Hulk. The buildings he targeted rarely fared well; after Little Spider swung away, the hulking brute would inevitably give them a thorough "renovation."
Little Spider didn't know when this would end, only that he couldn't hold on much longer if it continued like this.
Meanwhile, high above, someone else was also reaching their limit. It was Jennifer, She-Hulk, Hulk's sister, facing off against Dawn Knight Zhou Yi.
To make Jennifer understand his good intentions and get her to sit down and listen to his explanation calmly, Zhou Yi resorted to underhanded tactics.
He threw Jennifer into the air. Without the solid ground beneath her feet, her strength was reduced to less than half. Coupled with her impaired balance and the mental strain of being at such a height, she could barely utilize half of that remaining strength.
The sky had never been the giants' domain, but for Zhou Yi, it was his domain. He was far more at ease in the sky than on the ground, because he could fly—and fly exceptionally well.
Add to this his vastly superior strength and speed, and in this environment, Jennifer was almost entirely at his mercy.
He began by taking the Giantess on a vertical take-off and landing with a straight-line distance exceeding 10,000 meters. Then, he spun her around in the stratosphere, performing a series of dizzying maneuvers like the Thomas spin and the invincible wheel, all designed to challenge her sense of balance and gravity. To spare Jennifer's delicate psyche, he refrained from exceeding the speed of sound. Even so, the ordeal was brutal.
Though Jennifer now possessed the physical capacity of a superhero, her mind remained that of an ordinary person. She had the strength of a giant, but her heart still belonged to Jennifer Walters, a mortal with ordinary emotions and thoughts.
She would fear, tremble, and compromise, unlike her brother Bruce, who, once transformed, became a rage-fueled warrior. So, after Zhou Yi had subjected her to the same torment repeatedly for nearly twenty minutes, she finally broke.
"Stop! Stop! I surrender!" she screamed as he plummeted her from 3,000 to 4,000 meters down to less than 500 meters. At her cry, her body froze mid-air, and Zhou Yi materialized before her.
"What? Finally willing to have a calm conversation?"
"You damn scoundrel, you shameless bastard!" A look of pure hatred began to surface on Jennifer's green face. Being manipulated like this was the ultimate humiliation for her.
"Uh, are you sure this is how you want to talk to me? Or do you think I didn't do enough just now?"
Zhou Yi preferred to counter such baseless curses with the most direct approach. Hearing his words, Jennifer wisely chose to shut her mouth.
"Good. Listen to me, ma'am!" Zhou Yi, controlling Jennifer's body to face him properly instead of upside down, began to explain his intentions.
"Know this: I've intended to help you from the start. But I think your emotions are running a little too high. Don't interrupt, let me finish."
"I was tasked with finding Bruce Banner. But after reviewing his file, I negotiated a condition with my employers. If they want Bruce Banner to join them, they must obtain his consent. If he refuses, I'll take him to a safe place myself. All of this hinges on Mr. Banner's wishes. In other words, the initiative rests entirely with him."
"Your performance truly surprised me. I don't know what you're thinking, but don't you think it's too hasty to label me an enemy? If I were truly your enemy, believe me, I would have subdued you in that office long ago." Zhou Yi said, pointing at her and then at himself. "To be blunt, you couldn't stop me. Now, do you have anything to say?"
Jennifer stared at Zhou Yi for a long moment before responding in a hesitant tone, "Can you swear to your words?"
"I don't believe in God or any deities. But I can swear on my own honor that everything I've said is true." Zhou Yi appeared genuinely sincere on this point. As he had said, he was here to resolve the issue, not create more problems.
"Alright, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt this time. I can help convince Bruce and the others. But I expect you to keep your word." Jennifer finally relented, implicitly admitting her mistake. For a woman, this was not an unreasonable concession. Zhou Yi chose to accept her apology for the time being.
Of course, this was only because she was a woman and had the right to be tsundere. If a man dared to act this way with him, he would have shown him exactly how many colors there were in the world and how many stars humanity could see.
"Very well, Ms. I don't yet know your name." Zhou Yi began to gaze directly at this Giantess who stood a few inches taller than him. He needed her name to start their cooperation.
"Jennifer Susan Walters. You can call me Jennifer," she replied.
Zhou Yi immediately said, "Then, Jennifer, I'll take you back to the surface, and you'll need to persuade Mr. Bruce Banner to meet with that group. I'll arrange the meeting. The outcome will be up to you."
"Deal!" Jennifer nodded decisively. As a lawyer, she found no issues with the proposal. *The shorter the proposal, the fewer loopholes,* was a lawyer's creed.
"See? It was that simple. If you had listened to me from the beginning, none of this would have happened," Zhou Yi grumbled. Just as he was about to do something else, Medusa reported an incoming communication request. He accepted, and Coulson's voice quickly filled his ear.
"Where are you?"
"I was just negotiating with that female Giantess and we've finally made some progress!" Zhou Yi replied, sensing the urgency in Coulson's tone. "What's going on? You sound worried!"
"The situation has changed. The Hulk is already rampaging through the city. Spider-Man is trying to contain him, but it's not working. Plus, another monster is heading towards Broadway—his destructive power is on par with the Hulk's. It's unbelievable! Man, whatever you're doing, get back here now. We need you."
Coulson hung up, clearly overwhelmed. Zhou Yi's expression turned grim.
"Didn't Banner lose the ability to transform?" he asked Jennifer, who looked just as bewildered as he was.
"What's happening?" she pressed, realizing something was wrong.
"The Hulk has appeared and is destroying the city. I need to stop him."
"That's impossible!" Jennifer muttered, then immediately grabbed Zhou Yi's arm. "Take me with you. I'm coming with you."
Zhou Yi nodded. He grabbed Jennifer's hand and sprinted toward Broadway at breakneck speed.
