"Calen!" Roxanna called softly as she held his hands tightly.
Calen's chest rose and fell rapidly as he struggled to catch his breath. His eyes were still unfocused, as if his mind had not fully returned yet. For a few seconds, he simply stared upward, blinking again and again.
"Roxanna…?" he finally murmured, his voice hoarse.
"Yes, it's me." Roxanna leaned closer, still holding his hands. "You're safe now."
Hearing her voice seemed to pull him back to reality. Calen slowly turned his head and looked at her. When his eyes finally focused on her face, something in his expression softened.
"You…" His fingers tightened slightly around her hands. "You're really here."
"Of course I am." Roxanna smiled gently, though her eyes were still a little red. "Where else would I go?"
For a moment, Calen didn't say anything. He simply stared at her, as if he was making sure that he had truly returned to the real world.
