Elaris saw illusions of Kael standing beside Bloomfall in the rain.
Kael saw Elaris turning away from him, her eyes hollow.
Every vision cut deeper than any blade.
But neither of them broke.
"Kael!" Elaris shouted through the storm.
"Focus on me—not them. On us."
Kael nodded.
"Always."
They clasped hands briefly.
Crimson and silver light wrapped around them as their powers synchronized.
The illusions shattered instantly.
Xyren projected a barrier dome around them.
"Warning. Core corruption levels: seventy-eight percent. Recommend tactical retreat."
"Not yet," Elaris said firmly.
They soared upward again through the storm, striking at Nyvrix and his mysterious partner.
But every attack was absorbed.
Converted.
Returned.
"He's feeding on our power," Kael muttered.
"Then we make him choke on it," Elaris replied.
Ancient runes ignited across her mechanical arm as she activated the Runestone Leaf.
Their next attack was precise resonance.
Lightning and frost spiraled together, blasting directly into Nyvrix's chest.
The mysterious partner intercepted it—armor cracking to reveal glowing black veins beneath.
They straightened slowly.
"Interesting… so this is what love-fueled power feels like."
The Breaking Point
The storm intensified.
Elaris's circuits sparked dangerously.
Kael's aura flickered with exhaustion.
Nyvrix slammed his palm into the ground.
Black tendrils erupted, wrapping around Kael's legs and dragging him down the spire.
"Kael!" Elaris screamed.
She dived after him without hesitation.
Her wings cut through the tendrils in a flash of plasma fire.
She collided with him midair as the platform exploded beneath them.They crashed onto a lower tier.
Smoke drifted through the air.
"You should've stayed back," Kael said quietly.
Elaris smiled faintly.
"And miss saving you?"
Lightning rippled between them.
High above, Bloomfall's voice trembled through the comm channel.
"I didn't want this… Nyvrix… I didn't want to hurt them…"
Nyvrix's expression softened slightly.
"Then stop resisting."
Crimson light engulfed her wings.
One turned black crystal.
The other remained white.
The shard cracked.
Cliffhanger – The Rise of the Void
The mysterious partner lifted both hands toward the sky.
The shard's energy surged into them.
Lightning twisted into black flame.
Elaris stared in horror.
"He's absorbing the shard! Kael—if he completes the fusion—"
"There won't be a city left," Kael finished.
He pushed himself up.
Storm aura flaring.
Elaris grabbed his arm desperately.
"You can't fight him alone."
"Maybe not," Kael said quietly.
"But I can buy you time to destroy the shard."
Lightning struck behind him.
"Tell Xyren to lock coordinates."
He stepped forward into the storm.
"This ends here."
Elaris called his name—
but thunder swallowed her voice.
Kael charged straight into the crimson storm.
Stormfang blazing like a comet.
And the storm swallowed him whole.
