As that monster descended onto the field wrapped in an aura of utter stillness, Chigami's pupils shrank violently. His face was filled with disbelief. Even now, he still could not accept what he was seeing.
"Moon of the Closed Heaven clearly targeted Earthbound Immortal Ccapac Apu with its effect! So why was Baronne de Fleur on my field also forcibly used as material for this monster?"
Yusaku's voice remained flat and unruffled, as if he were stating something perfectly ordinary.
"Underworld Goddess of the Closed World's summoning condition says that, when Link Summoning this card, you can also use up to 1 monster your opponent controls as Link Material."
He lifted his eyes toward Chigami's ashen face, a faint sharpness flashing in them.
"With that effect, plus Moon of the Closed Heaven's own effect, doesn't that make exactly two of your monsters? Right. I almost forgot to activate my effect."
Chigami froze.
"?"
Before he could react, Yusaku suddenly threw up his hand, his voice ringing across the entire arena.
"I activate Underworld Goddess of the Closed World's effect! When this card is Link Summoned, I can negate the effects of all face-up monsters my opponent controls!"
An invisible wave of darkness erupted from the goddess like a tide of black ink, sweeping across the field. The monsters on Chigami's field looked as if all life had been drained from them, the light around their bodies rapidly dimming.
"Now, both your Baronne de Fleur and your Earthbound Immortal are gone."
Yusaku folded his arms and looked at Chigami calmly.
"So. Do you still think I can't end this Duel this turn?"
By now, Chigami had long since lost the swagger and confidence he started with. But when his gaze swept over the softly glowing Continuous Trap at his feet, then over the monsters he still had left on the field, and finally over the few cards remaining in Yusaku's hand, some of his unease was suppressed by a flicker of hope.
"You've only got one monster on your field now, and in your hand…"
His eyes locked onto Yusaku's hand.
"You've only got three cards left. One of them is even the Quick-Play Spell you searched. But as long as Royal Decree is still on my field, that Quick-Play Spell of yours will never resolve! And I still have three monsters on my field, two of them with over 2500 ATK, while the last one is sitting there in Defense Position! So…"
After laying out his analysis in a tidy, methodical way, Chigami straightened his back again.
"You only have one monster on the field, and just two usable cards in hand. I've got 8000 LP and a defensive line made up of three monsters. With the resources you have left, I absolutely do not believe you can finish this Duel this turn!"
"Very thorough analysis." Yusaku lightly clapped his hands. But the moment he finished, his tone shifted sharply, turning cold and mocking. "But in the end, you still underestimated the depth of my Deck, and overestimated the strength of your current field."
The moment he heard that, Chigami's brow locked tight, his heart skipping a beat as he stared at Yusaku.
Is this guy bluffing to scare me, or does he really have a way to break through my field?
As Chigami's thoughts wavered, Yusaku's cool voice rang out clearly again in the silent arena.
"I activate the effect of Swap Frog from my hand! I can discard 1 WATER monster other than it, and Special Summon this card from my hand!"
"I discard the WATER monster Ronintoadin from my hand, and Special Summon Swap Frog!"
With that declaration, a pale blue flash lit up the Duel Disk. A frog monster covered in dark green slime, its face marked with eerie rune-like patterns, leapt onto the field with a loud croak.

"Then I chain Swap Frog's effect! When this card is Normal Summoned, Flip Summoned, or Special Summoned, I can send 1 Level 2 or lower WATER Aqua monster from my Deck or from among the face-up monsters I control to the Graveyard!"
Yusaku pinched the card that popped from his Duel Disk's slot between two fingers and flicked his wrist downward.
"I choose to send Ronintoadin from my Deck to the Graveyard!"
The moment the card hit the Graveyard, Yusaku did not pause for even an instant.
"I activate Ronintoadin's effect in the Graveyard!"
"With this effect, while this card is in the Graveyard, I can banish 1 Frog monster from my Graveyard to Special Summon this card!"
"So I activate that effect, banish the Ronintoadin I just discarded, and Special Summon Ronintoadin!"
A burst of brilliant white light exploded on the field. A pale frog with a green leaf on its head and a straw stalk in its mouth slowly appeared, the same eerie symbol as Swap Frog marked across its belly.

The instant Ronintoadin landed, Yusaku swept his hand forward again.
"Next, I use Ronintoadin and Swap Frog on my field as Link Materials!"
"Link Summon! Link-2, Spright Sprind!"
"And I place it in the zone directly below Underworld Goddess of the Closed World's bottom-right Link Arrow!"
As soon as the words left his mouth, the two Frog monsters transformed into two dazzling beams of light, shot into the sky, and vanished into the Link Markers forming in midair. The two arrows lit up in succession.
A second later, a small figure radiating unmistakable danger slowly took shape in the center of the summoning circle.
A monster with four plate-like wings on its back, like satellite receivers, appeared on the field. Four cannons were mounted on its arms, their muzzles glowing with scorching crimson heat, while crackling red arcs of electricity wrapped around its entire body.
Spright Sprind

"I activate Spright Sprind's effect!"
Yusaku's voice rang across the arena.
"I can target 1 Level 2 monster in my Graveyard. If my opponent controls a monster, I can instead target a Rank 2 or Link-2 monster and Special Summon it!"
"Since you control a monster, I can target the Link-2 monster in my Graveyard - Moon of the Closed Heaven - and Special Summon it back to the field!"
The instant he finished speaking, a slender ray of light flew out of the Graveyard's black vortex. The pale girl in the black gothic dress appeared once more, standing silently on the field.

The moment Moon of the Closed Heaven returned, Yusaku raised his hand without hesitation.
"Next, I Link Summon using Moon of the Closed Heaven alone!"
"Link Summon! Link-1, Fiendsmith's Sequence!"
The girl's body dissolved into countless particles of light and flowed into the newly formed Link Circuit. The Link Arrow lit up at once.
A massive black mechanical coffin, engraved with intricate blood-red markings, slowly descended from the circuit. A chilling, sinister aura coiled around it, as if it could swallow all life itself.
Fiendsmith's Sequence

"Now I get it. That's the line."
"No joke, Fiendsmith really is absurd. Any Deck can run it."
As Fiendsmith's Sequence appeared on the field, the players in the stands started buzzing again.
But Yusaku's offensive did not slow in the slightest.
"I activate Fiendsmith's Sequence's effect! During either player's Main Phase, I can Tribute this card and Special Summon 1 Fiendsmith monster from my hand or Deck!"
"I activate that effect, Tribute Fiendsmith's Sequence, and Special Summon Lacrima the Crimson Tears from my Deck!"
The massive mechanical coffin dissolved into a shower of light. In the next instant, a succubus-like girl with a seductive figure and a faint red mist around her slowly stepped onto the field.
