Sharon stepped onto the treadmill, rolled her shoulders once, and began jogging at a steady pace.Ethan watched the monitors closely—heart rate, muscle output, energy fluctuation, oxygen levels—everything looked normal at first.

"Breathing steady… heart rate elevated but within expected range," he noted aloud. "Muscle efficiency slightly higher than baseline. Good."

After a minute, he slowly increased the speed.

Sharon didn't complain. In fact, she didn't even sound winded—her breathing stayed calm, controlled. She pushed her hair back once and kept going without slowing.

Ethan raised an eyebrow.

"Not tired yet?"

Sharon shook her head while running.

"Nope. Feels like my stamina got a boost."

"Looks like it," Ethan said, tapping a screen. "Your muscles are using less energy to do the same work as before—efficiency is up by at least twenty percent."

He increased the speed again, pushing her into a faster run.

Sharon's steps became louder, more forceful—each footfall made the treadmill platform vibrate slightly. The scanner readings shifted.

Energy absorption detected.

Ethan squinted at the data.

"…huh. You're absorbing some of the impact force from your own movements. It's not a lot, but enough to charge you slowly."

Sharon slowed down just a little, glancing at him.

"So I'm basically charging myself by running?"

"Kind of," Ethan said. "You're absorbing a small amount of kinetic energy every time you hit the ground. It's nowhere near enough to fire lasers again—"

Before he finished, Sharon's hair faintly brightened for a moment—just a quick pulse of light—then dimmed.

Ethan blinked.

"…Okay. Maybe just enough to make your hair glow."

Sharon groaned.

"Oh great. I'm a walking glowstick now."

Ethan shrugged, writing notes on his tablet.

"Look on the bright side—literally. At least now we know running charges you slowly. That means light activity won't trigger your beams… but heavy impact might."

Sharon stopped the treadmill and stepped off, wiping her forehead though she wasn't sweaty.

"So what's next?" she asked.

Ethan tapped his tablet once, looking up at her with a thoughtful expression.

"Strength test," he said. "Let's see how strong you've become."

Sharon flexed her fingers, smirked a little, and nodded.

"Alright. Bring it on."

Ethan walked her over to the strength-testing area. There was a reinforced metal block connected to weight sensors—basically a machine that measured how much force someone could apply with a punch.

"Okay," Ethan said, pointing at it. "Start with a normal punch. Don't go all out yet."

Sharon nodded, took a stance, and threw a straight punch.

THUD.

The machine beeped and displayed the number.

Ethan checked the screen."Alright… that's already higher than your previous max. Try a bit harder."

Sharon took a breath and punched again, this time with more force.

THUD!

The number jumped.

Ethan raised his eyebrows.

"Not bad. You just doubled your strength compared to before the infusion."

Sharon looked down at her fist, impressed.

"…That explains why the treadmill didn't feel tough."

"Yeah. And remember," Ethan reminded her, "you're still absorbing some of the force you generate yourself."

"Meaning?" Sharon asked.

"Meaning it's still not your max-strength punch," Ethan said. "You're holding yourself back without noticing."

Sharon frowned. "How do I stop that?"

Ethan thought for a moment."Hm… try closing your eyes."

She blinked. "That's it?"

"Closing your eyes helps you focus inward," Ethan said. "Now—don't think about strength. Just feel your whole body. How you breathe, how your muscles move, the way your heartbeat spreads energy through you."

Sharon nodded slowly."Okay… I can try that."

She took a breath, closed her eyes, and focused like he said.

"Good," Ethan said quietly. "Keep feeling it… and now punch. Don't rush—just let your body move."

Sharon stepped forward and punched the reinforced block.

THUD!

The impact was stronger than before—almost the same as her last big hit.She opened her eyes again.

"I felt it," she said, tapping her chest lightly. "I absorbed a bit of the energy… it went into my body, then I felt it in my head or hair."

Ethan nodded, impressed."Well, that was faster than I thought it would take you to understand."

"So, I'm a fast learner?" she smiled.

Ethan shrugged."Maybe. Or the infusion made it fully part of your body. It's like knowing how one of your own limbs moves—once you focus on it, you begin to understand how to use it."

Sharon scoffed lightly."You're just jealous I'm a fast learner."

Ethan looked at her for a second, wondering silently, Did the infusion also affect her personality? He didn't say the thought out loud.

"Alright then," he continued. "Now that you understand how it works, this time try adding the force to your fist while punching—channel it from your hair which is your storage unit now to your fist."

Sharon nodded. She closed her eyes, exhaled, then opened them with focus. She pulled her fist back and punched the reinforced block.

This time, as her fist shot forward, a faint purple glow flickered around her knuckles—so brief it was barely more than a spark.

A sharp boom echoed through the lab as her punch collided with the reinforced block.

The block didn't move at first—then a deep dent sank inward, nearly three times deeper than the mark she'd left before.

Sharon staggered a half-step back, eyes wide, her hair shifting slightly as if something inside it had just settled.

Ethan stared at the impact, eyebrows slowly rising.

"So, you can channel it into your fist too," Ethan said, nodding as he rubbed his chin."I think that earlier eye blast happened because you overloaded yourself. Either the energy needed a release point, or you just lost control for a moment."

Sharon tilted her head."So… you want to overload me again now?"

"Kinda," Ethan replied with a nod. "I want to see what happens if you try to control it while overloaded. Plus, I also need to figure out your limit before you overload."

She nodded back slowly."Hmm… alright. Just tell me what to do."

"Nothing complicated," Ethan said. "I'll shoot at you again, and you absorb the energy—but this time, try to control it. Okay?"

Sharon nodded, rolling her shoulders once.

"Alright. I'm ready."
