Ethan went to the side cabinet and took out the modified gun loaded with rubber bullets.

He checked the safety once, then stepped back to give them both some space.

"Same rule as before," Ethan said. "Don't try to blast anything. Just absorb it and hold it."

He also activated the blue energy shield on his wrist watch. A thin barrier formed in front of him like a transparent wall.

Sharon noticed and raised an eyebrow.

"You don't have to stand behind a shield, you know. I'm not blasting anything this time."

"It's just a precaution in case you lose control again," Ethan replied. He held the gun steady with one hand and kept the shield active with the other. "Ready?"

"I'm ready."

Ethan fired.

BANG.

The bullet hit Sharon in the chest again, as she didn't move at all. Her hair glowed faint purple for a moment as the kinetic energy was absorbed into her body.

Ethan checked his tablet quickly.

"Good. No release. No leakage."

He fired again.

BANG.

BANG.

BANG.

BANG.

With each shot, her hair brightened a little, then settled. The bullets bounced off her body and dropped to the floor after losing all their force. Sharon stayed completely still, breathing steady.

After the sixth shot, she lifted her hand slightly.

"Okay. Stop for a moment. I think I'm close to overloaded."

Ethan lowered the gun.

"Tell me when you're ready again."

Sharon nodded, closed her eyes, and took a slow, deep breath. Her hair dimmed just a bit as she stabilized the energy inside her body.

"Alright. Go on," she said.

Ethan raised the gun again and fired another set of shots.

BANG. BANG. BANG. BANG. BANG. BANG.

Sharon absorbed all six without flinching. Her hair glowed bright at the last one, but there was still no eye-beam and no release. She opened her eyes and exhaled calmly.

"I can take more," she said. "As long as I keep control."

Ethan looked at the readings and nodded slowly.

"Yeah… you really can."

"But for safety lets stop here" he added.

Ethan lowered the gun and walked closer, keeping an eye on her hair in case it suddenly flashed again.

"How much energy do you think you're holding right now? Does it feel full?" he asked.

Sharon thought for a moment.

"A lot. My chest feels warm, like there's pressure inside. Not painful… just full."

Ethan nodded.

"That matches the readings. You're close to the point where your body will force a release if you add more."

Sharon looked at her hands, opening and closing her fists.

"So the next step is learning how to release it without losing control, right?"

"Exactly," Ethan said. "You need to let some of the energy out, but not all of it at once. Like opening a valve slowly instead of blowing up a tank."

Sharon raised an eyebrow.

"You could've just said 'don't explode.'"

Ethan sighed.

"I'm trying to sound smart here."

Sharon smirked but nodded.

"Alright. How do I release it?"

Ethan pointed to the reinforced block she used earlier for punching.

"Try hitting that again, but this time push a little of the stored energy into your fist. Not everything—just enough to lower the pressure."

Sharon took a breath and walked over to the block. Her hair continued to glow from the stored energy.

"Remember," Ethan said, standing a few meters back, shield still ready.

"Slow release. You decide the amount."

"though keep it as small as possible" He added.

Sharon set her stance, focused, and pulled her fist back.

For a moment, her hair brightened just a little—like a warning light.

Then she punched.

THUD!

The sound was louder than her normal punch but not as explosive as before. The block dented again, but only halfway as deep as last time.

Her hair dimmed slightly barely noticeable.

Sharon looked at her hand.

"I moved the energy in my fist just like last time, but this time just a part of it."

Ethan checked the tablet readings and smiled a little.

"That was perfect."

Sharon looked at him.

"So now what? More practice?"

Ethan nodded.

"Yeah. We'll work on smaller releases until you can control it more on instinct. Once that becomes natural, we'll test your movement while charged."

Sharon glanced at the wall clock and her eyes widened.

"Yeah… but let's go to sleep for now. You have court tomorrow, remember? It's already two in the morning."

Ethan followed her gaze and blinked.

"Damn. I didn't even notice the time."

She stretched her arms and said.

"Also, lets empty me, after all we don't know if we can keep the energy inside me safely. And I doubt you want me walking around with glowing purple hair all the time."

Ethan chuckled.

"Yeah, fair point."

Sharon tilted her head.

"So, how do I release all this energy safely? By punching?"

"Through your eyes," Ethan answered. "Laser eyes-style. That way I can also check if using your eyes gets any damage or strain while using the laser eyes, though the chances of that is low."

Sharon nodded slowly.

"Okay. I think I can do that. I can easily guide it my eyes easily."

Ethan guided her into another testing room—larger, reinforced walls, high ceiling.

"Alright," he said, pointing to a large metal sphere placed on a pedestal in the center of the room. "Aim at that target. It'll take whatever you throw at it."

Sharon looked at it.

"What is that thing?"

"Think of it as an energy sink," Ethan replied. "If you fire at it, it'll safely neutralize whatever you release."

Sharon nodded, stepping forward and taking a stance.

Ethan, meanwhile, activated the energy sink—the capacitors taken from the Slaughterspine of the Horizon universe.

He could build an entire Slaughterspine if he wanted to, but for now he had just put together this section to safely test Sharon's laser eyes and store the released energy for later analysis.

"Okay, you can fire now," Ethan said, stepping back a little.

Sharon nodded and took position. A moment later, twin beams of purple energy burst from her eyes and slammed into the sphere. The force of the recoil snapped her head backward, the beam wobbling as her focus slipped.

The laser began whipping around uncontrollably, striking the walls and ceiling before she managed to drag it back toward the target.
