Linda walked through the palace corridors again and again, her small rabbit form moving across floors that felt far too wide for her.
Everything in this building was made for creatures larger than humans, let alone a rabbit.
The ceilings were high, the doors enormous, and the long halls stretched endlessly before her.
She was looking for Gaffer.
Every person she met along the way—beast servants, beast guards, beast attendants—she stopped them and asked. She tried to describe Gaffer as best as she could.
When that did not work, she tried asking something else. "Is the king around?", "Did the king walk pas here?"
The servants only looked at her strangely, as if wondering if she was alright.
None of them had seen the king. The king was not around. And clearly, they had no idea about the fact that Gaffer had secretly come there.
Eventually Linda reached a large door that led outside.
