Chapter 77 – Back at the Hotel
Vaggie then placed her hand over her left eye, now able to see again, and smiled softly as she said with genuine gratitude in her voice:
— Thank you for this. I'll take good care of your gift.
Razan smiled warmly and replied:
— Yes, I know you'll take good care of it.
Charlie smiled brightly, her eyes shining with affection, and said:
— You know, I'm the happiest person in the world for having you both in my life.
Razan gently caressed her face with his hand and said in a soft, sincere tone:
— Yes, I'm also very happy to have you both in my life. I'm a very lucky guy for managing to find happiness in Hell, right, Vaggie?
Vaggie smiled tenderly and caressed Charlie's hair with care while saying:
— Yes, we were really lucky.
They were having that happy and intimate moment together when a loud explosion suddenly echoed from below. They then heard screams and quickly looked down from the building, where Angel, Niffty, and the other guests were causing chaos — exploding things and shooting everywhere in a wild frenzy.
Razan smiled calmly and said with a hint of amusement:
— Looks like they're working well as a team.
Charlie looked at the scene below, smiled tiredly, and said with a mix of fondness and exhaustion:
— It would just be nicer if it wasn't so violent.
Vaggie smiled and said in a more optimistic tone:
— It's true, but look on the bright side: they've already taken the first step. They're starting to not hate each other so much.
Razan nodded in agreement and said thoughtfully:
— That's true. For a place like Hell, stopping hating each other is already big progress. So, Charlie, you don't need to be in such a hurry. You have to understand that people's change is a gradual process that takes time. Trying to rush that process can end up getting in the way of your plans even more.
Charlie, hearing this, took a deep breath and calmed down a little. She then looked at them with a more composed expression and said:
— Alright, I'll try to calm down a bit. It's just that now, with only a few months until the extermination, I have to hurry because I don't want them to die. But I know now: if I try to rush too much, I might make even more mistakes.
Charlie then smiled warmly and looked at Razan and Vaggie:
— That's why I need your help.
Razan smiled reassuringly and said:
— You can relax. I'll help you. You're not alone.
Vaggie smiled and said with affection:
— Yes, love. I said I would help you make your dream come true, right? So you can always count on me.
Charlie smiled happily and said with emotion in her voice:
— Yes, thank you so much, both of you. I love you both very much.
Angel, who managed to climb up dragging himself with visible effort, shouted from the side:
— Sorry for interrupting your lovely moment there, but some help would be very welcome here.
Razan stood up and said casually:
— Sorry, I'm already coming to help you.
On the other side, at the meeting building, Zestial and Carmilla Carmine entered a private room. She then filled a glass with a drink and drank it slowly, trying to compose herself.
Zestial looked at her with concern and asked:
— What's wrong? What happened? Losing your composure isn't your style.
Carmilla Carmine sighed heavily and said:
— It's nothing, Zestial.
Zestial pressed gently:
— That angel — you were the one who killed it, weren't you?
Carmilla Carmine said firmly:
— I don't want to talk about it.
Odette, who was present, said quietly:
— Mom, he should know.
Carmilla Carmine slammed her fist on the table with restrained anger and said:
— No one should know anything. I did what was necessary. This matter dies here.
Zestial said calmly but seriously:
— If you managed to achieve the feat of killing an angel, why not show Hell your talents?
Carmilla Carmine replied with determination:
— No. I did what was necessary to save those I love. No one else needs to know that I killed an angel. I can't create a war that will take everything from me. Never.
Outside the building, Alastor waited patiently for the little egg. When it finally came down in the elevator, Alastor approached with his usual grin and asked:
— So, what did you hear, little oval creature?
The little egg looked up and said excitedly:
— Boss, they said they can't lose and that she killed the angel.
Alastor smiled broadly and said with clear intrigue:
— Wait, what did you say? That she killed an angel?
The little egg confirmed:
— Yes, boss. She said she killed an angel.
Alastor smiled even wider and said with a dangerous glint in his eyes:
— Interesting... very interesting.
He then smiled in a threatening manner and said:
— This stays between us, understood?
The little egg nodded quickly:
— Yes, boss.
Alastor said satisfied:
— Very good. Then let's go.
He said while heading toward the hotel with a spring in his step.
