Inside the office, Annabelle's eyes were focused on the screen of the computer when a knock had her lifting her graze briefly.
"Come in," she said.
The door opened, and Carla entered. "You called, Madam," she said, her tone polite and professional.
"Have you had your lunch?" Annabelle asked, and Carla frowned but still nodded.
"...Yes, Madam," she replied. After a pause, she asked, "Is there anything you need me to do?"
"I will be leaving a meeting soon," Annabelle began, lifting her head briefly to meet Carla's gaze. "I do not have an assistant or secretary here, so I would appreciate it if you'd accompany me."
Carla blinked but only for a moment. A small smile formed on her lips, and she nodded softly, "I will make the arrangement," she said, her smile still intact.
