Chapter 151 - Chunin Exams #10

Konohagakure No Sato :

Forest OF Death :

Team 7 :

"—Battle for the scrolls."

As soon as the words left the kunoichi's lips, the air in the clearing became viscous. It was a suffocating, physical pressure that felt like being submerged in freezing oil.

"Huh?" Sasuke gasped.

"Eh?" Sakura's voice hitched, dying in her throat.

Sasuke and Sakura were coiled, ready for a fight, but the sheer scale of the kunoichi's aggressiveness caught them off guard. Sasuke already had a kunai gripped tight, his knuckles white, but before Sakura could even reach for her pouch or Sasuke could trigger his Sharingan, the world shifted.

Suddenly, they weren't in the clearing anymore. They were feeling themselves being torn apart. Visions of their own bodies being shredded flashed behind their eyes—severed limbs spinning through the air, kunai burying themselves deep into soft tissue, and the hot, metallic scent of their own blood painting the forest floor.

Then came the final strike: the sensation of cold steel piercing through their skulls.

The twelve-year-old Kids dropped. Sasuke and Sakura both hit the dirt, their mouths agape and eyes wide with a primal terror that bypassed logic.

Sasuke fought to compose himself, his mind screaming against the nightmare.

(A Genjutsu?!)

But before he could even attempt to disrupt his chakra flow, a second wave of pressure slammed into him, this one focused entirely on his position.

"Blergh!" Sasuke doubled over, trying to heave, but nothing came out. He scrambled backward on his knees, his breath coming in ragged, shallow stabs. He looked up at the kunoichi through blurred vision.

(No, that's not it... this isn't a technique. This is just raw thirst for blood. Killing intent... like Zabuza's, but on a completely different level. Just looking at her, I feel like I'm already dying...)

The woman stood there with a terrifyingly indifferent expression. The most noticeable things about her were the purple rope ribbon tied around her waist and those creepy eyes that focused on him.

(Who is this woman?!)

*Sniff*... *sniff*...

The sound of soft, wet sobbing broke through Sasuke's internal panic. He glanced to his side.

"Sa... Sakura?"

Sakura was completely broken. She was on her knees, leaning forward with her palms flat against the dirt, staring at nothing. Tears were leaking constantly from her wide, unblinking eyes, dripping onto the grass below.

Seeing her in that state—and feeling his own limbs shaking like leaves—Sasuke reached a grim conclusion.

(It's not good... we have no choice but to flee. If we stay, the only thing waiting for us is...)

He looked forward again, still pinned to the ground by the weight of the air. Just as he tried to muster the courage to even stand, the kunoichi spoke.

"Can't move? Already?"

Hearing those calm, mocking words, Sasuke gritted his teeth so hard they ached. Shaking violently, he reached for his weapon pouch. He forced his muscles to respond, fighting the biological urge to play dead.

(Move, move, move... otherwise, you're gonna die!)

Slowly, agonizingly, Sasuke managed to pull out a kunai. He forced himself to his feet, his knees knocking together as he leveled the blade at her. The kunoichi simply smiled, her amusement growing.

"Ho? And what do you intend to do with that?"

She smirked, casually drawing two kunai of her own. She began to walk toward him, her pace playful and rhythmic, a predator closing in on a cornered rabbit.

"Don't worry. I will end this in a second... you won't have the time to feel pain."

The kunoichi came closer, her shadow stretching over them as she lifted her hand in a smooth, throwing motion.

"I wanted you to entertain me more. It's too bad."

With a casual flick of her wrist, she sent the two kunai whistling through the air, aimed directly at the centers of Sasuke and Sakura's foreheads.

Tean 8 :

After ten minutes of relentless tree-hopping, Team 8 finally decelerated as they reached a small clearing , not because they were tired but simply because they the objective of the exam was not just to reach The Central Tower but also to collect the other scroll .

The squad—Inuzuka Kiba, Aburame Shino, and Hyuga Hinata—came to a synchronized halt on the thick branches surrounding the opening.

Kiba spoke first, glancing over at Hinata.

" Ok , First we search for that thing , Can you do it , Hinata "

"Yes," Hinata whispered. Her hands came together in front of her chest, fingers weaving into a precise seal. "Byakugan!"

The veins around her temples bulged as her vision expanded, piercing through solid wood and dense foliage for kilometers in every direction.

Before Hinata can speak , Kiba continued

" Anyway , The tower is the Goal for everyone right ? "

" what do you mean Kiba ? "Shino asked, his voice characteristically level.

" Listen Shino , Wouldn't it be clever for us to make a trap in the vicinity of the tower "

"...ano" Hinata started, trying to cut in

Before Hinata can complete her sentence, Akamaru—perched firmly on Kiba's head—let out a sharp whimper, his nose twitching frantically. Kiba's own ears perked up, his pupils narrowing into slits as he scanned the perimeter.

" Oh ... Not wasting any time ...huh ?"

But Before Kiba could move , Shino simply communicated with his bugs and some dark shadows started falling from the tree canopy above the hidden enemy team .

Before The enemies could comprehend what happened , The shadows stuck inside their cloths and soon the Three Enemy Genins twitched and fell from the trees .

Kiba and Hinata watched them hit the forest floor with a collective wince.

" As Sneaky as ever Shino " Kiba Muttered

" ....N..Nice Job , Shino-kun " Hinata added Softly

One of the enemy shinobi wobbled on the ground, gasping for air. "How...? We were hidden..."

Hearing this KIba smirked and spoke

"Heh. Tracking a tracker team? How stupid can you get? Knowing how guys like you behave, of course we'd set a trap."

" .....Dam...n i---'

" AAAARGHHHHHH " X3

The three pitiful Genin didn't get to finish their sentence. A concealed capture net, hidden beneath the fallen leaves on the forest floor, suddenly snapped shut. It hoisted all three of them into the air, dangling them like a fresh catch from a sturdy branch.

Kiba laughed. "Hehe, that's one team down."

"Let's see if we get the scroll," Shino said, stepping toward the hanging net.

Hinata looked at the trapped Genin and thought, ( Poor things...)

------------------------

Team Guy :

Despite being more than 35 minutes since the start of the exam , Team Guy was still travelling through the forest , no They were not Just Travelling , They were moving at full speed , And the Reason for that

" Slow DOWN , Lee , We just started "

Yes, Ten-ten and Neji were cursing their hot-bloodded TEam-mate who was going faster and faster without a hint of stopping .

Lee was a green blur ahead of them, his speed increasing with every passing second. He seemed to have entirely forgotten about scroll retrieval or tactical pacing.

Hearing Neji's similar reprimands for the third time, Lee felt the rush of the wind against his face and hair. He adjusted his weight mid-air and replied with a clenched, passionate fist.

"I know! BUT... I simply cannot remain still!"

Both Tenten and Neji focused, pushing their own speeds to keep up. Despite Lee's lack of ninjutsu and genjutsu, they both acknowledged him as a formidable peer.

After a year of grueling missions and training under Guy-sensei, they knew better than anyone the sheer mountain of hard work Lee had climbed to get here. Even Neji, who stood at the top of their year, respected Lee's tenacity in his own quiet way.

Lee continued, his voice thick with excitement. "Who knows what kind of powerful foe is waiting for us out there!"

" Who Knows what kind of powerful foe is waiting for us "

Hearing Lee's words that were filled with excitement , Neji and Ten-ten both felt surprised and smiled , Neji spoke with a huff while wearing a small smile

" Hot-Blooded Fool ...."

Team 10 :

While other teams were hunting or sprinting, Team 10 was taking a much more... cautious approach. They moved silently through the underbrush, Shikamaru leading the way, Ino guarding the center, and Choji bringing up the rear.

But their "stealth" didn't last long.

*Crinkle/Crackle:*

The sound of rustling foil echoed through the silent woods. Both Shikamaru and Ino froze, their heads whipping back in bewilderment.

" W...What are you doing , Choji ?? " Ino hissed

Choji Akimichi was sitting cross-legged in the grass, unbothered, as he ripped open a fresh bag of potato chips. He looked back at them with total sincerity.

" Just a Little Break .....I am already tired and Hungry "

*crunch*

" You stupid Chubby , just what are you suddenly saying ?? Haa? " Ino's whisper-yell was lethal.

Shikamaru walked back, scratching his messy hair in exasperation. "It hasn't even been five minutes since we started!"

Choji whined through a mouthful of chips. "But I can't help it! I'm hungry!"

Shikamaru stared at the bag for a second, then let out a heavy sigh. "So, just how many snacks did you bring???"

".....Huh?? "

Seeing Choji's confused expression, Shikamaru reached out and snatched a handful of chips from the bag. He began munching on them himself. "Teamwork, Choji. From now on, these are official Team Provisions."

"Huh??? NO WAY...!!!"

Ino didn't hesitate either. She reached in and grabbed her own handful. Choji watched in horror as his friends suddenly became hungrier than he was. Cold sweat dripped down his forehead.

(At this rate, my entire stash will be gone... no way...)

In the middle of the lighthearted teasing, Ino's ears twitched. Her senses caught a subtle movement nearby . Ino alerted Shikamaru a second later, her eyes sharpening.

Thinking fast, Shikamaru took the chips in his hand and scattered them across the ground in the opposite direction of their intended hiding spot. Only after laying the false trail did he and Ino grab Choji by the arms and dive into a nearby thicket, dragging him out of sight.

Shikamaru clamped a hand over Choji's mouth to stifle his protests, while Ino expanded her sensory focus.

Moments later, an enemy team dropped from the trees, landing exactly where Team 10 had just been sitting. The rival Genin looked around, their eyes landing on the scattered chip crumbs on the ground.

"Look at this , They were here."

"Eh, I found some over here too."

"Let's give chase!"

"Hm."

As the enemy team hurried away following the false lead, Shikamaru let out a long, weary sigh of relief in the bushes.

(This kind of thing continuing for five days...? What a drag.)

Sensing the threat fading into the distance, Ino whispered to Shikamaru, "I kind of get that we should hide first, but they were weak. We could have gone for the scroll, you know."

Hearing Ino ,Shikamaru leaned back & spoke lazily

"But I don't wanna fight this early."

Ino sighed, speechless at the Nara's lack of motivation. "But if we had gotten their scroll, we could have headed directly for the tower instead of wandering in this forest for five days!.....Comfort and Food "

The clearing went silent as the weight of that logic hit them.

Choji was the first to speak.

"So.... I could have eaten better food after reaching the tower??"

"....And I could have lazed around for the rest of the time ??" Shikamaru added, his eyes widening.

Seeing them Catching up , Ino spoke with amusement

" Yup , smarty pants , Glutton "

"..."

"Are they still in your senses, Ino?" Shikamaru asked, his tone suddenly much more serious.

"Yup. They're looking for clues, but they're still around 100 meters away."

"So troublesome..... let's go."

"....FOOD "

Team 10 assembled with a new sense of purpose: a Nara determined to laze around, an Akimichi fueled by the promise of a real meal, and a kunoichi who had successfully manipulated them both from the shadows.

Ino watched them move and chuckled to herself. (Heh.... so easy.)

--------------------------------------------

Team Hattori :

Team Hattori—comprising Goda Gian, Minamoto Shizuka, and Uzumaki Karin—traversed the dense undergrowth at a modest, Modest pace. They weren't rushing like Team Guy, nor were they as lethargic as Team 10. They moved with efficiency, eventually finding a defensible spot to regroup.

As they touched down on a sturdy limb, the team instinctively fell into a protective formation. Gian and Shizuka stood back-to-back, their eyes scanning the perimeter for any signs of movement, while Karin remained safely in the center, shielded by her teammates.

Shizuka was the first to speak, her voice low and steady. "Karin."

"On it," Karin replied instantly.

She adjusted her glasses and closed her eyes, expanding her sensory perception. Instead of pushing for maximum distance, she tightened her focus to a one-kilometer radius, filtering out the ambient noise of the forest to find the specific "flickers" of human chakra.

Unlike Naruto , Karin Needed time to focus when Using Kagura's mind eye , and that focus can't be inturrupted , and this focus also makes her vulnerable to enemies too .

Under Hattori's and Naruto's care , Karin is still learning to use it effectively .

(Hmm... two teams,) Karin noted internally.

After a few seconds of deep analysis, she opened her eyes and reported. "Eleven o'clock. There's a team with relatively weak chakra signatures. There's also another at the seventeen o'clock position—their chakra is significantly stronger, though still not on our level."

Gian huffed at the report, his fingers twitching toward his weapon pouch, but he held his tongue. Despite his hotheaded nature, he knew who was the Team-Leader in this Team and in this environment .

Shizuka took a quiet breath, her tactical mind weighing the options.

"We'll take out the weak team first," she decided. "If they don't have the scroll we need, then we'll rotate toward the stronger targets."

She paused for a beat, ensuring everyone was on the same page. Karin gave a sharp nod, then turned to lead the way. Shizuka moved to her flank, maintaining her line of sight, while Gian took up the rear, his back turned to them to ensure no one could sneak up on their retreat.

The three moved out, a silent hunting party sliding through the shadows toward their first mark.

-------------------------------------------------

Team 7 :

*Splat*

A heavy drop of blood hit the forest floor.

Sasuke and Sakura vanished from their positions, leaving only the crimson stain behind. The Kunoichi walked forward, her leisurely pace unbroken. She looked down at the blood on the ground, then glanced at the tree trunk ahead where her two thrown kunai remained embedded, vibrating slightly from the force of the impact.

"Ho. Not bad," the Kunoichi murmured.

Her Dead-fish eyes slowly drifted upward, locking onto a specific branch high in the canopy.

(Wounding himself at the very last moment,)

she thought, a smirk twisting her lips. She replayed the Uchiha's movements in her mind. He had broken her killing intent by stabbing himself in the thigh, activating his Sharingan through the sheer shock of the pain, scooping up his paralyzed teammate, and fleeing.

(Overcoming fear with pain...)

The Kunoichi stepped up to the tree trunk and pulled one of her kunai free. Her grotesquely long tongue slithered out, licking the blade completely clean in one wet stroke.

*Slurp*

(Hehehe... not an average prey... Uchiha.)

High above, hidden in the dense leaves, Sakura sat on a thick branch, trembling violently. "Sasuke-kun..."

She watched in horror as Sasuke sat beside her, his breath ragged. The kunai was still buried deep in his thigh, blood steadily dripping down his leg and soaking his bandages. Sasuke completely ignored her. With a sharp exhale, he gripped the handle and ripped the blade free. A fresh spurt of blood followed.

Sakura gasped, leaning in worriedly. "Sasuke-kun... are yo—"

Sasuke's eyes snapped toward her, wide with a frantic, fear. For the second time that day, his bloodied hand clamped hard over her mouth, muffling her voice. He didn't say a word. He just stared back the way they had come, his mind racing at a million miles an hour.

(If we don't flee fast, we'll be discovered here too.... But how do we flee? How do we escape From someone like that?!)

Sakura stared at him, her heart pounding against her ribs. (I have never seen Sasuke-kun like this... so worked up,..)

Her thoughts were violently interrupted as a massive shadow fell over her.

Sakura's eyes darted to the side, widening in absolute terror. Rearing up right beside them on the branch was a giant, mottled snake, its jaws unhinged. Sasuke was still looking backward, completely unaware of the threat looming inches away.

Sakura violently ripped Sasuke's hand away from her mouth. "Sasuke-kun, SNAKE!"

Sasuke whipped his head around, his Sharingan blazing to life. They both threw themselves backward off the branch just as the massive serpent lunged, its fangs splintering the wood where they had been sitting a split second prior.

Falling backward through the air, Sasuke saw the snake coil and launch itself off the branch, diving straight for him.

Looking at the unblinking, reptilian eyes of the beast, Sasuke felt that same suffocating pressure he had felt from the Kunoichi. Pure panic seized his chest.

"Don't come near me!!!" Sasuke roared.

Mid-air, he reached into his pouch and hurled a dense, frantic barrage of kunai and shuriken directly down the snake's open gullet. The projectiles shredded the inside of the serpent's mouth, burying themselves deep into its skull and spine.

*HISSSS!*

The giant snake thrashed wildly before collapsing limply onto a lower branch, dead. Sasuke landed heavily on a nearby limb, huffing for air, his chest heaving.

*Crack.*

Sasuke's Sharingan widened in horror.

A wet, sickening tearing sound echoed from the dead snake. The flesh at the nape of the serpent's neck split open. Covered in blood and viscous slime, the Kunoichi crawled out of the dead beast's flesh. Her dark hair fell wetly in front of her face, and her obscenely long tongue hung loose, almost touching her chin.

"You shouldn't lower your guard like that," the Kunoichi hissed playfully. "But this is okay. Always staying tense... desperate to flee at any moment... a very appropriate choice when faced with a predator."

Before Sasuke could react, her lower body seemingly stretched and slithered across the branch at a terrifying, unnatural pace.

Sasuke immediately dipped into his pouch, throwing three shuriken in a wide arc to cut off her path.

Thud. Thud. Thud.

She weaved through them effortlessly, closing the distance. Sasuke kicked off the branch, keeping the gap between them. His mind, sharpened by months of Kakashi's brutal lessons and Naruto's unpredictable pranks, began to analyze the situation with cold clarity.

(This woman.... her goal isn't the Heaven or Earth Scroll.)

Sasuke realized it instantly. If she just wanted the scrolls, she could have slaughtered him and Sakura in the clearing without a second thought. But she was playing with him. Testing him. He was terrified because her killing intent was too much, but beneath that terror, his tactical mind was screaming the truth.

Landing on a new branch and maintaining his distance, Sasuke spoke, his voice trembling but defiant. "You don't want the scrolls. Right?"

"Sasuke-kun!" Sakura cried out from the sidelines, horrified that he was actually trying to converse with the monster.

The Kunoichi, mid-slither, stopped dead. She slowly turned her head, looking into Sasuke's spinning red eyes. Her own eyes widened in manic glee, her tongue rolling out.

"SUBARASHII.....! ....That is correct. I just want to Slaughter you like a pig .... Hehe."

Hearing that pure, psychotic laughter—the absolute confirmation that she viewed him as nothing more than an insect to be crushed for entertainment—Sasuke felt the terror spike again.

Escape was impossible.

Begging was useless.

No one was coming to save him.

And from that absolute despair, a singular, burning desire to survive erupted from his core .

( I want To Live )

and that desire sparked a memory .

A Bitter memory flashed behind his eyes.

(You foolish little brother. If you want to kill me..... resent me, hate me, than..... continue to live your ugly life.)

Sasuke's eyes snapped open. The fear bled out of him, replaced by a cold, searing rage. He wasn't going to run anymore. Since all roads led to death, he made his choice.

He would FIGHT.

The Kunoichi stared into his Sharingan. Beyond the spinning tomoe, she saw a shift. She saw the familiar, unbreakable will of shinobis in war —the decision to burn away everything until the very last breath.

( As expected of an Uchiha... his blood has finally begun to stir,) she thought, a genuine smile forming.

(Let's take my time to test him..... for real this time.)

A thin ray of sunlight pierced through the canopy, illuminating Sasuke's bruised and bloody form. Sakura felt the sudden, drastic shift in the atmosphere.

"Sasuke-kun..." Sakura whispered,

(....just what is this nuisance doing )

Sasuke completely ignored her. The nuisance hadn't tried to flee, hadn't tried to call for Naruto, and was currently just sitting there, uselessly watching him. She didn't matter right now.

( In the end , I will just do this Myself )

He drew a kunai, biting down hard on the handle. His two-tomoe Sharingan spun wildly.

( I HAVE TO LIVE... so I can kill that Man .....! That's what I thought before... but it seems I was being stupid!)

Sasuke crouched lower, his muscles coiling like springs.

(How can someone who can't even put his life on the line in a place like this..... EVER beat that man?!)

The Kunoichi smirked, reading the absolute resolve in Sasuke's eyes.

Sasuke exploded forward. He launched himself off the branch, hurtling straight at her. Mid-air, his hands blurred over his pouches, throwing a blindingly fast spread of shuriken.

Swish! Swish! Swish! Swish! Swish!

The Kunoichi barely moved. She tilted her head and swayed her torso, letting the hyper-fast blades whistle past her by millimeters. But the shuriken were just a distraction. Sasuke landed heavily on the branch directly above her, immediately kicking off it to drop down right on top of her head.

"HAAAA!" Sasuke roared, dropping a brutal axe-kick toward her face.

The Kunoichi casually raised a single hand, parrying the bone-crushing strike with terrifying ease. Sasuke didn't stop. He immediately transitioned into a relentless, high-speed Taijutsu assault. He threw everything he had—jabs, elbows, knees, sweeping kicks.

Feeling every single one of his strikes effortlessly deflected, Sasuke jumped back and threw another kunai. The Kunoichi dodged, but Sasuke used the weapon's blind spot to close the distance again, initiating a second Taijutsu bout.

This time, his Sharingan was pushed to its absolute limit.

Low kick.

Sweep.

Left hook.

High kick.

Roundhouse.

Right uppercut.

Despite being hopelessly outmatched in physical specs, Sasuke's eyes saw every counter coming. He parried, dodged, and deflected her blows by the skin of his teeth, his body moving with desperate perfection.

(Not bad at all,) the Kunoichi thought, genuinely impressed.

She smirked and suddenly leaped over him. Sasuke spun around, but she was already accelerating, moving as a blur around him in a dizzying, three-dimensional assault.

Left.

Up.

Right.

Down.

Above the branches.

Below them.

Sasuke's Sharingan spun furiously. He kept his own movements minimal, tracking her phantom-like speed solely with his eyes. Finally, he caught her trajectory—she was dropping down from directly above him with a vicious heel kick.

Sasuke leaped backward, his hands blurring through hand seals.

[ Fire Release: Phoenix Sage Fire Technique! ]

He spat a volley of small, controlled fireballs. They rained down, blanketing the area around the Kunoichi. Knowing she would dodge, Sasuke instantly chained his seals together, firing a massive Great Fireball directly into the center of her escape route.

BOOM!

"Sasuke-kun!" Sakura cheered. Now nothing more than an audience member to the unfolding violence and having the first seat to this live-action movie with her favourite Hero Sasuke-kun.

Sasuke ignored the pink nuisance, his eyes glued to the smoke-filled crater. Unease gnawed at him. Suddenly, the splintered wood beneath his feet exploded upward. A mound of earth and bark shot toward him. Sasuke leaped back just as a hand ripped through the branch, swiping exactly where his ankles had been a millisecond prior.

"Sasuke-kun!" Sakura screamed again.

The Kunoichi pulled herself up from the wood, dusting herself off. She looked at Sasuke, who had landed perfectly in a calm, balanced stance.

(It's quite good. Foretelling my movements, aiming that jutsu with absolute certainty..... he can truly see it all. Hehe.)

Without warning, the Kunoichi raised both of her hands and swung them down violently.

A localized hurricane erupted, a massive blast of wind tearing toward Sasuke.

Sasuke leaped high into the air to avoid it, watching in shock as the thick branch he had just been standing on was utterly pulverized into sawdust.

(A jutsu?! But she didn't use any seals!)

Before he could process the impossibility, the Kunoichi was suddenly right in front of him mid-air. She swung a casual fist. The blow connected solidly with his chest, launching him backward through the air like a ragdoll.

"Sasuke-kun!"

The Kunoichi ignored the constantly screaming girl and looked down at her own fist with a frown.

(A substitution?)

With a puff of smoke, the "Sasuke" she had hit reverted into a wooden log. From the flurry of shuriken Sasuke had dropped earlier, the real Sasuke materialized. He tackled her around the waist, and together, they plummeted off the tree.

Falling fast, Sasuke locked his arms around her waist, restricting her movements, and twisted his body to pile-drive her headfirst into a thick branch below.

Crack!

The branch splintered upon impact. But Sasuke wasn't done. The moment they hit, he slapped a paper bomb onto her back and violently kicked off her, putting distance between them.

As he sailed backward, he caught a glimpse of her face literally melting off.

BOOM!

The paper bomb detonated, engulfing the branch in flames. But Sasuke remembered that melting face.

(Another substitution!)

*Smack!*

"Sasuke-kun!"

Sasuke tried to turn, but a fist slammed into the side of his face with force. He heard Sakura's useless screaming again as his body was sent flying, crashing brutally into a tree trunk before collapsing onto a branch.

The Kunoichi stepped out of the shadows, slowly walking toward his crumpled form. She looked down at him, lying helplessly near her feet.

"STOP IT..!! SASUKE-KUN!" Sakura shrieked from above.

The Kunoichi's eye twitched in profound annoyance, but she kept her gaze locked on Sasuke.

"How pathetic.... The Uchiha clan must be celebrating that they didn't live to witness this.... Worm."

As she took one final step toward him, the tree bark directly beneath her feet exploded.

Sasuke's eyes snapped open , It was a basic, Academy-tier cloth camouflage jutsu. Sasuke had hidden a small cluster of Mini paper bombs right next to where he had purposely allowed himself to be knocked down. He had bet everything that she wouldn't just kill him from afar—that she would come close to mock him.

AND now , He won the bet.

The point-blank explosion blew the Kunoichi off balance, throwing her backward. Sasuke instantly sprang up, ignoring his screaming muscles, and leaped high into the air with everything he had left.

Mid-air, he threw a massive volley of shurikens

When the Kunoichi recovered her balance and looked up, she realized the shuriken weren't aimed at her. They were flying around her. Glinting in the limited sunlight was the razor-thin reflection of ninja wire attached to the blades.

"This is.... the Sharingan Windmill Triple Attack!" she realized, genuine shock in her voice.

The shuriken dug deep into the trunk behind her, pulling the wires taut. Sasuke landed, gripped the ends of the wire in his teeth, and gave a violent, full-body twist. The Kunoichi was instantly bound tightly against the thick tree trunk, completely immobilized.

Sasuke didn't hesitate. He held the wires taut with his mouth, stabilizing them, and rapidly wove his final hand seals.

[ Fire Release: Dragon Fire Technique! ]

Sasuke spat a stream of Orange-hot, draconic flames. The fire caught the ninja wire, traveling down the metal lines like a fuse directly toward the bound Kunoichi. The flames crashed into her with explosive force.

"ARRHHH!"

The forest lit up with Heat and screams .

Soon, the fire died down, leaving the entire section of the tree trunk—and the Kunoichi pinned to it—charred black and smoking.

Sasuke dropped to his knees, bracing his hands against the wood as he gasped for air.

"Huff.... huff..//. huff...."

"Sasuke-kun!"

Seeing the flames die out, Sakura finally scrambled down from the upper branches, a massive smile plastered on her face. "You did it, Sasuke-kun!"

Sasuke had absolutely no energy or desire to respond to her. He just kept coughing, trying to force oxygen back into his burning lungs.

"Are you okay, Sasuke-kun? Hang on!"

Cough.

Sasuke's eye twitched.

(.....At least offer me some water, you useless..Piece Of---.)

Ting... ting... ting... ting.

Sasuke and Sakura froze. They looked up to see the charred, blackened husk of the Kunoichi casually snapping the reinforced ninja wires one by one. She stepped forward, her movements slow, jerky, and utterly haunted.

The fight was far from over.

Before either Genin could even process the horror, the Kunoichi simply clapped her hands together.

Instantly, Sasuke and Sakura felt their bodies lock up, a suffocating stiffness seizing their muscles. Sakura immediately collapsed to her knees. Sasuke fought it, gritting his teeth hard enough to crack them.

"Paralysis?! Just wh—"

"I truly didn't expect you to be able to use the Sharingan to this extent at your age," the Kunoichi interrupted, her voice entirely different now—deeper, raspier, and distinctly male.

"Truly a member of the Uchiha Clan."

Sasuke forced his head up, his neck muscles screaming in protest.

The Kunoichi's face had melted away from one side, revealing pale, sickly skin underneath. Slitted, yellow snake eye stared back at him with predatory hunger. But what caught Sasuke's attention next was the headband. It was no longer the Grass Village symbol.

"....*sniff*sniff* S....sasuke..kun.."

Sakura knelt and felt like a world crashing down.

"Aaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!"

Ignoring everything else , Sasuke Roared as he tried to force chakra through his paralyzed limbs to break the jutsu.

Seeing his struggle, the creature smiled. "You are definitely his brother. Your eyes hide even more potential than Itachi's."

Sasuke froze. The mention of that name shattered his concentration. His eyes widened, and he stared at the snake-man. "Who.... who in the world are you?!"

"My name is Orochimaru.... If you find yourself wanting to meet me again... then run to the top of this test. Defeat the three Sound Shinobi under my control."

Paralyzed and weeping, Sakura shrieked at him. "You're not making any sense at all! We don't want to see you ever again, got it?!"

Orochimaru simply smiled his melted, sickening smile. He brought his hands together in a single seal.

Suddenly, his neck elongated. It stretched like a rubber hose, shooting across the clearing at terrifying speed, aimed directly for the juncture of Sasuke's neck and shoulder.

Sasuke watched helplessly as the disembodied head hurtled toward him, its jaw unhinged, massive fangs bared maliciously. The snake-man's mouth hovered inches from his flesh, ready to sink its venom in.

*SWISH*

Suddenly, a blinding, high-pitched hum filled the air. A violently spinning, bluish disc of pure chakra flew out of thin air, passing directly between Sasuke and Orochimaru's main body.

The object sliced through Orochimaru's elongated neck with zero resistance.

It was so fast that no one even realized what had happened until the severed head hit the branch. A second later, a voice echoed through the clearing—sounding like it was right next to them, yet originating from far away.
