Jasper sent a message asking if she'd had dinner, and if not, whether she wanted to eat together.
Serena lowered her gaze and replied, "I've already eaten, let's do it another day."
Just after the message was sent, a heavy dull thud sounded in the air.
It was the sound of a wine glass base knocking against the table.
Serena looked up, facing the man across from her who radiated a chilly aura that kept others at bay.
"Is this how you invite someone to dinner?" Adrian's tone was ice-cold. "Staring at your phone the whole time, leaving the other person hanging."
Serena put down her phone, lips drawing into a slightly apologetic curve. "Sorry, that was rude of me."
Seeing her use the same polite demeanor with him as she would with anyone else, Adrian felt as though a wad of cotton clogged his chest, neither moving up nor down.
