As soon as the message was sent, Adrian's call came in.
"Junior." There was the sound of conversations in the background, suggesting Adrian was still busy, "Reflect on why you invite me to dinner, yet still have me choose the restaurant myself."
When did she say she would invite him to dinner?
Oh, it was on the night she received the horror package.
Serena suddenly understood and reminded him, "You said you didn't need a meal, you already rejected me."
Adrian's tone was laid-back, "Which word in 'I don't need a meal' represents rejection?"
...Indeed, it does not represent rejection.
"But it also doesn't represent acceptance," Serena replied.
There was a two-second silence on the other end, and Adrian's voice carried a subtle smile, "Serena, are you being unreasonable with me?"
Serena denied it, "I'm just defending my right to speak."
"Oh," Adrian drawled, rather casually, "You invite me to dinner just to talk to me."
