Sylvie had already made so much progress that contributed to the department's investigation as they were at least 50-65% done with being able to find a lead. A member of the staff that joined the academy at the start of the year before Rei and her had joined.
Most of the curriculum that they've applied to was Rei and Syvlie's homeroom class and Physical Education class. They were an assistant but most of what they searched for was that the staff was just a commoner. There was no evidence that they were the ones that had done it which made them halt for a while.
Keitaro sighed as he continued to keep looking at every information that he could get regarding the staff that joined the academy this year. "They are oddly suspicious but there's no evidence that they were the ones that have done it…" he thought to himself as every background that he had checked, the same staff was just innocent.
The blue haired male could let out a deep sigh before rounding everything up, packing up the things that he had gathered before moving forward to report to the chief as this was the only information that he had managed to gather.
......…
Sylvie was having a break, completely exhausted after long hours of searching through each file of the one that was close to the evidence that had been pointed at. It made no sense, after all, the so-called innocent staff was just a recent graduate from a low to mid-tier academy.
Their grades were spectacular which was the reason for being able to join Kamigami Academy but the suspicious part of the curriculum was Physical Education and Homeroom classes which Rei and her were a part of.
"Come on… What am I missing?" Sylvie uttered to herself before downing an energy drink, her mint green eyes scanning through the screen of the computer as she scrolled and opened each document then files that she could get.
"There's barely any motive to commit those… So, why does the evidence direct to him?" She questioned herself, trying to picture herself in their perspective for better understanding of what their thought process would be.
Sylvie assumed that they've only done it to get Rei killed ever since his status as the vessel was leaked but from the days they've encountered the staff, they were mostly timid, shy and unable to scold a student due to their introverted personality although they could teach pretty well if it weren't for the other students that were disturbing the class.
"Fxck…" She muttered, "Mom… Sis… What would you do in a situation like this?"
Just as she closed her eyes, her phone rang as she immediately picked up before listening to whoever had called her. "Dear. Are you doing alright?" The voice of her mother went through the phone as the magenta haired girl started to calm down.
"I'm fine. Just stressed…" Sylvie said as she let out a deep sigh, "How about you? Are you doing okay? Oh right, is sis doing alright?" She added as she could hear another voice in the background that responded to her question.
"Your sister is doing fine. Although, we should be the ones who're asking you that." Her mother said while they both laughed for a bit before Sylvie started to tell her about her day then to the situation that she's in.
"I see. A suspect that has every evidence directed at them yet the motive behind the crime isn't present nor there to begin with…" Sylvie's mother uttered before the magenta haired girl could hear a bit of shuffling.
"It's a scapegoat." Her sister said, which made Sylvie confused, "A scapegoat?" She asked as her sister started to explain.
"A scapegoat to hide their tracks or to put the blame to someone so that they can continue to live their normal life or to but time for themselves before getting rid of the actual evidence."
Her explanation made a lot of sense to Sylvie, after all, if one isn't guilty due to their own daily life while having the evidence pointed out to them somehow then it was mostly a diversion or to throw the responsibility to them if they are involved.
"Thanks sis!" Sylvie exclaimed as she immediately went back to work after saying her goodbyes with them.
She was excited to see what the results would be once she managed to find anything related to being framed and being used as a scapegoat. The staff that she had for now was someone who's an assistant to the other classes especially with the Physical Education class.
There was a long list but she managed to find one lead by separating the schedule of each teacher that corresponds to their classes and the time before the incident then how the paper managed to slip in to get accepted without the headmaster's notice.
"Bingo!" Sylvie smiled as she found the person that was close to the staff that had the evidence pointed out to them. "Mr. William… Wait- Isn't he the PE teacher that got too serious against Re during our first day with the physical assessment test?"
The magenta haired girl could only see a few possibilities of why William had done it by eliminating Rei as a vessel but to cripple her was something that she couldn't bring a finger to.
All she needed to do was report this to the chief of what she had found. Sylvie printed all the documents and files related to William as she immediately arranged everything neatly into the folder. The magenta haired girl walked her way through the corridors and hallways before arriving at the office.
......…
Keitaro was pinching the bridge of his nose after talking with the chief, both were utterly defeated and stressed from not being able to find a lead other than the one that had everything pointed against them.
"What can we do? We can't even try arresting him because if we do, then the authorities would shut our department down before they start it again by having connections within their own ranks…" The blue haired male exclaimed as the chief let out a deep sigh, "At this point, the case may go cold in a week again if the authorities got a hand into this situation which would break the tension between the headmaster then them…"
They were about to end the discussion when they were interrupted by Sylvie. A folder in her hand as she excused herself before submitting her report. The chief's eyes looked like they were bulging out as he appeared to be happy and excited.
"This is incredible! We can start our investigation now!" The chief exclaimed as Keitaro praised Sylvie for her work although they were interrupted by a call from the chief's main phone.
"Oprah speaking." The chief said as the next thing that came out from the other side had surprised them all.
"Jinwoo speaking. I'm afraid to give the information but we'll send you the details as my intern is currently writing the details of our own findings. William Doe is the main culprit of the case due to the background check that we managed to find that included the fact that he has attempted to do the same with one of the older students that recently graduated."
Keitaro's heart dropped as he knew exactly who was the victim since he was there to witness the whole thing but the teacher just dismissed it to be scolding them.
"They stated that William had an injection which we managed to find at his apartment in Korea for some reason. We connected that it is the same one that was used with Sylvie."
The three were shook as there was nothing more for them to say at the moment. "I see. Thank you for the information and we'll report any of the rest if needed." The chief said before dropping the call, the room immediately went intense as all of them knew what they needed to do next.
"Sylvie. Round up the rest of the squad needed." Sylvie nodded her head before leaving immediately to inform any of the officers that are needed for the operation.
"Keitaro." The chief and Keitaro locked eyes before resuming, "Get that arrest warrant immediately."
......…
William wasn't having the best day of his life after visiting his home in Korea for a quick drink and celebration for his own benefits. He was instead met with a man that he dreaded to see along with a familiar face that spooked him somehow.
Jinwoo who had a search warrant and demanded to follow him to the precinct to at least get some interrogation although the latter already knew what he should do.
Run.
He threw some distraction bombs from what he had gotten from Tengen before the incident happened. While it did work, a shadow that had a bright red aura managed to cut his left arm.
"Damnit! Why is this happening!" He uttered to himself before being able to retreat to Ethereal by teleporting away with a crystal on his hand.
It wasn't even better as the moment he arrived at his apartment, the door was knocked down with Keitaro having his prowess active while showing an arrest warrant.
"Bastards! I will not go down!" William shouted before transforming into a dragon although it's left wing was gone.
